  1. Chris. This is bad luck. What is strange is that it is high end bikes and TT bikes as well. That won't be uset as commuter bikes. Maybe a syndicate taking the bikes into Africa? Maybe you guys should look at lockup cables through the frames of these high end bikes. Best would be to get a guard armed with a shotgun, one that is willing to use it. All the best to find this bikes. Ian

  3. I handed my licence application to the club on 4 Feb 09 and Fiday got a message that it is at the club. Maybe the issue is with MYRACE.

    KOM rider

Deamon I can't see the foto? What bike he riding?
  5. Staal I think the main concern was the silent treatment he got on enquiring about the price money. In business it is totally unacceptable not to return any messages you get. And the excuse about the bank code is pathetic as it is the easiest thing to obtain. And if you do an electronic transfer it is even given to you. I'm sure these same people will be calling 20 times a day if anyone owes them money.
  6. Intern Although CSA won't do much about this you should send Lenny, Tanya the race office a mail and then include CSA and The Star's marketing office a mail claiming immediate payment. I'm sure the Star as main sponsor won't be to happy with this. Maybe Holy can help with the correct contact details there. The same with those that waited so long for their price money for the 94.7 Sent a mail to 94.7 and Include Jeremy Mansfield. See what they say about it.
  7. Do these bike shops have insurance on their stock?
  8. Wisecrack. The same happened to my CS200. The two side ones broke of. They should be able to replace the back cover. I will take it to them later this week.
  9. I think this is all related to honesty as well. If the organizers allow you to use one number for all races you will get people that will attend races without entering. I think there is two solutions to this. Either have a "gate" before entering the shutes where your chip get scanned and verified if you have entered, but this might be time consuming. The other is a fine system where if you ride a race without entering a fine equal to say double the entry fee get send to you. The problem here is how many people have their correct address details on the timing companies. It might be worth looking at for the organizers. If you get emailed a number that you can print you can easily print ten numbers, and there is ways does not matter how it is done to change the numbers, say you are seeded XX for tha Argus you can modify it to A and start where you want.

    Stolen cars

I think if the organizers plan to use a venue like Nasrec for a start then they should expect crime as it is not a circle route so the event would be desserted for a couple of hours. They should get a security company which have accountability and not some car guards picked of the street where the organizers don't even know their names let alone id number or history. All this to save money at the expense of the cyclists supporting the event.
  11. If you compare the two polls it seems as a lot of the youngsters here are 19 as this poll ask up to 18 and have only 1 vote. The other pole ask under 20 and have 14 votes.
  12. I think the question should actually be what is the combined weight of you and your bike. At this stage I can get on the lightest bike here and some of you on the heaviest one and my total will still be the heaviest.
  13. Nancy Here is the details. Got the name wrong. Polar Service Centre: IHF Products cc P. O. Box 4021 Halfway House 1685 South Africa Tel: (011) 805-1028 Fax: (011) 805-5498
  14. Nancy I bought one at sportsmans warehouse at the Glen. Also saw some at Solomons in Pretoria. I'm sure if you contact the polar guys in Midrand they will be able to help you. I think HFS Industries or something like that.

    New mtb'er

paule Rietvlei is in Alberton. Wendel got the CycleHub there and they habe trails there. Look at http://www.rietvleifarm.co.za/web/cyclehub.asp the directions is somewhere on there. I think that is probably the best way to see if you want to do MTB and to decide what is the best bike to get.

    New mtb'er

I'm in the same position but made the following decision. Not sure if it is right or wrong. I were at Rietvlei yesterday and the rent bikes there for a small amount. In the new year I will be going there and use one of thier bikes for a while. That means no maintenance and then when I decide I like it will hopefully be able to make a more informed decision what to buy. And if you going to do the mtb thing only once a week like I am planning to only do it on a Saturday for now, I would be able to rent a bike for 3 years for the price of a cheaper bike and maintenace on it.

    MTB advice

I originally were looking at getting an entry level mtb like the Silverback for my daughter. This weekend I had a look at the Merida Juliet 40 and liked it. Any advice or thoughts on that bike? Don't really know mtb's so any advice will do.
  18. Speed Devil I heard that one reason the petrol price wont drop to previous levels is that the tax component are double to than the time the Oil price were last at $50 per barrel.
  19. I had the same thing. Three different shops gave me the wrong cleats for my KEO's. So I had to buy 4 sets of cleats before I got the wright thing.
  20. Maybe I must do this to cover costs for travelling to the Argus. I have a 5 bike trailer.
  21. Maybe Felty and that organizer is the same person, therefor the same response. Maybe speak to your club. I know Our club had the trailer and transport available this year.

    Bum rap

The East London City council will probably pay him millions in damages for injuries sustained on their property.
  23. They knew all along that the Sharks will have a home Final, as pre arranged and could not have the Final and the Shova on the same weekend. They could not allow depressed hometown cyclists ride the Shova the day after the Final that the Sharks lost(that is pre arranged as well ) Match fixing is the in thing to keep making money.
