  1. The cradle is generally ok. Just stick to the main roads frequented by cyclists. Diepsloot is the danger so avoid riding near there.
  2. I joined Club100 in JHB over 2 years ago. What a fantastic move that was for me. They cater for every need, from beginner to seasoned cyclist for both mtb and road. You wont find a more well run institution and Angie is a pleasure to deal with. Yes, people do jump red lights, but there is nothing that says you have to follow. Plenty guys stop as well. You choose.
  3. Last year wasn't, but the water really was lovely!
  4. Hello everyone I'm look at a set of Spinergy stealth pro's Has anyone had any experience with them? If so please provide some input. Thanks alot Z
  5. Must agree with the comments above. Its not rocket science, input vs output Check out My link Great nutrition advice there!
  6. Definitely wasn't hit but a car. Apparently he was 47
  7. Hi guys Not sure if this was covered but on Saturday morning we witnessed a cruel incident. Coming down chappies toward noordhoek at about 7am, a cyclist who was riding by himself was apparently found lying stone cold in the middle of the road riding toward Cape Town. When we got there, a couple motorists and cyclists had stopped and moved the man onto the pavement where he lay dead. So it would seem that he had a heart attack or stroke. This was really shocking to see and our hearts were bleeding for his poor family who would be dealt some cruel news. They seemed to be struggling to find some form of ID. Guys we always have to wear an iceid or er24 bracelet type thing with all our details on. It could save your life! Life is a gift, enjoy every single day because when the big man calls, its game over.
  8. Thats the most rubish logo I have ever seen I hope as hell he never paid for it because the company that did it dont have a clue. Those chainrings are beyond lame
  9. So sad to see her go Chubba!
  10. I changed mine a few weeks ago at my desk with a R5 coin. No issues at all. Dunno why you have to send it in for a battery replacement. I actually even remember phoning the guys and they said, if you do it properly its fine, but there is a risk you lose your data. I took the risk and it paid off.
  11. Love their coffee. Probably my favorite roast in CT. Amazing stuff!
  12. Hey Grant Good on you for coming here to set the record straight. Im sure the last few days have been torturous for you and your team. My point was that you as the organisers should have had a road closure agreement with City signed and sealed BEFORE you opened up the entries to the public. Otherwise wouldn't that be tantamount to a misrepresentation? Like I said, Cape Town has plenty events and obviously has rules in place for organisers who want to put on an event. Whilst I appreciate your answer, it doesn't really highlight the real reason that the road closures weren't granted. I'm sure you guys are learning a hard and horrible lesson but I wish you nothing but the best of success for your 2012 event. Cape Town is the best city in the world and deserves to be showcased as that. The time was obviously not right for now but by next year I'm sure you would have sorted all the gremlins out. Best of luck with the next few weeks. Z
  13. Theres a great B&B in Rustenburg. Google Mary's View.

  15. Because you can really compare a lap race around the cradle to racing around the cape peninsula! There's a reason CT has so many options, because its the outdoor sporting mecca of South Africa and is probably the most beautiful city in the world. Big events like to attract foreigners and the last time I looked JHB is a transit city and not a destination. Cant see why anyone would want to go to JHB for a holiday. Also don't forget what happened with the tour of South Africa when they went through JHB? Complete and total disaster if you remember correctly. Like I said previously the blame should land squarely on the organizers shoulders. Cape Town is a world class city and understands the exposure it would have gotten through this event. Clearly they have requirements in terms of number of cyclists and road closures etc etc and this wasn't thought out to well by the organizers. The city organizes plenty of road closures each month for sporting events so clearly with Challenge something was amiss and I don't think you can point a finger at the city for that.
  16. I feel for you Garf. You seem to have put a lot of time and $ into this event. Totally not cool what has happened but click on the link posted by urban ninja. Seems like the only positive spin in this massive stuff up. If you still come down to CT send me a PM and we can grab a drink somewhere!
  17. Dont blame the best city in the world for a bunch of fools who tried to organise challenge. They should have known they wouldn't get road closure right at the beginning before entries opened. I am pretty sure that cape town's view on the road closure would have been the same a few months ago as it was a few days ago. They never did the research and the athletes got burnt. I would send them some well worded lawyers letters demanding cash back + interest.
