  1. I ended up sending the Garmin back. The mail problem for me in the end was the protection of it. I have not broken any device yet, but as I am a fall risk, I don't want to chance it. I will look at a better model that you can at least protect. For now my Apple Watch 3 will have to do its thing till I get a replacement for it. I have a SpO2 meter that I can use for now to monitor my saturation if I start feeling bit weird.
  2. To be honest, I do not want to go 2nd hand. You always get burnt. I have had a few deals on Bikehub that were great, but should something go wrong, you are stuffed. And with this trainer we have a prime example. I have been looking at getting the following trainer: Tacx FLUX S Smart Trainer. I could have gotten one at cost but Tacx was bought by Garmin and my uncle does not deal with Garmin. this far it was the cheapest trainer I could find that was a direct mount. The plus is both our bikes have the exact gear systems. So swapping between bikes will not need a gear change or cluster swap. (yes I was lazy looking for parts between the bikes) I have to go with the direct mount as the wheel on models like the one I tried will not fit into out living room (did I say we stay in a really tiny place). So I will have to use it outside if it is a wheel on.
  3. I ended up going for the Venu from Garmin. I miss the functionality and simplicity of the Apple watch. The Venu missed quite a few things, but it is almost 1/2 the price of the Apple Watch 6. One big issue is the missing protection for it. Missing flights of stairs, and the one I miss the most is the integration with the health kit. Some things gets updated, puls steps , but like SpO2 stats does not connect to the Garmin (or I don't not know how to connect it). Oh and having to sync the watch to get some of the data from the watch all the time is kind of a pain. I will see by this weekend if the Venu will replace the Watch 6, but this far I a still on the fence with it. One thing I must say is that the battery does last longer then the series 6 and it can read my whatsapp messages without a problem.
  4. How do you balance the charging of the cells? I know that is the number one killer of notebook batteries. I bought a load balancing charger (they use it to charge cells for RC cars) that we rigged to charge a light (LED) that my wife drop tested and broke. So we replaced the batteries with old notebook batteries that are still useable and changed a few things to load balance the batteries. I once started working on building a battery pack and got the load circuit to charge 6 batteries at a time, but I know you do get bigger load balancers.
  5. We assessed the trainer. I hate cyclists selling stuff that was wacked by lighting to people claiming that the device is still working. There is so much damage to the internal parts of the power-back that can't be replaced that it's not even funny. We tried looking for replacements but Tacx used a lot of modules that we can't get replacements for. The software and some of the videos that was suppose to come with the device is missing. So the trainer is a total bust. Just feel bad for my cousin that was taken for a ride by someone who must have known that the device was broken and beyond repair.
  6. Thanks everyone. At least I do not have to spend the night in hospital. That said if I feel any worst, I need to go to emergencies and be booked in. This is rather a hard blow for me to be honest.
  7. My treatment has been stopped. My potassium fell below the threshold. The oncologist wanted to admit me to hospital to monitor me. But we settled on three drips to replenish me. So I am sitting watching the liquid running into a tube to my port. He did not know how I was able to walk or even remain standing. Knew this morning when I could not wake up that something was very very wrong. Last night was also the first time in a very long time that I needed to take pain medication.
  8. We collected the trainer yesterday. It is a wheel-on trainer. It was originally purchased in 2011. It is a Tacx Fortius. The issue it has is the power-pack. It keeps on blowing the input fuse. We will check the internals tomorrow to see if there is a short or cap that was blown on the inside. Reinet will be able to use the trainer as it supports QR and not thru-axel. But will check if I can get an adapter, if we can fix the power-pack. Just sad that people will sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace that is broken. That guy is just like Cash Converters that sells broken merchandise to clients (Looking at you Menlyn branch of Cash Converters)
  9. Received my latest blood result. Things are not looking to good. My cancer count (CA 19-9) went from 407 to 667 in a month. I am truly devastated with the result. I have an oncologist appointment on Tuesday morning to hear what the next step will be, but I guess an MRi to gauge the progression and new metastasis, and to determine in I will continue the next rounds of Stivarga or not
  10. Got Speed on Blu-ray this morning. Paid a crazy R8-00.
  11. Just an update. iStore phone me today. I can bring back the rest of the accessories and they will refund me. Sounds like they could not fix it, as they wanted to replace it.
  12. Now this is going to be in my head the whole day....
  13. WOW and a lot cheaper than the Apple Watch. Thanks @Rocket-Boy
  14. I can hear the Doctor next week for my checkup... I am not suppose to lose weight. But how do you eat with a mouth that is swollen up and full of little sores on the inside? Not to mention my tongue. Eating toast or anything for that matter feels like taking a chees grater to my mouth and tongue. Well at least I weigh a little less this month.
  15. We have a braai at work today... Went to the market this morning and got some Fry Sausages for me to put on a bun. Must say it is tough with the wife to eat healthy. She still thinks red meat is good for us. And to be honest... I am starting to doubt it. But to get her to eat less red meat is a mission. Only problem for me is soy at this stage. Was warned to stay away from soy as it does not react well to the meds I am on (I have a rest week from the meds this week)
  16. Replacement part was received yesterday. Another 2-3 working days to fit... If I gave this level of service to my clients, I would be without a job. But Core does whatever Core wants. The Russian is above the rule of law.
  17. It might be, but I give a rats ass. For the money that you pay for the device, I expect top notch performance and reliability, That is why I still use a Mid 2013 Macbook Air. If they did screw up, I do not care. It is not my problem.
  18. I woke up one morning and the unit asked my passcode. That was sort of weird for me. Tried to input the code, but it did not take the key presses. I took it off, put it on the charger and went to shower. Got back and it displayed the Apple Logo. Dresses myself and put on the watch and it was dead. Tried to reset it, but it was 100% not working. Took it to Apple and they said that a module inside was stuffed and needed to be replaced. Time for delivery of the part is 5 - 7 working days. That was 7 working days ago, and still waiting. The watch 6 was great, but I lost all trust in it. If a module breaks within 3 months, it spells disaster for me in the long run. I only got the 6 due to the O2 monitoring. Nothing else.
  19. Ooh... I see this is the website I have been looking for.... Even a few trainer options to compare Thanks Robert
  20. So I am still waiting for Apple to fix my Apple Watch series 6. But I lost all my trust in a device that did not last 3 months before it broke. I tried doing a bit of reading on the Garmins, and Suunto range of watches, but they do not have very friendly websites. What I am looking for is something that can work with my iPhone, has O2 stats and HR monitoring. I am using my Apple Watch series 3, but it takes forever to charge and lasts about 36 hours per charge. What will the best watch be for about the same price as an Apple Watch series 6?
  21. Thanks for this. Now I know a lot more than I did. I take it the R300 is per user? Still doable as cowhouse works out at R1000 per year, but the hours they are open makes it very difficult to ride there, as well as the safety aspect should I hit a health problem while out riding. As well as driving there and cutting another tyre. Even though it is only 10 km away, cycling there for Reinet is not an option, so we have to drive there. And the once a week thing does not benefit us at all. We can’t progress being a once a week family. Agree that a fan is critical. My body has a little bit of difficulty cooling itself (one reason why I pass out easily). Comes with being anemic and the chemo I am on at the moment. I purchased a high velocity pedestal fan when the workplace was a bit stubborn to fix the air-con in my office. So I am sorted with that. We actually have two fans that move a huge volume of air. If I do midnight training sessions it should not bother Reinet as we have a fan on in the room every night. The white noise helps with sleeping.
  22. Hi MuttleyMy cousin said that his Wife purchased a trainer on FB Marketplace but it keeps on blowing fuses and tripping the DB. I should get it this weekend, will then check if it is worth sending it in to be fixed, or if the sparky at the office can fix it or even if I can fix it myself. If it is not worth it, I will hit the credit card for a Tacx trainer (see they are a little cheaper than Kickr). Just sad that they were purchased by Garmin or I could have gotten it at cost price.
  23. My cousin might have a trainer for me that they purchased on Marketplace. It keeps on blowing a fuse, but I think I might be able to fix it. But will keep the Hub updated on the progress.
  24. I might have some R3000 of some IT equipment that I sold towards a trainer.
  25. I think the rear wheel has a QR but will have to make sure.Crap It been so long since I touched my bike, I can’t even remember the small details on it. I know the front wheel is a thru-axle, and as far as I can remember the rear is a QR. I am not sure of the width of the rear wheel through (only found out the last week that you get narrow and sides here as well.
