  1. If they make it a designated bike lane, whatever that actually means, then according to the Western Cape laws the roadies on Beach Road will have to use it instead of the road. So let's hope they don't do that.
  2. Best get this up to before it's banned material. Me being a hazard to society! And a bike check: it has two wheels and a chainπŸ‘Œ The proposed solution is to cram all wheeled pedestrians onto the pavement between the parked cars and grass. This new venue will lead to far more problems than the current situation. Think car doors, people unloading children, people moving between cars from the road. And surprise, normal pedestrians. So exactly the same (if not more chaotic) environment as the promenade but not. But I think those calling for the ban are hoping it will stop people from coming at all rather than relocating. Bans are easy, solutions require thinking.
  3. Who'd make sure you lot don't run amok in our absence?
  4. I was checking my mail frantically to see if I had missed the invite. πŸ˜„
  5. If you've trained a fair amount πŸ‘‡ If not, then don't stress too much. A typical pre-race (taper) week will look like this: Day 1: REST – NO exercise! Day 2: 1.5 – 2 hour easy ride at a LOW intensity and high cadence (>90 RPM) Day 3: REST – NO exercise! Day 4: Warm up for 30 minutes at a LOW intensity. Follow this with 4 x 4 minute intervals at an intensity corresponding to your functional (lactate) threshold. Rest (ride easy) for 10 minutes between each of the 4 minute intervals. Cool down for 30 minutes. Day 5: REST – NO exercise! Day 6: 1.5 – 2 hours easy ride at a LOW intensity with 5 x 2 minute accelerations to bring your heart rate up to your functional threshold for last 30 seconds of each acceleration (Use relatively hard gear and moderate cadence (70-80 RPM). Rest 5 min between each of the accelerations. Day 7: Race day Source:
  6. I went looking so here's what I found: DSTV Variety 1 (206): Saturday 15:00 - 19:00 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Elite '22 (After the UAE Tour Stage 7) Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne - I can't find anything on DSTV GCN
  7. If segments are the concern, then here's the solution: Segment Leaderboard Guidelines – Strava Support "Use the E-bike Ride and Virtual Ride activity types" If the rider is not doing this (and you really feel hard done by) then report the activity. It will be removed. People have been cheating on leaderboards long before e-bikes.
  8. Further to the comprehensive rules placing clear limits on ebikes. It is also worth noting that for the CTCT the results are published as separate events. Maintaining the purity of the time sheets, for those that care for such things.
  9. Riders can choose who they draft. Is it the ebiker to blame if others decide that they feel it acceptable to draft?
  10. Please try this: Go to the Notifications settings here: https://forum.bikehub.co.za/notifications/options/ Under the "Followed Content" tab, untick the options.
  11. Ebikes are not as fast as you think. Especially if they adhere to the max assist speeds and wattage rules. It would be carnage if the ebikers went out first at a road race.
  12. Is the problem in this scenario really the ebiker though?
  13. It was fast heading towards pay only anyway. Looking at the countries listed below, most of the major viewing markets were already sold to other TV networks:
  14. No deny Red Bull has done amazing things. My one gripe was that the main and peripheral content had a massive bias towards their sponsored athletes. So did the commentators. How often did we hear about every minor detail about Emily in 30th position with no mention of anyone else around her? It's a fair trade-off but in terms of impartial and more inclusive coverage, there is room for improvement. It's going to interesting. Red Bull are likely running it all at a massive loses in the name of content marketing for Red Bull TV. Few companies have the appetite for this and we were lucky to have them but it was never going to last forever. Now a company who looks to monetise the product is coming in. Be it advertising, subscription fees. There will be changes. But if they get it right (massive IF), potentially it could up the professionalism of the sport. Anyone know how a similar deal has gone for track racing?
  15. The rules for CTCT: https://www.capetowncycletour.com/race-entry-terms-and-conditions/ "The fastest time that a cyclist, using an e-bike, may complete the event is 3hr 50min. Any e-bike cyclists recording a time of less than 3hr 50min will be disqualified." Don't worry, your hard earned sub-3 isn't at risk. Your example of bike switches. Cheating is cheating, regardless of ebikes. Report their race numbers to the organisers.
  16. Thanks for confirming. I'm hoping to have a fix out early next week.
  17. Thanks for the update. Just to clarify, you're try to delete the expired adverts?
  18. @Razor1972 A possible fix was deployed this morning. Please can you try again and let me know if you still experience this problem. Thanks.
  19. Thanks! I'll get the team to look at it in the morning.
  20. The Classifieds: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/c/jerseys
  21. Thanks for letting us know. A few others have also been experiencing the same problem. Is it a currently active advert or one that you have previously Marked as Sold? Where do you come unstuck? After the delete options box pops up or do not even see the box? (Example below). Or do you select a specific option and then click "Confirm" and nothing happens? Sorry, lots of questions.
  22. Yesterday the number was 0815518454
  23. Hi Rallye Thanks for reporting this. We received an identical report about this guy yesterday. Sending an "Uber" for collection. The offending account was been banned yesterday. I've just banned the one that contacted you today.
  24. Hold your horses... Poor little Events Bot πŸ€– is only just beginning on the early April events. There is always this option if you're looking for some work: https://bikehub.co.za/events/create
