  1. Reminds me of a locust
  2. Think you should look at how much riding versus decending you want to do with the bike and go from there. i.e. trail or all-mountain ? The Enduro seems very biased towards going downhill with 160mm of travel, while you can maybe go for 140mm on the Santa Cruz if you want to pedal more. Also can you get what you want for the 13k ? Or is there really stuff you want to change on the Enduro that make it unsuitable for you if left stock, as a complete bike is (mostly) cheaper.
  3. Bought some lights from Serfas that are both usb rechareable, much cheaper than the Flea set. The front one looks like the Serfas Nightsaver with a lens so the light has more of a beam to it on the actual road if needed, has dim, high, strobe and flash. Rear looks more like the Flea with multiple led;s but still outputs 40 lumens they say and is visible from the side. I attach it under my seat onto the rails.
  4. Enjoy Elana ! Hopefully the weather keeps in check, I'm not up to dodging lightning while swimming
  5. You see my issue is that while I was working I had cash to blow so upgraded to XTR which was and still is fine and dandy, but in the near future chainrings will need replacing and then I will be on bread and water for a while I could afford it then but did not think long term
  6. +1 would be great Ie. Sportsman warehouse had a 2 for 1 GU Chew special a while back WOuld be nice to have a place to tell hubbers In the mean time, Buycycle has a special on 29er frames, Bulls Copperhead in alu, buy 2 for R5400.00
  7. Listen to Eldron for he is wise and knows that one must not purchase expensive parts if one cannot maintain them I have learnt this expensive lesson myself, so take heed
  8. Tigger my Jack Russel - lives for tennis balls
  9. Perhaps look at costs of the replacement parts ? If you like gripshift maybe stick with sram then as 10spd gripshift is coming. I do prefer alu cranks though, as I bash mine allot
  10. They are all copied from the Lupine Tesla anyway, you can't knock-off a knock-off, can you ? Very good deal IMO, tempted to get a second one
  11. Oh and Dubber is competing on my road bike, that oke better win
  12. Geax Barro Race maybe ? Running my 3rd set of Aspens on the 26" and really love them so 29 should also rock. Interesting you say the Ikon rolls slower, looking at images of the tread I thought it's lower profile and would be faster than the Aspen.
  13. Will be swimming for Dubber's team, first swim since Xterra in February. Eish!
  14. No Muppets - Formula also works with the Matchmaker system
  15. Formula R1 with the carbon lever upgrade and Ti bolts, should be around 263g then. They also work with the Avid Matchmakers so you can have less weight and less clutter on the bars. I have a set of the 1st R1's with the magnesium levers and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Excellent power, sometimes the 160mm rotor on the rear is too much so if you are light consider a 140mm on the back. Great modulation, not noisy either. They also don't overheat in my experience, dragged my brakes down the Sudwala decent at the 3 towers with no discernable fade. To me brakes are still very important to go fast in xc, the better your brakes the longer you can be on the gas, decelerate quickly and get going again. Otherwise you have to drag the brakes for a bit to slow down, not ideal. Also helps the confidence on fast and tricky stuff knowing you have good brakes as a backup
  16. True, but as a cyclist I feel one tends to be able to see if the person if actually a cyclist or not, however subjective that may be
  17. Ok you have my attention Thanks will go check it out, love the wide rim, same as the MMX rims width I think ?
  18. Hey all Was out for a road ride today and spotted a gent riding a royal blue Scott hardtail with red Manitou fork, not sure which model but it did have v-vrake bosses, seemed like a R7 or Minute, bike seemes to be a 2006 Scale model in Alu but can't be sure. This was by Waterkloof Hoërskool. Anyone that got such a bike nicked recently should be on the lookout in the area. Was a black gent riding it, newspaper tucked into the back of his pants, nice shiny white sneakers. Could have been his but seems slightly fancy to me for someone that's not actually cycling for sport but for transport. Hope this can help someone. WW.
  19. Pics please
  20. WOW ! Then the 26" model should weigh next to nothing
