  1. The mavic cosmic carbones are pretty sweet. I dont think your weight will be an issue with those. Also they come in clincher which for my money is the better all round wheel. They are pricey though.
  2. Also would have to loved to ride. Sounds like an awesome route. Ill be in East London for 70.3
  3. Why you guys all leaving? Aus is K@k
  4. Thanks for all the advice. Off to the garage
  5. Well im not going to drill a hole in it. What do you suggest?
  6. Ive left it upside down for the past half hour or so and most seems to be out through the headset. Not ideal by no means, but hey better out than in as I always say.
  7. I respectfully decline
  8. So as you all know JHB has been rather wet of late. So yesterday on our ride through the cradle @ about the half way point the heavens opened and left us a pleasant 30k's or so of terrential rain. Fun! I lifted the bike of the wall rack tonight and heard the sound of water in the frame. So.... Is this bad? I thought of removing the seatpost but I dont have a torque wrench and Im too scared to tighten the seatclamp without one.
  9. Well done to the pathetic and corrupt SAPS. I know there may be a few good ones, but they outweighed by the incompetnt corrupt swines. My blood pressure was increasing just reading that. I can only imagine how furious those guys must have been.

  11. Here is my ride. Picked her up on Friday and done 2 rides so far. Totally awesome. 2011 Felt AR4. Full ultegra and mavic cosmic elites
  12. Ive done 3 tri's in normal road shoes. The major drawback of a normal road shoes IMHO for tri 1. Difficult to put on at speed 2. Generally have to wear socks 3. Cant really run in them coz of the carbon/plastic bottom Just make sure you are organised in transition and it should'nt be a problem. Running in and out of transition has always been the major drawback for me in cycling shoes, but if you look at the pros they leave the shoes in the pedals and run barefoot. I did that in sun city, as soon as I got into the dismount area I spent 30 seconds and took them off and ran with bike in one hand, shoes in another. Worked fine.
  13. find urself a 200m hill and slap on ur running shoes Blast it up 5 times as hard as you can go and remember the max reading. That is your max heart rate. The formula was originally desinged for people recovering from heart surgery and is nothing more than a guide. Everyone is different so one cannot use a formula.
  14. Zula

    What front tyre

    universal system tubeless
  15. Zula

    What front tyre

Conti Mountain King BUT I would suggest running a 2.4, so much more grip
  16. You can run those rocket rons as tubless, but as has been said above a dedicated tubless is preferable for puncture prevention. You rims are tubeless ready so all you need is a valve which you can get from a LBS. You will also need some sealant and an adapter than will fit onto the valve and will then allow you to use the high pressure pump at a filling station. My suggestion is put the valve on nice and tight, fit the tyres and fill them with some sealant. At the filling station fit the high pressure nozzle onto the adaptor and hit the switch. You will hear a pop as the tyre seats onto the rim. Then just let some air out and run your desired pressure.
  17. Fair point. Like I said above, business is business and they needed to entrench themselves in the marketplace and perhaps by farming out work, it was their only way to step up the production process in order to meet the demands of consumers etc. I suppose what I want to know is how are the 'farmed out bikes' desinged and tested? We all have seen the prototypes for the zula and their new split pivot bike, but as far as the kewla 26, 29 and the new carbon bike goes, we have just seen the final product. This implies catalogue buying on their side, which I obviously hope is'nt true. Im sure the full suss rigs will continue to be built in maritxburg by hand and with all the love that they have always been built with.
  18. Agreed 100% I got the 2010 Zula, which like you said had dozens of prototypes before the final product was approved and went into production. It is a worry that they are coming out so quickly with all these new additions and does make one wonder if they perhaps chose it from a catalogue and in fact never did the proper R&D. Like I said before, really happy with my choice and would'nt change it for the world. I just hope that @ morewood they realise why people were so eager to buy the bikes and keep that boutiqe appeal thing going instead of gaoing to taiwan and placing orders.
  19. I have a zula and love it to bits. But do you think morewood is moving too far away from what put them on the map in the first place? Initially they made great hand built bikes in Maritzburg, now it seems like they farming out all the hardtails to the east. Dont get me wrong, not parting ways with my Zula for a very very very long time, its an awesome machine. I just think they've gone a bit mainstream and that loses some appeal. However, it is cut throat business out there and by them expanding their model range is a way for them to make some more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  20. In JHB for the next few weeks. Thereafter 100%. You know any peeps in CPT training for Sani 2 c? Trying to find a training group.
  21. That would be correct. As well as the 3 weeks prior to that. Suppose all holidays end eventually
  22. Ahh man, where were you last week Back at work sadly.
  23. Like Covie said, very very very personal choice. For me, selle italia is the way forward. The cut out relieves alot of pressure and they have MTB specific saddles which have alot more cushioning than the wooden plank road saddles.
  24. Name & shame
  25. Hey Im also doing my first 70.3 next Sunday (shew thats soon!) I did a sea swim when I was down in CPT over the holidays and I did'nt experience any sea sickness. BUT, make a conscious effort of not swallowing water when you breath. Every little drop tastes like a teaspoon of salt and its pretty darn miff! I trained alot when I was down there and noticed that I could sustain a higher HR for longer periods of time, which kinda makes sense seeing as though there is more oxygen. I wouldnt however get too caught up in all the tech. Rather just listen to your body. They key thought for me is going to be start sensibly, its a long day so you wanna ease into it and find a good tempo.
