  1. January feels like 9 years ago…. …and a few enduro’s ago too. All of which we have done. And to be fair to the organisers…they have improved throughout the year in this regard. hope we get some fun-duro’s agsin at the end of the year. Right @BikeGenie? A nice paarl or conties one in 40*C?
  2. They are the worst! Especially on anything with a deeper centre channel. They were so hard to get right on a set of hope 20Five’s that i didnt even bother ever riding with a tube. If they flatted and the tubeless didnt to it’s thing….then you are screwed anyway haha.
  3. This. Tygerberg is borderline boring on too much suspension. With the exception of the rhinos, im pretty sure a HT will kill a dualy on almost everything around here in the right persons hands.
  4. Many factors i get it, i get slightly better at this every time i guess….but i smashed my time down armageddon at jonkers on my 140mm hardtail by 40sec vs my 160mm enduro bike. Hardtails are plenty fun. edit: what i mean is, im fortunate enough to flip a coin and decide what im going to play with, and the hardtail is yet to disappoint. I thought doing a jonkers enduro on it will mean instant death, but now i just want to go try some more stupid things on it. It leaves me smiling and thinking how awesome it is everytime. Dual sus bikes are also fun…but the reward of getting it right on the HT is so much nicer imo.
  5. Same. I even have new things that I never ended up using. But i mean it’s not like I have enough parts to open a store or anything. I will admit though that if I accidentally trip and fall with my card in my hand and in so doing acquire a new frame….it is totally possible for a bicycle to start growing around said frame😅 Hi my name is Morné….and i don’t have a problem…YOU have a problem😁
  6. One thing you need to realise is with longer bikes, if you get your weight to far back or not over the front enough…you will lose front grip to the point where the front will feel wallowy, wash out super easy and generally just wont feel hooked up. Especially at slacker head angles. It might feel unnerving to begin with on steep downhills, but you soon realise that its actually way safer being that far forward on a long bike. I do empathise with your predicament though. Just being able to sit and roll through things makes it hard to get weight where it needs to be on the downs. I still think that for many of us who started riding shorter bikes, it almost takes longer to re-learn how to ride these new things than people who began to ride 2-5y ago. My hardtail is a shorter bike than my enduro bike and i find it easier to ride. It’s pointy and direct no matter how far I gang off the back. I have to force myself over the front on my big bike otherwise it just understeers everwhere.
  7. also…the very first ferraris were actually Alfa’s😜
  8. Im I the only one who clicked the link hoping for less branding?👀. Imagine that raw frame with just the TR somewhere. These bikes are all pretty, my personal reasons for not ‘wanting to need’ one is the slightly over the top branding on the downtubes. Less is more imo. Ps, the same reason why i don't like TRRRREEEKKKK’s!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Hey…its the size of a modern formula 1 car at least?🤷🏻‍♂️😝
  10. I drive one of these around I also have big feet 🤷🏻‍♂️
  11. Hey! i owned a 83 mk1 GTI and I also parked it away from curbs as to not scratch the factory alloy wheels 😜
  12. Should we take this to whatsapp?
  13. Ill never crash in front of you, im too slow…
  14. (Proceeds to go stroke Soma Wolverine and Atala Professionisti inappropriately while reciting lines from Golem, LOTR)
  15. Peasant…
  16. My cotic as you know is booked for rocket surgery (pun intended). I was referring to my Banshee🤣 was that a douche move?
  17. Stop showing people what i look like. There is s bounty on my head…
  18. This argument is kind of moot for boutique brands who dont update their frames every year. So for intance….do you own a 2019 bike (first release, but still the latest version) in 2023 or do you own a 2023 bike because you bought it NIB mint sauce in 2023? moral of the story….buy less mass produced bikes? 😅
  19. I have a pair of free rider pros but unfortunately they are not easy to get to SA these days. They aren't available here, and even if they were…im sure you’ll only get them im children's sizes like everything else here these days (max 11) Unicorns i tell you. I got my size 14 ones on a flash 50% off sale at some italian online store and full well knew that import tax will add that 50% back on and then an additional 25% and then some haha. So in the end i paid what you would for them at full retail….but the sale meant i wasn't going to pay double atleast. Hey, and i got some in my size…im looking at you Leatt! (Local my gat!) I have some bike spicific etnies with a Michelin sole (only because they also make bigger shoes and have local stock), and the 5-tens are almost too grippy. Once you are stood on them its hard to adjust your foot without lifting it. They feel a bit less sticky on some crappy spank pedals on another bike which i actually slightly prefer. I might take some pins out to get some of that ‘float’ back but yes, i fully agree why people say they are the gold standard. When you get them, put them on straight out of the box and try and drag your foot over a tiled floor. You basically cant😅
  20. I don't care, my sized bikes will look fine. You all can use ‘children sized’ wheels on your bikes☺️
  21. So… 650b is finally dead then? …and reserved for future children’s bikes 😅
  22. That climb is still hectic but the trail down is kind of fun because it is at least fast if nothing else. It should get a lot more interesting once it breaks up a bit. Maybe everyone take a rock up and drop it on the trail somewhere☺️. Also, Good on you for committing and going up there. Sometimes its just worth riding up something for the views. Not everything is about shredding the gnar.
