  1. No, regular funride with PPA seeded A,B etc.. but all of the A guys are licensed, but contain elite and some subvet riders.. and I don't wish to be the person trying to get into A group without an offical PPA funride number, that has to be posted to you, and they have checked over and over that you are a paid up member!
  2. not sure about vets..but the elite league has been run very well over the first two races - full results by tuesday..

    PPA 3day

PPA VETS AND SUB-VETS 3-DAY STAGE RACE The popular PPA three-day stage race for veteran and sub-veteran riders will take place from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 October 2006, in the Paarl-Wellington-Stellenbosch-Joostenberg area. Routes and stages are being confirmed as we speak: Why go to all the effort of putting on a tour and not having it open to all categories??!..surely with all the costs of putting in a 3day event, the incremental cost of having another group of riders is tiny, plus you get all the extra entries and you can spread the costs (traffic, marshals etc) of the event over a larger group of ppl.. 5. Would you say its better to go the whole hog and get the new wireless powertap or try and get a second hand SL if you just starting out? Also..does anyone know if a powertap hub will fit on a campag nucleon wheel?
  6. then he'll have to start coming to killarney and racing in scratch (and having fun with liberty riders:)ZippIt2006-09-21 07:06:59
  7. one thing everyone forgets is that basso beat LA in a mountain stage in the TDF..and was always the last to be dropped by armstrong that year, so it makes sense that he should dominate at the giro if that was his season's goal
  8. If you are a ppa member - 1 easy entry as per usual is fine - is what I heard from the organisors Zippit' date=' I don't think so... I think I recall an announcement at the award of the TdW that the easy entry tickets are NOT going to be accepted. Maybe someone form the PPA can clarify this.[/quote'] I went to PPA offices on thursday last week and asked them about it because I was confused myself about the situation and the people there did not know much about it, so they phoned the people meant to be organising it and that is what I was then told - one easy entry per rider as per usual, so take it or leave it
  9. Interesting article. My 20k ave power is up by about 30% since I started training at bikemax in May 2004
  10. If you are a ppa member - 1 easy entry as per usual is fine - is what I heard from the organisors
  11. probably the tour de winelands race - it used to be a seeding event for the argus & its also sponsored by pick'n'payZippIt2006-09-15 09:17:25
  12. He is a high profile advocate at the Cape Bar. He was apparently on Houtbay mainroad and a woman talking on her cell phone turned right infront of him going straight. Bike broke but injuries not 'too bad' - few ribs, bruises, scrapes. Should be back soon.. ZippIt2006-09-09 11:59:28
  13. If you going to spend the money - go for 404's, even in strong winds..its the best wheel (besides boras:) however this expensive stuff only makes a real diff if you racing above 40k/hr in a small group. If you tend to sit in large groups, it doesn't matter what wheels you have!
  14. I would say a good quality front bunch always adds to the credibilty of a race.. Fun-riders make the big races tho - eg Argus
  15. glad to be back
  16. FIT is very good because it doesn't give sugar spikes followed by dropoffs like energade (and coke)..
  17. Do energygels provoke cramping?? anyone.. [i have heard many complaints about this]
  18. Golf - hc 14 Sailing
  19. I agree with the eastons II. Same Zipp rim as 404 (light&stiff) with a better hub and more affordable because not as high profile brand as Zipp (but still expensive!). Don't know how much of a diff ceramic bearings make on the bora's.. Boras do look the best tho!
  20. Campag chains last 2x as long as shimano dura ace chains. Also, I have had a centeur cluster that has lasted about 3 years with racing and training. (secret -- keep it clean at all times-- cluster/chain does not mix well with sand) As for the 11 prob. It did happen quite a lot when I had Centeur, but now with Chorus I have never had the problem and I've done quite a lot of racing with it. I think Quickstep need a new mechanic. Robbie Mcewen has never complained..nor Pettachi when he was at fassa.
