  1. Just a reminder for those yet to enter, the competition closes at 5pm today. The winner will be announced at 12pm on Tuesday.
  2. Here's a little throwback to the last time Jérôme visited Cape Town: Warning: Explicit images of the old Tokai trails being shredded.
  3. Yes, of course. It's a stunner. But interview first
  4. The Wreckoning was conceived on the back of the success of the Evil’s first 29 inch wheel bike, The Following. Being extremely pleased with how the big wheeled The Following rode, Evil thought they would take things up a notch with The Wreckoning, a hard-hitting 29” enduro beast. 5. Currently, there are plans for an XL frame option.
  6. After a bit of time lost in the wilderness, Morewood Bikes is back. The first new model they will be releasing is the Zula LT. The original Zula was a trail capable marathon racer which many riders ended up riding as a local trail bike. The new Zula LT keeps the 27.5" wheel platform but comes with more travel and a greater focus on trail riding. We chatted to Sam Bull at Crank Chaos about the prototype Zula LT. 7. Previously, I would agree. But the new breed of XC race bikes are becoming far more trail friendly. The geometry of the Spark RC and even the new Scalpel-Si are good examples.
  8. Actual weight of a Large with a healthy dose of tyre sealant, lots of Lesotho dirt, and a bottle cage (excluding pedals) is 14.23 kg.
  9. I'll weigh it tomorrow.
  10. The Scott Spark is an iconic cross-country and marathon race bike. While it may have been tempting to stick to a successful formula, Scott took the bold move to completely redesign the Spark range. For 2017, forget what you knew about the Scott Spark as everything from suspension design, geometry, and even the intended riding style has seen a complete overhaul. Click here to view the article

  15. 2016 has had its successes for Stefan Garlicki. He defended his SA National Champs title at Cascades in July, snatched a win in the iXS Downhill Cup, and has been putting up a fight on the World Cup circuit. 16. The engineer behind the BMC Teamelite 01 is a bold man. The soft tail era of mountain biking in the early 90s is generally looked back on with ridicule but a lot has changed in the last twenty years. So is the time right for soft tail to ride again? I was eager to find out with the BMC Teamelite 01 XT. Click here to view the article
  17. The third (and final) video is now available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPmZcXiVQVM
  18. First Look Friday is an introduction to the gear that we are currently testing for review. This week we've got the brand new Scott Spark; a Volvo bike rack, and MRP's Ramp Control Cartridge. Click here to view the article
  19. The Weskus Fat Bike Adventure is a truly unique experience. The main focus is to enjoy the ride - there is no timing and no race positioning - riders simply head off once the last rider is ready (and when the tides allow). This approach creates a very social atmosphere in the campsite and out on the bike. - Photos by Craig Kolesky. Click here to view the article
  20. Five Ten made their name with big shoes with sticky soles to grip pins on flat pedals. The launch of the Kestrel range last year signified a new direction for Five Ten. The sleeker more performance focussed SPD shoe was a departure from the skate style Five Ten are famous for. The Kestrel Lace released to market earlier this year took a step back from the aggressive Kestrel, embracing more of a traditional Five Ten style. Click here to view the article
