  1. Ive literally got this on my todo list - total coincidence that i see this. Not sure i could live with the print lines vs. just keeping the OEM part though now that ive seen an end result. Off the topic a little, but the Giant Defy comes with a compatible stem for the propel that really looks nice if you can source one.
  2. Im not having this experience at all on an iPad Air 4th Gen. What is your setup? (Sorry if you've already mentioned this). Have you tried deleting and starting from scratch?
  3. Last nights print job - a small black o ring that keeps my AirPods locked in when I smile 😀 (or exercise and they like to fall out) Of all the gadgets I’ve seen to solve the slippery AirPod problem, this is the one that works best for me, and the AirPods still fit in the charging case with them attached. another standard accessory Apple should be including for better fitment of funny eared people like me 👂
  4. I had my first MyWhoosh app failure on the iPad yesterday, regretfully didn’t recover so lost the ride completely. luckily I was connected to the trainer with my garmin as well, so at least had the numbers for the effort. im going to see if I can engage with there devs/product team, keen to see if they are open to “suggestions” 😆
  5. My latest thingiverse download is probably the most cycling related print job I can think of! After much frustration with grind spillage and perfect dosing into the portafilter on my Breville Barista Express, I found this piece of genius! I honestly don’t know why this isn’t a standard accessory with this coffee machine, my shot consistency (and cleanliness) is now near perfection 👏
  6. appreciate this but im a huge fan of cargo bibs - the leg pockets are my trash can, the built in back pockets perfectly fit tools an phone so my shirt has literally no dangly bits. not many makes who do a product like this (at ZA prices).
  7. I’ve got direct and indirect similar experience with Leatherman, Giant, Ciovita, Patagonia. Garmin seems to be trending downwards at the moment (personally great backup, but have noticed some hubbers complaining about recent interactions)
  8. Got semi excited when Ciovita sent a “25% off for Father’s Day” mailer this AM, only to find that literally all the kit on sale is marked up by at least 25% since the same time last year. With the euro pounding the zar at R20, I’m imagining the importation of Italian Lycra must be driving much of this increase, but looking at the spot pricing on castelli and the like their prices are much the same.
  9. FWIW: (app sizes on my iPad) -MyWhoosh 3.5gb -Zwift 3.2gb -Wahoo RGT 700mb My iPad Air 4 handles all these games seamlessly. I’ve had an occasional delay getting started with each of them if updates are due, but not longer than mixing my drinks bottle and fetching a towel.
  10. Quite impressed, logged my request last night, replacement parts already on the way. I’ve not owned anything but boa based lace up shoes for a decade, doubt I would change this unless the self strapping shoes Marty McFly wore in back to the future II ever came out 😁
  11. Im surprised this app is free, its really not bad (so far)
  12. Sounds like you need a gravel bike with two wheel sets. At 1.9m you probably need >60cm. At R20k you're going to get alloy/alu, but thats not always a bad thing.
  13. I cant see most 3D printers taking much more than 300w, so a basic UPS/Inverter should protect prints from abruptly stopping. The creality ender 3 V2 Neo also has a feature to resume prints when it powers back on which works pretty well.
  14. This weekend I decided to fetch a design from thingiverse for a simple iPad/Tablet mount for the indoor trainer. Even though the design came with its own dowels for snapping all the bits together, I ended up buying some M4x15mm screws from builders to get the build nice and stiff. A couple of post thoughts to this design: -I would remix the base cross brace into both arms for a single print, but the size of an average print bed (220x220) would be limiting -I would modify the top cross brace to include some side guides/supports for the tablet not to move around when I’m standing and “rocking” the bike -I would move the bottom of the tablet a couple of cm away, I tend to bump it when I’m switching hands to the cross bar -a second mount for my phone would be handy
  15. I’d recommend this design instead https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4788212 at least with strap ties there is some give in the event of a knock, screws are always going to win against plastic. (also this design is ready to go for print!)
  16. After some frustration with De Rosa trying to source mechanical shifting grommets for my bike, I decided to buy an entry level 3D printer to make my own. So gratifying to do this, and at the cost of EUR 80 they quoted to ship me a set, I’m glad to have rather channeled that some capital into this project. I ended up using tinkercad to model the design before slicing with my Ender software for a proto-print. I’ve got some ABS ordered so I can do a final, but for now happy to sit and stare at it 👌
  17. Sra-mano AX2=(campagnolo-thumb shifters)+proper hood groups+wireless shifting 🤣
  18. I can vouch for this comment. In “champagne” conditions this weekend, i explored the course and found it quite tough. There will be few flowing/rolling hills to make up time, expect some decent technical sections and thats before the return through town to do the climb to lords, then up galge, and then that beast to the mast. Expect wet shoes in the first 15km at the first river crossing, its got decent size boulders not for an easy ride through on “skinny” wheels, if you walk, your feet will not dry easily in the low temps that follow, so consider a strategy of even taken shoes and socks off (i know this sounds dramatic, but wet feet in freezing temps is terrible). If its a challenge you were after, this is as good as it gets!
  19. was this ever shared?
  20. I might have been on the skinniest tyres (38c) out of everyone riding on Saturday, still had a blast on my converted commuter bike 🚴 👏 im just glad my quick release axles survived some of that corrugation 😆
  21. Yes I understood this too, but then how did the 100miler get cleared to start?
  22. Can you elaborate? Sounds like you were in the 100 miler group, can you share what might have happened to cause the delay to the 50 miler start?
  23. I did the 50(54 😆) miler. The Route was really well thought out, albeit 87km in distance but provided .gpx was accurate. I can see this event becoming super popular for its proximity to Cape Town, i.e no need for sleepovers like around the pot. Prepping for the event, the thought about farm vehicles for planting season, Road corrugation etc had me second guessing actually riding, the 90min delay to the start almost sealed that decision, but what a ride it turned out to be, with fantastic weather too. i will be back!
  24. Yeah fair point, another concept not mentioned in the thread is actually how fun/gratifying a gravel bike can be, irrespective of speed/performance
