  1. "The other surprise is to find that SRAM’s Transmission is actually a touch faster shifting under a load than without. It is also slower while upshifting than downshifting, the only one in the test to do so. It’s clear that shifting precision has come at the expense of shifting speed, but out on the trail, all test riders agree that they’d prefer a clean, smooth shift over a crunchy, fast one any day." https://mbaction.com/drivetrain-shift-speed-shootout-sram-versus-shimano/#:~:text=UPSHIFT (moving down the cassette,to cross than the others.
  2. From this angle looks like non-UDH, they could be supporting both tho through another part number.
  3. that section along the railway? looks like the winner set a new KOM yesterday - "RVR 🚂🛤️"
  4. i think i heard them say > 700 entrants - i can easily see this becoming a mass attendance event to the likes of 99er etc the organisation, weather etc was fantastic
  5. Highly underrated post (altho the information is widespread). Im experimenting with making my own gel flask with this mix, tired of using sticky sachets and paying the price for fancy branding.
  6. Is this genuine power saddle from specialized, or something like the Sella Italia Model-X Green Comfort Plus? I gave the later a try, and its finish was doing the same to my bibs - went back to genuine spez power saddles and never had issues.
  7. The 50 miler is plenty of fun if you're looking to just actually have fun - I personally dont have any business in the 100 mile field at the moment ....
  8. If you're considering entering, checkout https://www.entryninja.com/marketplace for resales first
  9. As if gallows wasn't already a treat, we get another great last opportunity for gravel excite before June / July / August leaves us cold and eventless ...
  10. May have been the perfect course/weather/group of riders I've experienced in a while - well done to the organisers! Finishing at Heavens view was a welcomed gift 🎁
  11. The creality ender 3 V3 is a great entry level printer, has many advanced features. Ive got the KE variant and is a HUGE upgrade from my original ender 3 v2 neo. Speed, accuracy, 1st layer quality etc is next level. If your end goal is to make high quality parts, i would jump straight to any model made by bambu labs or prusa, they are pricey as an entry point, but defs the industry standard.
  12. at least 3-4 times a year BikeMarket have renewed faith in my desperation - just want to give James serious kudos for his determination 🤣
  13. Comparing 2023/2024 there is a 10km difference which looks like a portion added on a farm off the R317, they could have removed that section this year
  14. Looking really good for Saturday 👌🏻👌🏻
  15. Early weather forecast, way too soon to confirm tho
  16. Its a design i found on printables.com. Literally a copy paste to my own printer, three dowels and presto.
  17. Next project ... sourcing "nice" dowels proved more expensive than i thought
  18. Final matchy-matchy pic, moving on to next project now.
  19. needs some fine tuning but think this is actually useful --->
  20. literally this 👆🏻 also - would recommend a proper stop at kobus se gat - you're between 1:30 -> 2hrs from the finish at this point, easy to think you can just push thru without a break.
  21. Busy with this project at the moment, going to match print the fixtures in the kits colors to see how it comes out
  22. There are a couple of youtube videos with a specialized crux running a 2.2" renegade front and back, as well as the Schwalbe 2.1" thunder burts. Internal rim width plays a part when running the larger tyres, anything wider than 25mm will make the tire sit wider.
  23. The 99er ran a gravel route on the same day as the traditional paved route this year (and last i think). Would be ideal if these events were on separate days, and consideration for more near Cape Town based events where accommodation isnt needed to take part. There is also an opportunity for a gravel event from Spice Route which would be awesome. IMHO gravel events could be as popular as all the pre CTCT road events if they were closer to CPT and entry fees were aligned.
  24. ATP has been around for some time now - in the mean time Ronde v Swartberg, Ronde v Riebeek, Gallows etc have also emerged which are at a better time of year weather wise to race gravel. I then skip gravel winter (June/July/August) and pickup again with Canolla Roller in September. Budget req'd for these events can be quite high, entries are pricey, accommodation for two nights is pricey etc Just my 2sats
  25. expect to pay R7.5-R9k for a non sapphire version - still alot of tech for the money.
