  1. Well…technically the 1000$ includes foreign VAT?. But as with everything here…take oversees retail and add 25%🤣 (1000x18=18k +25% = R22500….hey wait a minute haha) ….more like 60% right?…(1000x18 =18k +60% = R28k ish) bastards….
  2. Sunday will be dry. Plesier😅
  3. We are doing this in full enduro mode for laughs @BikeGenie
  4. Entered this last year but cant remember why i didn't end up going🧐 At my current fitness levels ill only make it halfway without dying though😅
  5. They were awesome last time around too. I remember the high school kids at the last waterpoint the most - i think 10km from the end. I was DONE…mud all the way to my gooch DONE. But their energy under that gazebo in the poring rain helped epic amounts.
  6. All the pot entries in classifieds tells you all you need to know about the weather forecast haha
  7. Im a pleb, and cant really ride for chit, but yes my enduro bike does just fine, and im 90kg at the moment too. I have a Reynolds 853 bike, a Tange prestige bike and a columbus slx bike. They are all super nice riding frames. I was more talking about the heavy steel things that some brands market as “steel is real” when in fact they are just heavy-harsh-ass overbuilt trusses.

  9. Wat bedoel jy? Ek se mos dit lyk lekker lol. I use that caustic soaking method to bling up smaller parts like brake adaptors etc. Yes i want a silver stem too…but i cant justify dropping a R2k black burgtec stem in some caustic soda solution haha. I might do it with a generic i have lying around to try though
  10. Farr is, and has not been ‘local’ for a quite a while now. Having had one of those gravel frames in my stable, in conjunction with many other boutique steel frames, these are cheap in comparison for a reason. Which also means they are heavy AF and not that compliant at all. You cant just look at the welds and make a call. Steel is not steel is not real. There is this misconception that all steel bikes are plush and compliant and that all alloy bikes are harsh. Its a falacy. As with anything…when it comes to steel bikes and the type of tubing used….you get what you pay for. A crappy steel bike can be more harsh than a good alloy bike. GOOD steel is real. im willing to bet my life that a Mercer rides better than anything on that farr website - as an example. i even have a hand made steel enduro bike and it gets picked up and felt up more than a taiwanese ladyboy over weekends. Bro’s are always shocked at how light it is for it’s size. Its lighter than some carbon ones out there. too many welded-up-from-mildsteel-water-pipe frames out there riding the Steel-Is-Real bandwagon 😅
  11. I know that trick. Looks lekker.
  12. So the same as last time then? Cold, wet, muddy. I would suggest a hardtail if you have a choice….that last bit on a drop bar bike was torture in the mud after getting through 99% . Also, bring an extra water bottle and lube so you can clean your drivetrain. Dont try to stay dry….you’ll only end up keeping the water and mud IN haha. Please stop washing your bibs in OMO……also, wet it, put it on, bend over in front of a mirror. If you can see that your starfish needs bleaching…get a new bib please.
  13. Did he test and dash? Or was it a scam proof of payment? Sucks. Probably not his real name?
  14. Also: “Heavy feet, light hands” As an ex-roady….keep this front of mind every time you are bombing down some single track, it will become muscle memory soon enough. You’ll be surprised how much better you’ll ride and how much more in control you’ll be when you let the bike move under you.
  15. Let them find out for you at the distributor: https://www.paragontech.co.za/product/wolf-tooth-tanpan-sh11-universal-tanpan-sh11-inline/ i had one not too long ago but sold it with a bike. Worked great. Had it hooked up to 105 11 speed shifters, shimano XT m8000 rear mech with an 11-46 casette. ps, wolftooth sells, ships direct to SA via ups or dhl. You obviously just need to buy enough stuff to justify the shipping cost.
  16. Yes, silver bar. When i feel like it ill slowly start replacing all the parts in raw cnc alu look lol. Chainring is already ps i was super miffed to learn that there were no silver Pikes in the country either🤣
  17. Im sorry to say but i hate dealing with them as the distro so much that all my Hope purchases have gone through a middleman so that they can deal with their tardiness instead. And even then some of those orders had issues.😅
  18. Hopefully not to pay that for a pro4 front hub 😅. hope pro 5 for R250 more: https://evobikes.co.za/product/pro-5-mtb-hub-boost-front/ hope prob 4 for R200 less: https://evobikes.co.za/product/hope-pro-4-front-hub-32h-110x15-boost-black/ or if you dont mind red…R600 less: https://evobikes.co.za/product/hope-pro-4-front-hub-32h-110x15-boost-red/ but to answer your actual question…never heard of them.
  19. Has to Suck if you booked and paid for accommodation. But i guess nothing is stopping anyone from having an informal/ untimed group ride and just enjoy the vibes. Thats what it’s about anyway right? To be honest, i think thats where these are heading anyway. This ‘class’ of riding/ event just doesn't seem to want to get going, which is unfortunate. Also, you can only have so many Jonkershoek days before that becomes boring too. thanks for trying though @Christofison
  20. That wasn't the point lol. But let me elaborate. The point is, technologically, the Japanese variant is relatively stone aged versus the german counterpart, but they both exist and both are sold and both have their respective target markets. Edit: ….and cult followings! Audi/vw will not be putting toyota out of business in our lifetime atleast. And also,…these days if you can afford to own/drive a land cruiser…you can 100% afford a 4x4 beetle lol, even for only the school run in the burbs. The best is when you see a totally kitted out overlanding machine with everything on the roof in showroom condition 🤣. Both rich mans toys and for the most part to help stroke an ego😅
