  1. hey, too much wine last night, only got up now! Im running 2bar at the back and like 1.6 upfront. WRT propedal. I ride with it open the whole time. Unlesss im on a steep climb where I would want as little give as possible. That bike loves the technical single track! Glad you digging it! Wanna put an official ride together for this weekend? Maybe sun morning?
  2. I found that if you use one a few of the tiny cable ties you can tie the 3 cables on the downtube together and they stay out the way and never pop out of the clamp. Makes it abit neater. Also I put a chain stay protector on. The chain slapped around too much and was bound to nick the frame. Love the zula, it truely comes into its own on the swoopy singletracks. Since I put a mountain king 2.4 upfront its been a different bike. Handling is awesome and gives confidence to hammer it into a corner. Also I can run a lower pressure upfront which results in more traction.
  3. anyone keen for tokai tom morning?
  4. was thinking the morning sometime, earlier the better given the heat and all Anytime from 7?
  5. hey chubba if you keen to ride tommorrow at tokai drop me a PM
  6. They do nothing for us other than rip everybody off. Go price a bike on www.racycles.com and then get the RSA price. For exampe a cervelo s2 is 45k here and the same spec is 28k in USA. They also offer rubbish service. So in short, they do nothing for me.
  7. physio dude biokin will help you strengthen it once diagnosed
  8. Always keen for a ride. Count me in!
  9. hey leeu, when you riding there again? Also here from GP and looking for some rides in the area?
  10. thanks for the responses guys! I think the geo is well suited for a TT bike and with a few adjustments it could be we suited to be a dual purpose bike. Time will tell. Anyone else got some views?
  11. I have been toying with the idea of a TT bike of late, but it does'nt seem to warrant the necessary expenditure for the number of times I would use it in a year. So I came along the AR series, particulary the AR4, and to me this bike has the frame design to be a dual purpose. Primarily a road bike but secondly a TT bike. The frame seems to be highly suited toward TT as well as normal road use. It is also very aero in appearance, with all tubes and stays being flat and blade like. To convert it you could get another saddle and some clip on bars, or alternatively a whole new handle bar with new shifters and brake levers, but this is obviously harder to install at will etc. Who thinks this could work?
  12. hahahahaha sweet will do
  13. Anyone keen to head to tokai this afternoon? Ride upto the mast and back don vi the swtichbacks and some of that fantastic singletrack? 4pm ish?
  14. No one here has mentioned petrus se brand, I did it last year and it was unbelievable! Just before knysna take a right onto the uniondale road. This eventually becomes a dirt road. climb all the way until the forest station, get you ticket and there is a path back down again which comes out at the garden of eden. UNBELIEVABLE
  15. Cajees sucks! I only buy stuff from solomons in woodmead. Achter is an absolute gentleman with a real good heart. Id give those guys the business any day of the week. Must be honest, have'nt had too many pleasent experiences with bike shops in JHB. No one gives an objective opinion and just want your $$$$$ But the worst by an absolute mile are Cajees, wouldnt give those fools 10cents of mine
  16. Brett is a gentleman of note. His opinions are honest and objective. If I were in the market, Id go to him in a second
  17. Funnily enough, I spoke to MArk at Troi sport and he said that weight can virtually be ignored in a TT bike. Comfort and optimal riding position is everything.
  18. Interesting thread. I was also thinking about a TT bike, decided against it for the time being as Im getting married, moving etc so cash flows are destined outwards. From what Ive heard, the benefit is minimal on 70.3 for a TT bike. However bear in mind that Im sure you'd be doing other events where a TT bike will definately be beneficial. What TT bike you looking at?
  19. Not to change the topic, but are there any charities for argus? Would be keen to put something together if anyone else out there shares my sentiment
  20. I was very sceptical about the race as I had heard bad things in the past. But you guys are'nt taking it for what it is, a MTB race in the middle of JHB and Sandton, its never gonna come close to places like the magalies and parys for example. Its just not practical. I actually enjoyed the route and thought it was really well ut together, well marked, good water points and a great vibe. I partoculary enjoyed the comments from the prisoners as we rode past I'd do it again.
  21. I agree with the comment above. Used to have a manitou drake and have since moved to a fox, like night and day! Definately fork first then wheels.
  22. Agreed, thats why I prefer MTB races to road races by a mile. Yesterday was great coz cars by and large were eliminated, but the other problem is the other riders. People are just too unpredictable. Nothing safe about riding in a bunch with that many strangers.
  23. The black one looks sweet! Bottom line, when buying a new bike you gotta go for the one that speaks to you. The one that makes you wanna ride it. We can all sit and talk about the best value bike out there, but if it does'nt make you wanna ride dont buy it. Even if it costs you a few extra bucks, it'll be worth it.

At parys island dirtmax its advertised as 60k's, i clocked 48k's! When we asked the organiser he just shrugged his shoulders. A k or two makes no difference. 12k's on the other hand irritates me! Also remember the lines you take make a difference.
  25. Thats it, im done with NF as well as JHB. Very excited for my move down to the Wester Cape. I know its not perfect there and peeps still get bike jacked, but I have'nt heard of it being as violent as it seems to be up here. I know some may think Im part of the problem in that I dont stand up and be counted in the fight against these b@stards, but these guys have nothing to lose and to be honest I do. Just is'nt worth it. This is very very very sad news.
