  1. @Kaka I work for a WASP and TMobile have a lot of complaints against them on other forums. It appears that they are doing random billing. First thing is to reply to that message with the keyword "STOP" - don't be funny by adding in other text else the system might disgard the request. Then go over to www.waspa.org.za and report the incident. It can take weeks to get some feedback but out of principle you need to do. The more complaints, the higher the fine from WASPA and the quicker these guys stop their nonsense.
  2. Then I cannot complain, I last got a CS quote 2yrs ago (Yeah, I'm lazy). Mine is R60 odd for R12K + R5K
  3. I have a standalone LG PVR that can write to DVD and USB, its possible that porn suppliers use this LG PVR or are using screen capture cards in PCs
  4. My insurance has just started this week on my bike and its with Hollard, all risk (Thanks to Tankman for getting me in touch with a broker). Too early to judge them but my other option was cyclesure and dropped that idea after the countless posts of their T&Cs changing last year. Hollard is (slightly) more expensive than Cyclesure but you get what you pay for.
  5. Nope and neither is it legal on a National road.
  6. @urbanroyal until the facts are available, we cannot condemn motorists or the cyclist involved. I see all to often where cyclists place themselves at risk by breaking the law, I also see motorists ignore the safety of fellow road users (cyclists). My condolences to the family and friends.
  7. And this is why I still run cheap old square taper
  8. I cannot see the danger of the bombs. Its a hard encasing with a soft metal skin so if the pressure caused it to pop, its just the membrane that would be breached and not the encasing shattering into a million shrapnel pieces. I would just wrap place between some undies in my check in luggage.

  10. So she can endorse for Verimark products for cyclist
  11. My friends wife is an MD and they thought with the Volvo she could use it for work (she manages buildings in Cape Town - Somerset West) and they could go camping, etc - there old Uno which they gave their son has turned out to be more reliable. They are stuck in that situation where they cannot sell the car as its worthless but they still owe more than its book value.
  12. Always wanted a Volvo till friends bought that 4x4 Station Wagon (2nd hand) - I thought they got an excellent deal as it looked and rode awesome. Well they have now spent 60% of the purchase price fixing the vechile.
  13. Hyuandai Helderberg wanted R550 for a Rear Brake Light during a service - wife told them to stuff it!!! When we got the car back (ATOS), they had already done the work but obviously decided to leave the R10 bulb in place instead of trying to remove it. But what gets me is when sub quality parts are used. We now get the car serviced elsewhere but when they replaced the broken driver side wiper blade, they used a R30 one (saw it on the invoice) - it broke again after less than a year and it happen on Wednesday when it rained while driving. Replaced it with a quality blade for R95
  14. CPA is a much needed legislation for the South African consumer.
  15. Its all these public holidays - I guess everybody is waiting till next month to settle down and focus on business (and employment) again.
  16. http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Chocolate-tycoon-died-in-bicycle-accident-20110418 Milan - Italian chocolate tycoon Pietro Ferrero, joint chief executive of the group that owns Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, has died in a biking accident in South Africa, a company spokesperson said Monday. Ferrero, who was 47, fell from his bicycle during a regular riding session, probably because he was taken ill, while on a business trip in South Africa, the spokesPerson told AFP, voicing the group's "deep dismay". No indication was given as to where the accident occurred. Ferrero had co-run the sweets company with his younger brother Giovanni since 1997. Their 85-year-old father Michele, who turned the firm into a global leader of the confectionery industry after taking over in 1957, is still the chairperson. Michele Ferrero, 85, is Italy's richest man according to the latest ranking by Forbes magazine, ahead of eyewear tycoon Leonardo Del Vecchio and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, a billionaire television mogul turned politician. "Italy has lost a businessman who represented the best qualities of our economic history," Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said in a statement. Frattini said Pietro Ferrero "brought an exceptionally important contribution to the Made in Italy brand around the world". For her part, the president of the Italian employers federation Confindustria, Emma Marcegaglia, expressed her "deep sadness over the tragic and sudden death," describing Ferrero as "an entrepreneur of quality and one of the greatest representatives of Italian capitalism." Secret recipe The Ferrero story began in the 1940s in Italy's northern Piedmont region. A local pastry chef also called Pietro Ferrero began the business with a secret recipe that used nuts to cut down on the more expensive cocoa in a spread that was to be called Nutella and quickly became wildly popular. The company also owns the Ferrero Rocher, Kinder and Tic-Tac brands. It had a turnover of EUR6.6bn in its 2009-2010 financial year - 4.3% higher than the previous year. It has 18 plants around the world and employs more than 21 000 people. The publicity-shy firm is entirely family-owned and has stayed away from big corporate takeovers or public listings. Last year, it did however signal interest in bidding for Britain's Cadbury, which was eventually taken over by Kraft Foods. - SAPA
  17. If the cost of the name is nominal, then I support it. EDIT: If I can have my wifes cellnumber somewhere on the kit, then she would gladly let me pay an extra R100. After 8yrs together I still don't know it
  18. My understanding is that they never used the farms with permission but if they do have permission from the farmer/s, then they have permission to roam the land off the route.
  19. FYI: Before you leave on your route, check out TomToms online route planner, it shows the live traffic as well. This will help you with deciding if a section of road should be avoided. http://routes.tomtom.com/#/map/?center=-28.485%2C24.68&zoom=3&map=basic
  20. I rode the R62 from Swellendam to Oudtshoorn and it was awesome, returned to Somerset West via R62 until Grabouw. If your doing it in the day, do the R62 - it was the best part of the whole trip. Now I'm planning my cycle tour of R62 as a result
  21. That was a classic thread 2yrs back, it was the Franschoek MTB race.
  22. Its amazing the suspicion immediately goes towards a Southern Suburbs LBS
  23. Actually its really easy to monitor forums nowdays. My boss uses another free website that monitors google for our companies name, helps him to track compliments & complaints. Gets a daily email. So I make sure I never mention my employer in public
  24. Well after the Giant pulled their dealership without warning from my LBS, I will not buy a GIANT again - going MERIDA instead. So GIANT boys, read that!
