  1. Thanks for the reply! No the rattle is from the cable housing which is touching your head tube. I put one of those little rubber anti scratch things on there and it sorted it out. I just spoke to a LBS and they said the housing is pretty straight forward and all you do is push it into the frame. I'm sure my housing is still ok so I will just change the cables. Apparently you cant go cheap on the cables for some reason the setup doesn't like that.
  2. Good morning everyone The cables on my Felt AR4 are starting to look a little frayed and are in need of replacement. Being a budding mechanic I am keen to give it a go, but my concern is the internal cabling housing of my bike. Any advice on re-cabling the gears and not damaging the internal cabling housing? I have read on some forums that guys replace the housing whenever they replace the cabling. Just want some views on this before I stuff it up totally. Cheers

Yeah the build up is very important. But you have to keep an eye on urself during the event and force urself to take in liquids and solids even though you may think you dont need. As for cramping, there is no answer. My suggestion would be to keep well hydrated the week before the race, eat a bit more salt and hope for the best.

You have to get in some extra carbs the day before. Energy drinks like 32gi work fine for this purpose. Drink 2 bottles throughout the day. Have a pasta dinner the night before and a low GI breakfast the day of the race. Say 2 slices of toast with jam and some coffee. You can sip an energy drink on the way to the race as well. Being a running race you cant take energy drink with you and the ones provided will spike your sugar levels. Take some gels, bars or even better some baby potatoes. Drink water and some energy drink on the route. Leave the Coke for the last 10k's.
  5. Yip we just lazy and enjoy the coffee too much as well as the endorphins from having a good sweat
  6. Overheard someone at the track session say something the other day which I think is very true. He said South Africans hard sessions are not hard enough, but more importantly the rest sessions/weeks are not easy enough. I can relate to this well because I am old school in my approach that if you not k@kking off you not gaining. After reading several articles I would agree with what I heard because we actually only get stronger when we rest our muscles. When we are k@kking off we are actually tearing them at a microscopic level, which if rested properly allows them to repair themselves stronger than before. I will endeavor to rest more this season ahead of the big Tri's coming up. I think we all should!
  7. Firstly, that is a saweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet looking bike! Secondly, those wheels aint too bad. Dont be so hard on urself! Thirdly, if you have the $$$ go for Zipps, they the sexiest IMHO. Get the 303's, probably the best all round wheels out there, but they aint cheap.
  8. That's ok then. Then I will say that is the hottest piece of carbon I have seen. Enjoy enjoy enjoy
  9. Thats stunning. My only crtiticsm (duck and hide) is the polar power meter. But hey SRM power meters aint cheap. Those zipps look aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome! Enjoy it dude, she's a ripper
  10. Great article. End of the day you need to be find a balance between comfort and aero. Clearly a lot can be said for being comfortable on a bike. Comfort will almost always translate to better performance. The line is fine...........

    IMSA 2012

Dunno if I have the b@lls to do the full. I have entered 70.3 and started training formally on Monday. So far so good. I guess Ill see how the training goes as well as 70.3 and make a decision after that.
  12. Nice toys. I would love one for Sani2c next year. When I asked the wife she just said why don't you pedal fast and train harder. Cant really argue with her on that point now............ Women I tell you.
  13. I've been through this debate many times in my mind before and I've decided to ride my drivetrain until it gives in. I reckon that makes more financial sense than changing chains whenever they are worn. Each chain is at least R250, and you would probably use 3/4 chains before you need to replace a cassette and chain rings. So that's +-R1k that will pay for your new drivetrain when it eventually does need to be replaced for a big event or does bomb out. So ride it until it gives in or until you have your next big stage race, because if you break something on a stage race and the drivetrain is worn, its gonna cost big $$$ as the bike shops at events are a rip off, as well as big aggravation.
  14. That looks awesome! Where the big blue b@lls?
  15. @ Tarmac - SL3 Zipp 303's on that and you might have the best looking bike I have ever seen. Personally I would put on white hoods. That aside, its a one day please GD bike. Shew its shmart
  16. They are but they are heavier because they do a better job of staying puncture free.
  17. Very very cool. Ride safely and enjoy it
  18. It may be heavy but its bomb proof. An extra few grams is worth it for a tyre that doesn't give any hassles. I think there are other weighs to save weight that don't compromise reliability.
  19. I run my MK at 1.6bar and the RK at 1.8 bar and it has made a huge difference. I weigh 84kg so u should account for that, but the increase in grip has been fantastic.
  20. My MK has done 200km's and still looks good for another few hundred. What pressures you running? In my experience I was running them way too hard and when I started fiddling and dropped it a bit the handling got much better.
  21. I can vouch for that. Ruan is fantastic and such a nice guy to deal with as well. I have phoned him several times to ask for advice and he is always so helpfull.
