  1. Ag nee man this is terrible ! Glad you weren't hurt. We need to organise a ride in the area, things are getting out of hand again
  2. Would love one, good review on DCRainmaker.com I bought a Salter scale that measures body fat, hydration etc. from @home for R500 a while back, maybe worth a look.
  3. Awesome will definitely support !
  4. Was in the same bough, got a Felt F85 2011 for R8600. Was the bike with the most 105 parts on that I could afford, full 105 went for 10K. Felt has specials at the moment with its own website, last I saw it was R8300. Now its R7760 - leaves money for bottle cages, better tyres, pedals or whatever. http://www.felt.co.z...tclearance.html A friend got the full 105 silverback for 9K I think, so try bargain on a 2011 bike instead of an expensive 2012 bike would be my advice. Specialized also has a sale going and look on www.obike.co.za as well for good deals. Though this Fuji seems to be the best deal - full 105 bar the brakes for 8k http://www.solomons.co.za/node/1292
  5. For a light weight weight weenie like myself, Stan's rims with foldable tyres works great With the supersonic/foldable conti's, this is what I've heard : try lightly sanding the sidewalls on the inside, they sometimes have a waxy buildup there and thus sealand doesnt stick. Then use a brush with thin sealant like stans and paint the sidewalls on the inside with the liquid before installing them.
  6. Maybe a seperate complaints page could be built, so shops can see when people complain and sort it out and if you don't want to you don't have to read it
  7. Can't comment on the hubs, I do know however that the SLR is a UST rim and the ZTR uses STan's BST system. If you are going to use UST tyres go with the SLR, if you want to run normal foldable tyres the ZTR is made with that in mind
  8. I've got pair I doubt I'll wear, so make me an offer
  9. I'm wondering why these tyre manufacturers don't just bring out their own sealant that works with their own tyres ?
  10. That would be him on the right
  11. Easy for Suzie to say, riding a 9kg dual sus 29er....
  12. For me on the Magalies adventure on the saturday that took us 5h30 for the 70km, it was water and PVM Octane. Had a GU at around 50km when we were low mentally and physically. Also munched on bananas and a Fast Fuel fruit bar. Had GU chomps as a reserve. Had water, Biogen and coke at all waterpoints. Had a bar-one a one also I think. Boerie at the halfway stop. (where I managed to t-bone my partner going into the singletrack, be sure to look for that during the tv coverage ) Breakfast was Oats with syrup, rooibos and a pvm fusion shake with a banana. Rode lekker though it was slow and technical going mostly and neither of us could be called fit. I normally do the 40k events so there its GU before and near the end and Octane and water, maybe a fruitbar and then flatbox all the way !
  13. Specially on a dual-suss I think the difference will be allot less noticeable than a hardtail, if noticeable at all. IMO you really need to shell out for a top of the line carbon bike to get any benefit over alloy, the Caad10 alu road bike is reviewed as being a much better bike than its basic carbon framed competitors which seems to be true looking at all the effort cannondale puts into RnD. I have a GT carbon hardtail and except for some vibration damping alu would be allot cheaper, resist impact better and weighs the same. No real advantage, is still cool though to have a carbon bike SOmething like the scott scale 899 now thats a different animal and shows what carbon can achieve over alu. If you have the $$$.... Jacques I would say maybe look at getting a bike one up from the 60, one tends to buy too basic and then want to upgrade quickly which costs allot when the bug really bites. WW.
  14. Got sore throat last week, didn't get better so went to the doc, some kind of early Bronchitus(sp?) Just finished my last 400mg antibiotics. Hoping to atleast go for a spin on sunday, had just been getting fit again then had to stop. It's torture not being able to ride
  15. How is Tyrone White doing ?
  16. You could try adjusting the release tension if you haven't to make it easier to unclip. They are entry level though, unsure if XT will work better in that regard. I also had the same issue, switched to eggbeaters for almost 3 years now and never had the same issue of falling over The 3 model is also more durable, no more bushings but bearings instead. CWC doesnt have the eggbeater 3 in stock though, Buycycle are running a special however and they have stock. Candy just has a platform so slightly less mud clearance but supposed to be more stable as there's more shoe contact area. Bit heavier. More contact also supposed to lead to less hot spots. Keep in mind these do not have a release tension setting just a cleat dependant angle setting so they can be stiff in the beginning, still better than shimano IMO. Some shoes might need trimming of the shoe tread to work well or use the shims included. They can damage a carbon sole so I would suggest getting the plates CB sells that fit under the cleat that protects the sole. ABout R100 on CRC WW.
  17. I would say for Conrad to take it he would need to hook it on the bike and gain a good lead, I'm sure he can ride allot better and faster off-road than the ITU guys but I don't think he'll be able to keep with them on the run, unless it's very technical.
  18. Yeah its some bike that Ballistic also imports, can't remember the brand. Knox had Do it Now Magazine stickers on the bike in the pics/tv coverage I saw
