  1. Interested to know how this has progressed. Is there any merit in the idea of putting a ZTR Crest rim up front with a ZTR Arch rim at the back? Competitive Cyclist uses ZTR 355 front and Arch rear rims on their Signature Industry Nine 29'er wheelset
  2. The Zeppelin of Led isn't gonna help us now.
  3. How about this one?
  4. You will wait a while for your card. The system is a mess! I ordered and paid for mine last year and got it 4 months later. Its the wrong one and doesnt allow me to ride in Tokai. You need to go to a TMNP office to get the correct card. Painless and over the counter with a smile. Hein does not have a good reputation either. Good luck with that!
  5. I hope you ride this thing faster than you build it! What wheels are you using?
  6. I got a subscription for my birthday. First issue arrived last Friday, I think.

    Enve Wheels

I think the previous itteration, Enve 45's were in the region of R20k.
  9. At R15 or R16k, I reckon the Giant is a very good option. I like the Fox QR15 fork and tapered head tube. It makes a good platform to upgrade from. I would however suggest that you get properly measured up before you buy and get a frame whose geometry that suits your build.
  10. This thread is legendary
  11. +1 I use the Crud Catcher Front Mudguard. It keeps muck, stones and small animals out of my teeth.
  12. Burry's S Works Epic 29'er was 9.5kg for the Epic.
  13. With a tricky, root-strewn run-up, a fireroad to clear and a super-steep and loose-looking landing into a massive berm, the 'chicken run' down the side is likely to see plenty of use. The top riders won't be daunted though – at least not if the reaction of reigning world champion Sam Hill (Aus|Monster Energy Specialized) is anything to go by. http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/article/video-world-cup-riders-face-monster-drop-at-fort-william-30443
  14. Are there any video clips of the Monster Drop in action?
  15. Lots of snot rockets route markers!
  16. I would pick the Giant, but then I am biased...
  17. Yupp! MTB is a seperate add on. But it doesnt say that anywhere. Its got something to do with money being channeled towards TMNP who assist with trail building and maintenance or something. Same as when you buy a permit at the picnic site entrance.
  18. You cant have too much of a good thing! They had the Sani2C non stop a while ago, but that was, um... Stopped.
  19. Sounds great so far. Remember its easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission....
  20. Springbok Rugby colour scheme. Nice! What else are you draping over this beauty?
  21. Sanparks tried to fix up their system and landed the biggest mess imaginable. Fancy high level security and database cleaning and blah blah. There are HUGE delays because of all the data that is incorrect and all sorts of rubbish. Massive incompetency is what it is. I wanted to go mountain biking in Tokai, not apply to become a flipping FBI agent! I couldn't find anything on the TMNP or Sanparks website about where to get what permit for mtb in Tokai. TMNP office is in Westlake. The poor guys at the gate get all sorts of abuse from guys who got the wrong card or haven't received theirs yet. Its a mess!
  22. This new Wildcard thing is a mess. I did mine online last year in November and FINALLY got my card at the end of April. The stuff up for me was that I thought I needed it to go mountain biking in Tokai, and I can't with the Wildcard that I got. Clearly, I am not very good at searching online because I couldnt find anything about Tokai and mountain biking, so I bought the R340.00 card thinking it would cover everything. I cant get a refund either! I had to go to the TMNP offices and get a different card for R180.00. Quick, easy, polite and painless. I wish I had know that.
  23. Update your choices. The Mojo SL-R is the new version: 140mm travel 26" carbon trailbike with XC race weight Read up about it here Santa Cruz Tallboy: 100mm 29" carbon XC bike. Read up about it here
  24. Skydiving in your sleeping bag? That's as crazy as those okes camping on the cliffs!
