  1. I think this rule of waiting for the race leader has changed lately. Not so long ago a certain Mr Contador also attacked when And Schleck lost his chain. Maybe a few years ago the main contenders had respect for each other, or enough confidence in their abbility to wait for the other contenders rather than attacking on their mishaps.
  2. I probably had to add that it is a road bike I'm looking for.
  3. Which shops sell Scott in Jhb. And which models should one look at in the R 20 000 to R 30 000 range?
  4. Stupid question. How do you know it is actually the ITB giving problems?
  5. These scum can't be called animals. My dogs behave bettter than that. They will blame Verwoerd for this. As showerhead blames Verwoerd for the book crisis in Mpumulanga.
  6. Up can be fun.
  7. Thanks for the advice. So setup first and then decide on which saddle/seat.
  8. I need advice on which seat I should get to continue riding. I visited the doctor yesterday again regarding issues with my prostate.(Luckily not Cancer.) But he adviced me to change seats as the presure on that area can cause re occurence of my problem. Now my dilemma is which one to get. His advice was to get something softer and wider. Ladies specific came to mind. Please help with advice.
  9. The best would be to ask them for a detailed cost breakdown. By law there is set rates that they are allowed to charge for transfer and bond registration. What might be included in the amount is Bond initiation fees as well as an amount for the Council clearance certificate. The clearance certificate is normally an estimation of 6 months council bill that need to be paid before transfer can take place.
  10. Who can recommend a coach for a youngster of 17 who recently took up cycling. He is in the Fourways area.
  11. The ripoff is that specially on road races they are the only ones taking fotos. So either pay that price or don't get any fotos. Take for instance the bigger races like Argus. 20 000 fotos at 46.50 and they make R 900 000. Normally price should come down when there is higher volumes. And that price for digital fotos. So no other cost than the equipment and admin involved. And how are they operating with the photographers anyway? Surely they not all permanent employees. Say they have 40 photographers at the Argus paying each R 5000 for the day, if it is that much. Then selling one foto foreach entry on average.( some people normally buy more than one foto.) so the salary for the photographers are R 200 000 giving them stil the small profit of R 700 000. And then they still can't take decent fotos. When I ride tandem with my daughter they always take fotos from the front where you can barely see it is a Tandem never mind the second person on the back. So yes it is a ripoff. Those fotos should not be more than R 25 each.
  12. Mallo I think a correction is fitting here. You quickly forget history. It is not the corrupt ANC government that gave you all that. It were the whites that thought and hoped that the future will be better for all and voted YES to end apartheid in 1992 that gave you all that. The ANC piggy backed on that goodwill all the years.
  13. Rouxtjie take the baby with you. They normally let the people with babies go to the front of the key and it is 5 minutes in and out.
  14. Anyone that will not be voring should be locked up in the same room as Julius for a week.
  15. Firstly condolences to the family. I'm lately to scared to go on that route due to the amount of traffic. Captain Slow, you said that we are all adults and should not need policing. But unfortunately I think the problems on the roads are the same as everywhere else. There is no consequences of action that anyone take. The attitude of why should I keep to the rules, what would happen if I don't. If people know that they will get caught and fined, or loose their licences they might behave on the roads. We visited Germany last year. The drivers their refuse to even start the car if everyone don't have their belts on. They will also not load more than the legal number of people in their vehicles and rather do two trips to transport everyone. So the fact is if there is consequences for breaking the rules of the road, or for that matter breaking any law, then there will be that feeling of "self policing" and everyone would hopefully behave better.
  16. I have been stopped in a roadblock on Friday and again on Monday on my way home. Friendly officers, checking license and my car. Not a hint of a bribe. I don't care if this happens because I don't have anything to hide. Seems that those complaining about the roadblocks is the ones getting fines and not paying them and stresses everytime they see a road block.
  17. Gato It is this type of response that don't win any friends for us cyclists. This guy already worries about the reaction of the guys on the road when he confronted them. And as part of a clubs exco this is not the correct type of response to complaints. If your club were at fault or percieved to be at fault rather speak to the club members and also maybe send some of your exco members to observe what is happening. Probably if the exco members are riding with the group they behave and as soon as they on their own thay don't give a damn.
  18. Crack I think you understate this numbers. According to this 2008 article in Cape Town alone they have fined 35000 drivers without valid licences and something like 91000 licences found to be false. http://drivemearound.wordpress.com/2009/01/20/more-unlicensed-drivers-being-caught/ If I can remember a month or so ago the was an article where it actually states that around 470 000 licences were found to be fake country wide, but so far only about 2700 has been cancelled as they have to find the people and take them to court before it can be cancelled. Also in the unlikely case where an unlicenced driver are caught the fine is only R 1250. See fines as at April 2009 here. http://www.insurancefinder.co.za/insurance-news/articles/New-Traffic-Fines-Structure-in-South-Africa.aspx
  19. Where do one get these software?
  20. Wannabe I think the fact that the meter boxes are locked is your problem. The readers can't get to the meters and then thumb suck a value. they get paid per meter they actually read. So speak to the body corporate. They are not allowed to refuse you access to the meters. Also speak to the other people in the complex. Yopu might find that they have exacetly the same readings as you on there bills. I the reading boxes are locked someone from the body corporate is suppose to open them on reading day which is probably not happening.
  21. Wannabe, you don't say if you stay in a complex or free standing house. If it is a free standing house open the meter box and see if the meter match the readings on your account. They should have opening and closing readings on there. If it is a complex you should have access to the meters via the body corporate. What normally happens here the readers are lazy and read one meter and enter the same reading for all the complexes units. Then you can verify if the readings correspond with your account. Also if in a complex flip the trip switch in the unit and then check your meter. If it is still running the body corporate need to sort it. There might be something else connected to your meter.
  22. Leet This is under correction but primary teachers look at around R 9000 before deductions. Oh plus the R 630 housing subsidy. But if two teachers are married they only get one subsidy between them.
  23. I see this as having two sides. To make the government listen they must strike!! BUT respect those that don't want to strike. I'm sure most of you here earns at least double of what teachers with 10 + years expeirience earn. I have a lot of teacher friends as well as family that are teachers. Yes teaching is a calling but those people need to live as well. It is shocking to hear what these teacher's salaries are. Then you can see why the schools loose real good teachers. Who of you will tolerate some of these hooligans that teachers have to teach for that salary? Some of the children in school don't have any manners or respect for teachers, and then the teachers are not allowed to do anything to the poor innocent souls.
  24. TNT1 Thanks
  25. Mampara You welcome to come play, we do cater for gay men and also don't discriminate against them. So you are welcome.
