  5. There is so much to read, but from what I understand is that there is a Support Zone at the steel bridge before Bonnie Vale (about 150km) and another @ Drew Hall (about 175km). I think that these are water/coke tables.

  8. There was still plenty of action in various places yesterday, including Swellendam. But the interwebs news sites weren't saying much about it. I have no idea what is happening today.

  13. Previous threads on ZTR Crest wheels indicate that they are not all that stiff. Perhaps look at rebuilding your hubs and spokes with some ZTR Arch EX rims? Edit: How much do you weigh?
  14. Water points: (These designated areas are for cyclists only) Top of Tradouw Pass (approx. 43km from the start) – Water bottle exchange. Riders will be given a bottle filled with water. Any old bottles left at this station will be donated. This point is operated by Event Staff. Top of Op de Tradouw Pass – Feeding station. Teams will be given a cooler bag and 12 bottles that may be filled with team nutrition and handed in to the organisers at Registration on 23 November at the Swellendam show grounds, by no later than 22h00. These bags will be refrigerated overnight. Bags will be numbered and handed to the first rider of each respective team, as they enter the feed station. Please note that only cyclists may retrieve these bags and will not be handed to any support staff. This point is operated by Event Staff.
  15. I was going to order from EasyGIS, but I wanted the black and grey version and premium HR strap so ended up getting it from CRC with DHL delivery. It worked out to be about the same price (give or take R100.00)

  18. Like the UCI, our own CAS has a lot to answer for. So this sort of investigation should start from the top. And all our local pro's who have been so vocal on Twitter lately? I wonder how many pots are calling the kettle, black...

The Adventure seemed to go well this past weekend. Super excited for this weekend now! I haven't ridden in the area at all, so don't know what to expect. It looks pretty dry judging by the recent weather and pictures. Tyre choice? I have 2 options, Spec Fastrak or Captains. Which pair? Or do I combine: Control on the front and Fastrak rear?
  23. Or if you ride mostly smooth dirt roads, or real gnarly trails...
  24. I went through both ways between 8 & 9 yesterday and didn't notice any change in traffic behaviour. The road is narrow and I really don't understand why they didn't widen it just a bit when they did the roads. The sidewalks are HUGE! The ghost bike gave me a chill though...
  25. There have been several 2x10 vs 3x10 debates wrt 29'ers here on The Hub. Do a search, wade through the arguments for and against, play with a gear table and compare it to your current bike's gearing and make up your own mind. Personally, I really like my 2x10 setup, but switched the 26t ring for a 24t. I need all the help I can get on the climbs...
