  1. Yup, very true unfortunately. The LBS I use from time to time when I'm too busy to do it myself or when it comes to wheel repairs will bend over backwards, yet the shop where I spend literally 100 times more money just see me as another sale with zero effort involved.
  2. How long did shipping take? I'm also considering bringing in some rims.
  3. It's for that reason that a business owner/customer care needs to do everything to keep their customer happy. Even if you're not wrong, first thing to do is apologise for the inconvenience caused and assure the client/customer that a thorough investigation will be sought. Just doing that will have an irate customer calmed down significantly. Take the time to communicate effectively and politely to avoid any misunderstandings, without questioning his/her credibility and in this case calling your customer a p**s. A simple phone call can do wonders, but if it needs to either invite the person over or get in your car and pay him a visit. It's amazing what this can achieve in this modern age where all communication is via impersonal texting. If you get this right, chances are you won't have people going on social media to air their grievances. Although some people are kans vatters to score anything for free, most that end up here, or elsewhere are frustrated by lack of service, poor communication and basically feeling helpless. Also, people are more inclined these days to trust advise from people they know. If our OP goes around telling his friends about his experience, chances are it will have even further reaching effect. Running a business you should always look at the potential cost of resolving the issue. Is a new damper dial really worth it? Treat your customer right, and the OP would probably be a repeat customer and you'll make that money back in a month or two. Piss him off, and there is no way to even start calculating the potential loss in business. I get the feeling that there is only a small amount of people in the bicycle industry that are capable of good service. The rest come across as a bunch of has-been/never-been cyclist/bro buddies that day dream more about cycling and are more focused on their lingo than representing their products/brands. It's time the industry grow up. Our bikes cost as much as a small car, and as much a Volvo to maintain. Surely some professionalism, and less cool kids pretending to 'business' isn't too much to ask?
  4. Stupid clevis design that extends the shock length and increases side loads.
  5. Should be slow AF and with outdated technology even before it’s released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Bicycle lying there looking like he hit his shins.
  7. Nice, but jirre, that music is hondkak.
  8. Start with safe search on???? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Same with those ugly ass Evil bikes for me, with the head tube that looks like saddlebags fat.
  10. Yoh, there's a whole lot of ugly going on in the rear half of that bike.
  11. I've encountered lots of baboons, but only once one gave chase whilst climbing up jonkers. I just popped a back flip, and decapitated the bastard with my rear wheel. No big deal.
  12. Dog eating cleat in 3, 2...
  13. I would also like to know - was quite miffed when I rocked up there Sat morning getting the news. Ended up riding Helderberg then.
  14. Had a somewhat similar incident with some #enduro bros once. They were resting at the top of the climb before the trail entry. I came up on my epic. We exchanged friendly greetings, and one said we'll see you at the bottom. I just retorted; "I'm not going to wait longer than 3 min at the bottom for you guys." Never saw them again though.
  15. The way the veneer is cut won't give you the same grain effect as using planks would.
  16. Wood is unfortunately crazy expensive. Your best option then would be to find some old pallets (untreated), If you want that reclaimed look, leave them outside exposed to the elements. Cedar wood makes for nice cladding, but will cost you quite a bit. You can have the planks deep cut into thinner pieces to stretch your material. You don't need 25mm planks for wall cladding.
  17. There are numerous cladding option available; https://www.italtile.co.za/decorative-tiles/cladding-category.html?material=wood If you go DIY, french cleat should do well. If you're planning to make up panels, hot glue and a couple of screws on a piece of hardboard should suffice. Personally, I'll leave it untreated. If you're set on treating it, then some oil product, like linseed or danish oil usually has to lowest sheen/reflection of light properties.
  18. Well if you're running semi-slicks for less rolling resistance, then yes, because it defeats the whole purpose of having side knobs on the contact patch.
  19. Which SS? I see there's a 2.5WT version now. Most comments I've seen on the 2.3 SS suggested they're not suited to wider rims which squares off the tread area bringing the side knobs into contact on straight lines.
  20. Blackwood is lighter and looks more like kiaat. As mentioned, that's most likely imbuia (typical of that era with yellow wood), or stinkhout (if if was slightly lighter).
  21. Also managed to catch some reflections as the wind was almost nonexistent this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
