  2. Some Colnagos's coming up for sale ?
  3. CBR in Durbanville extended a carbon fork for me by inserting a section in the middle of the steerer tube . You can use alu that has both ends machined down . If too much of a hassle send the bike this way ...
  4. Not at the time was looking at the bicycle now with a relook I recognized the road .
  5. Truly special . Now get him something he can ride to Varsity . If that belonged to me I would not hear a word in class with it parked outside .
  6. What size or does it not matter ? We can help looking out for a Zini
  7. The steel FARR frame is an excellent choice . I did a build project with that frame , 700 X 40 tyres , Lauff fork and it was very very comfortable and stable . And you have the mental assurance that steel don't crack .
  8. Some nice suggestions here . Just an observation from personal experience as the owner of a small bike shop in Prince Albert . The Swartberg Pass with our without a visit to Die Hel is a very popular destination for mainly international cycling tourists and I make a point of it to talk to those passing through sometimes helping with repairs , spares and accommodation and route advice . I have seen few bikes valued over 20K . A lot of old faithful 26" bikes that they buy in Jburg or Cape Town and fit them with panniers and water holders . Point I am trying to make is that us South Africans , and I include myself are sometimes more concerned about the equipment than the journey . Secondly , we South Africans don't appreciate the bike travel opportunities in our own country . Stay healthy .
  9. IN that case , I am not riding
  10. No , not . Plenty of builds like that .
  11. I don't know if I like this . Hopefully uncle Ernesto made them pay !
  12. Mens sou dink dat met die lockdown gaan dit nie meer gebeur nie , mense is tuis en die diewe mag nie rondloop nie .
  13. Life is not that bad
  14. It came with the yellow and green installed that is for 75-80 kg riders . I am 83 so just left it as is and currently don't see a need to change .
  15. I see they make a suspension seatpost as well ...
  16. Disclaimer : I have no financial interest in this product . When our dirt roads in Prince Albert are in a good condition , riding a gravel bike is like the best of 2 worlds ; it is like riding a road bike and riding on a dirt road . But these roads do get corrugated and then a rigid fork does become a bit uncomfortable after a while on 40 or 43 tyres . I do have a Lauff fork on the shelf but felt it spoiled the look of my Lynskey GR270 . So I read about the Redshift suspension stem and all the write ups were good but I was still hesitant in making a 2.5K experiment . In the early nineties before front shocks became the standard on mountain bikes there was something I think it was called a Girvin suspension stem but that was horrible. So I took the plunge , ordered , paid and quick delivery from Gravel and Tour , Jhb. Fitted that last night and did a quick test ride this morning . And what a pleasure ; it takes all the sharpness out of corrugations without feeling that the handlebar drops , because that is what it does with the elastomers . Just a much much more pleasant ride. Love my Lynskey even more thanks to Redshift .
  17. Postponed to later to be confirmed date
  18. John has other ( Corona ) worries at the moment . There was damage to the Pass but it is rideable and the damage will be repaired . The storm was Thursday night , I cycled it Friday morning .
  19. Drill a small hole at the back of the seat tube , fit threaded plug ( with a pop rivet like tool) and thread a cable stop for a down pull Fd.
  20. Thanks . The difference in price is much more than the difference in performance . My riding does not justify the Lynskey but sold my road bike and the FARR frame so justified it to myself . It is a nice to have.
  21. My gravel bike on my way to the start of the CTCT on Sunday . Maxxis Ramblers 43's on , was considering buying a set of 35/38C road tyres but did not want to spend that for one tar event per year . Had a fantastic ride , nice gearing for and old man , good grip , hydraulic discs and no worries about punctures . On our dirt roads I sometimes long for a shock and I have a Lauff on the shelf but that will spoil a beautiful bike ?
