I'm looking for a couple of BMX's to donate to teenage boys in Prince Alfred's Hamlet near Ceres. One of them - Gerald - services the bikes himself with old parts that he scrounges together. His bike got stolen on Saturday, and would be great to get him riding again.
I'm based in Cape Town, and I'll come collect. Also - spare BMX parts can also come in handy, so drop me a message if you have anything that could still be useful.
Ok now it's Friday!
Just out of interest OP, do you feel the same way about sunblock, malaria medication, condoms, safety belts and traffic lights?
I just threw that last one in because one can never have enough worms on a fishing trip.
Awesome! Nice way to share what the Lesotho Sky is about with people who haven't done the race before. Looking forward to it.
I prefer to use smooth peanut butter on my chain. Sure there's a bit of chain suck but it's biodegradable and if I put too much on I can just lick it off. Or something.
Also... #overthinking #notaproblem #happyfriday
Oi. I'm not sure the forum is designed for copying and pasting promotional material from your own website. http://www.asgsport.co.za/index.php/when-people-gel/
Definitely doing it again in 2016.
Just saw that entries to Lesotho Sky are officially open. Had a blast this year, so heading over to the site now to get my entry in!
Here's the video to make you want to take a half day on a Monday:
And here's the link to register: http://lesothosky.com/enter-2016/
69er... Is that a special kind of tandem bike?
Come on guys this is a serious question.
If your friend wants to fast, just take away all his food.
I would strongly suggest stopping at red traffic lights. If we want motorists to play by the rules, then we should too.
It's nice that the Parisians are looking into this, where the number of cyclists could cause disruptions to traffic flow. Here, it's not an issue, and is just a weak excuse to make up your own rules.
You are quite correct, it was high on the list before and now its nowhere to be found.
The other hub thread is still up there though which has a link to this thread.
Google only serves what it thinks is relevant results - there is no way that someone could make this thread disappear from Google's search results.
In fact - all of us going snooping around on Swen's website is probably indicating to Google that those results are more relevant than this forum.
did you seriously line up just in your little pants and Jersey, did it dawn on your that you where in for a serious cold time, dude you must have frozen solid
.
Erm... Yes. Schoolboy error. Thought it would have warmed up a bit by 8am, and was ready for a chilly start - but yes, Saturday was super cold.
Also had a moment where my fingers thought they were pulling the brake levers, but they were pulling on air.
Some dude was next to me in the start shoot, no gloves or arm warmers, as we descended into the valley my Garmin resisted -2.6 degrees, I felt so sorry for him.
That might have been me. I could hear icicles cracking in my fingertips when I tried to move them. After an hour's riding.
This is a thing of beauty.
One thing that I notice in this thread is that the newbies and those with minimal posts are all advocating rouge riding and have a "I can do what I want" attitude, and everyone that's been around for longer is saying the opposite.
So essentially, Hubbers are better people. Even Deon.
The other way to look at it is that new riders have absolutely no clue what is allowed, and with poor communication from TMNP the only way they'll get clued in is by coming across the Hub at some point. While the folks on the Hub are so used to all of these things, and have read every single post just to make sure that they stay on the right trails.
Ignorance is not a defence, I know - but maybe let's get off the high 29er.
Btw I agree - Hubbers are better people. After a couple of drinks And especially on a Friday.
@wessel, what are your thoughts on future events having snapscan available for the race village? its a super convenient service for making food and beverage purchases
SnapScan FTW! The SnapScan team is super helpful - just give them the go-ahead and they'll set up everything.
Progress waits for no man Wessel
Dit lyk belowend. Sien baie uit - goeie werk Wessel!
Anyone?
Anyone keen to join me at Eselfontein or Kaleo in Ceres on Saturday morning? I plan to do about 60km of riding (that's about 3.5 hours of riding for me), starting at around 7am or 7.30am. Entrance is free to both farms.
I haven't done a ride at Kaleo, but Eselfontein has some big climbs and fun descents; nothing too technical.

I think we've heard everyone's point of view now. May I suggest that if you want to continue, you either start a new thread specifically for that subject, or meet each other for a cup of coffee?
As for this thread, I'd like to follow it for updates and news relating to the Constantia Green Belt trail.
