  1. Clearly the answer is a single speed road bikešŸ˜…
  2. @droo has a medium in stock toošŸ˜Ž
  3. You were giving my new hardtail a few looks on saturday…so you dobt seem to have an issue with my plaashek bikes, next time you can have a go, just ask
  4. If I chopped about 30cm off my legs yes….
  5. Yes yes, but I was talking about the less used hardtail for plonking around the neighbourhood.
  6. Or….bring it to me and i’ll do a single speed conversion for you and tou can stop worrying about gears and ratios because you’ll always be in the wrong gear anyway. We can do 32-20 ratio on yours. Like a nice mid cassette ratio. Where you live during the week is perfect SS territory. Not too hilly. And a SS bike is arguably the fastest way to build fitness. And they are just fun!
  7. See thats the difference between a real armchair cyclist and one you bump into at the trails at any given day haha. The one talks and cares about strava stalking and the other is busy riding, enjoying his bike with friends. my strava prolly says I only push my bike out the garage and back every week🤣
  8. ā€œThere are only 3 sports: bullfighting, motor racing and mountaineering. The rest are merely gamesā€ - Ernest Hemingway that metric puts mountain biking pretty high up the list😁
  9. I grew up in PTA..riding a bike everywhere, from moreleta…to the university, to menlyn to the CBD. Ive rode to Delmas when I was about 16 (girlsšŸ˜…) I rode via klapperkop, fountains circle into town. We used to ride to and from school in pitch black and cold weather, sometimes 10/11pm at night when there were things on at school. And then not how….via delmas road, through a velt in the pitch black haha. I lived about 14km from school. I rode to centurion via fountains circle ( friends…and girlsšŸ˜…) This was between 1996 and 2001. Between 2004 and 2010 I used to do similar rides to and from university between pta east and tuks. But it was already feeling dodge around the lynwood extremities as you got closer to nelmapius etc. We moved to CT in 2014. I can wholeheartedly say…that i wouldn't ride a bike (feeling safe) in any of those areas anymore. The places that get called out in the WC are areas very similar to most those places in pta. You are correct in your statement. As with anything, you need to be more vigilant in certain areas than others…but people still ride there. Some of the places people get attacked, noted on this thread, and places it happens in the WC….I can only shake my head and think ā€˜rookies’, or ā€˜what the hell are they thinking’. #streetsmarts You are correct in your assessment of the private farms around here, i feel safe around here….its the reason I also don't ride on the road anymore really. Same for all the trailheads around the cape. And they are busy most times of the day. ive never seen anyone on any of the farms and thought….hmmm, what are they doing here. Hell the farmers will shoot mtb’rs after dark haha.
  10. Welcome to Cape Town @Kiwi more awesome bike brands in the mother city - yes please! 🤘🤘🤘
  11. Should be a cross-trail-network-epicšŸ‘€ linking up all the goodies.
  12. That rain is coming around thursday I think (by looking at the satellite pictures) if so…we should be fine, although it will 100% get everything nice and moist for the event… The problem might be the cold front that is supposed to hit some time after the heavy rain on thursday/friday… Hopefully we catch the gap…might even be sunny for a bitšŸ˜… But you definitely arent sneaking a quick mid week practise session anything after wednesday though.
  13. Thanks guys, was fun. And thanks for the work you put into getting more people into the lighter side of MTBing.
  14. Wow…you sure you are even qualified to ride a harley?šŸ˜…
  15. I have one of those on my enduro bike. Amazing fork.
  16. Nice bike! i dont want to be that guy though… BUT….. you paid a lot of money for that obviously…why does it have an old Lyrik on it?šŸ˜…
  17. Also don't have tassels…
  18. I get you franna, i also rolled 3-4 grips onto my cricket bats haha. Girth matters…and like @Hairy would say….ā€she saidā€šŸ˜
  19. Also…KK is in kZN, do people still live there?šŸ˜… (Disclaimer: I say that as someone who was born and bred there, even though I was eventually schooled in the big smoke and now live in the last stronghold of the WC haha….and I really, REALLY don't like going there anymore…for any reason.
  20. Riding jonkers after not doing it for a while is almost what some ppl would describe as a religious experience. There is just something about that place, the mountains, the quiet, the views, the exposure on some of the trails. It makes you feel….small, but also calm and most importantly….100% in the moment. I almost like that I can only go there once in a while. It makes it even more of an experience.
  21. Old age… thanks for reminding me, ill forget later.
  22. The bumper is nice. Thats my pet hate on my fav grips (Deathgrips / Bartenders). One minor fall and they look secondhand on the sides. But i use them due to their wider diameter. can anyone share some insights into what these measure in diameter? Edit: nvm, ek lees soos my gat…it’s right there - 31.5mm.
  23. ox wagons made it over the drakensberg…they also cant puncturešŸ˜… I’m pretty sure you can walk into any specialised store or cyclelab even in the big smoke and find some Butchers and Magic Mary’s. You just need to walk past the lycra and crossmarks. As with most things…the good stuff is kept in the back😁
  24. What shoulder? šŸ‘€ Eks in soos Gin. Even if just for the light.
  25. I love dhrII. Im hoping the DHF forces me to learn how to lean the bike more then haha. Shoulder feels fine..i mean it’s attached still so i guess it works haha, i’ll see this weekend…my first time back on the bike. Funny enough my wrist which initially felt fine is now acting up and in a brace. I turned 40 on the 5th,so I can now blame Old age?…prolly needs some of that q20 @Hairy puts on his brakes for lube. Think ill ride ā€˜the mattress’ just in case though. But i’m entered for the enduro again on the 28th so even if I have to do the light…im going. So much fun.
