  1. Rad! There is this "Cycling South Africa - ‘Membership’ is required by potential winner". Not that I'm a potential winner. I thought we'd be free of this nonsense in Watopia but I suppose if you want it to be an officially recognised national championship you have to. Soon we'll be paying day licenses to ride in Zwift races
  2. Damn, so some of us are set to slide even further down the rankings Some of those that do appear seem to have had their pont break included while other riders had it correctly excluded, dramatically skewing some of the results.
  3. My Race: I punctured badly 20km in when I hit a very sharp rock hidden by the mist and riders in the group. Watched my friends wave while they rode passed in the following bunch. Managed to inflate it just enough to crawl to the first water point. Got things fixed there. After smashing back some jelly babies, I time trialled like a madman in an attempt to catch my friends. As I got to the pont, they waved at me from halfway across the river I devoured the best roosterkoek of my life and jumped on the next pont. Continued playing catch up into the head wind. But in the end, the breakaway succeeded (comfortably) but damn it was fun trying. A shout out to the Cape Multisport couple on the Cannondale tandem for offering me their wheel to follow near the end. I needed it! The Race: Beautiful views, smooth roads, lekker vibe from riders and organisers. I'll be back!
  4. Let's hope those corrugations are few and far apart.
  5. Not sure whether this helps you in deciding but our trio is riding gravel bikes. So you won't be alone should it turn out to be a bad choice (which I really don't think it will be)
  6. I'm dieting for the lunch break at Malgas
  7. Offering to help me out?
  8. Does this do the trick? https://fantasytour.bikehub.co.za/dashboard
  9. It appears to have taken a turn for the worst on my results today. We'll check it out. Thanks.
  10. Points for the stage should be trickling through. As always, kindly let me know if you spot any inconsistencies.
  11. An update on prizes! Wahoo SA has given the main prize a big boost. On top of the Wahoo KICKR, the winner will now also receive the following hamper:ELEMNT BOLTKICKR MattTICKR HR BeltWahooligan CYCLUST SOCKSWahooligan Road CAPWahoo Bike Sweat GuardWahoo CIOVITA RACE FIT JERSEYWeekly Prizes Knog is giving away a set of PWR Rider and a rear Blinder lights each week. Details on how to win these weekly prizes will follow on the Fantasy Tour website.
  12. The rules will apply as per usual. Participants have until 11h10 SAST on Saturday, 7 July 2018 to pick their teams. This is the official start time for the first stage. So you can change your team freely until then. There is the chance that Froome will make the official start list but does not start. In that case, he will be marked as dropped out on the Fantasy League.
  13. It's much the same as last year. The most combative rider gets a few more points and there is a team time trial. The biggest change is probably the team size. This year there are 8 riders in a team but we've thrown in an extra substitute.
  14. It seems that Zwift is starting to build hype for the rumoured New York course:
  15. We've got an article explaining it here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/news/mtb/sa-mtb/which-will-your-sani2c-be-trail-adventure-or-race-r7379 Short answer, nothing much really...
  16. Iwan only found out after he had bought and tried to squeeze into the women's version...
  17. This kit? https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/men/canyon-sram/category/mens-canyon-sram
  18. We've got some more details here.
  19. I'm in for 2019 My Airbnb host says that some of you sneaky buggers are trying to push in on my booking
  20. Spez is enjoying fuelling the rage
  21. Likewise. Instead of not riding enough, I ride a lot. It makes me pretty tired. Even before the opportunity of the weekend's long trail ride arrives, I've usually put in two or three rides. The tired legs often have me turning back for home while I yearn for more shreddie. Places like Jonkershoek destroy tired legs. So in last night's dream but practical bike selection discussion, the trail bike was throw out to be replaced by *shock and horror* a trail ebike. The simple reason, it'd be more fun! Of course, the makeup of said bike collection changes hourly I suppose the hard men and women would say that I'm being lazy. I should interval harder and base mile slower. So when I eventually hit a taper week, then on that special weekend, I'll be strong enough to satisfy my trail riding desires.
  22. Thoroughly enjoyed this race. If you need more convincing, check out our daily race reports from this year's event: Day 1; Day 2; Day 3.
  23. The Innsbruck 2018 World Champs course is coming in August. The climbs should hopefully make it more entertaining than Richmond. Actually, a good opportunity to retire Richmond. https://community.zwift.com/news/6671-2018-uci-road-world-championships-course-in-zwift
  24. How much battery does Zwift use on a phone? I suppose a few power banks should solve that. I wonder how the in-game distance vs real life distances will compare. Might be best to wait for a Richmond day to get the most out of it. Here's an article on data rates: https://zwiftinsider.com/zwift-data-usage/ "To really save data, ride alone. Start your ride, disconnect from the Internet, ride for as long as you want, then reconnect to “end ride” and upload your ride file. Your usage will be about 10MB in total. It’s lonely, but a data cheap way to ride!"
  25. Kylie's Bike Hub race report is up including fantastic photos by Jacques Marais here. Thanks to Jacques, we didn't have to use my GoPro shots
