  1. We collected the trainer yesterday. It is a wheel-on trainer. It was originally purchased in 2011. It is a Tacx Fortius. The issue it has is the power-pack. It keeps on blowing the input fuse. We will check the internals tomorrow to see if there is a short or cap that was blown on the inside. Reinet will be able to use the trainer as it supports QR and not thru-axel. But will check if I can get an adapter, if we can fix the power-pack. Just sad that people will sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace that is broken. That guy is just like Cash Converters that sells broken merchandise to clients (Looking at you Menlyn branch of Cash Converters)
  2. Received my latest blood result. Things are not looking to good. My cancer count (CA 19-9) went from 407 to 667 in a month. I am truly devastated with the result. I have an oncologist appointment on Tuesday morning to hear what the next step will be, but I guess an MRi to gauge the progression and new metastasis, and to determine in I will continue the next rounds of Stivarga or not
  3. Got Speed on Blu-ray this morning. Paid a crazy R8-00.
  4. Now this is going to be in my head the whole day....
  5. I can hear the Doctor next week for my checkup... I am not suppose to lose weight. But how do you eat with a mouth that is swollen up and full of little sores on the inside? Not to mention my tongue. Eating toast or anything for that matter feels like taking a chees grater to my mouth and tongue. Well at least I weigh a little less this month.
  6. We have a braai at work today... Went to the market this morning and got some Fry Sausages for me to put on a bun. Must say it is tough with the wife to eat healthy. She still thinks red meat is good for us. And to be honest... I am starting to doubt it. But to get her to eat less red meat is a mission. Only problem for me is soy at this stage. Was warned to stay away from soy as it does not react well to the meds I am on (I have a rest week from the meds this week)
  7. Thanks for this. Now I know a lot more than I did. I take it the R300 is per user? Still doable as cowhouse works out at R1000 per year, but the hours they are open makes it very difficult to ride there, as well as the safety aspect should I hit a health problem while out riding. As well as driving there and cutting another tyre. Even though it is only 10 km away, cycling there for Reinet is not an option, so we have to drive there. And the once a week thing does not benefit us at all. We can’t progress being a once a week family. Agree that a fan is critical. My body has a little bit of difficulty cooling itself (one reason why I pass out easily). Comes with being anemic and the chemo I am on at the moment. I purchased a high velocity pedestal fan when the workplace was a bit stubborn to fix the air-con in my office. So I am sorted with that. We actually have two fans that move a huge volume of air. If I do midnight training sessions it should not bother Reinet as we have a fan on in the room every night. The white noise helps with sleeping.
  8. Hi MuttleyMy cousin said that his Wife purchased a trainer on FB Marketplace but it keeps on blowing fuses and tripping the DB. I should get it this weekend, will then check if it is worth sending it in to be fixed, or if the sparky at the office can fix it or even if I can fix it myself. If it is not worth it, I will hit the credit card for a Tacx trainer (see they are a little cheaper than Kickr). Just sad that they were purchased by Garmin or I could have gotten it at cost price.
  9. My cousin might have a trainer for me that they purchased on Marketplace. It keeps on blowing a fuse, but I think I might be able to fix it. But will keep the Hub updated on the progress.
  10. I might have some R3000 of some IT equipment that I sold towards a trainer.
  11. I think the rear wheel has a QR but will have to make sure.Crap It been so long since I touched my bike, I can’t even remember the small details on it. I know the front wheel is a thru-axle, and as far as I can remember the rear is a QR. I am not sure of the width of the rear wheel through (only found out the last week that you get narrow and sides here as well.
  12. Thanks, RobertI have a 29” and Reinet runs a 26”. Will do a lot more reading on the trainers. The trainers that runs wheel off. Are they quieter than the wheel on models?
  13. We have a stable internet connection at home as Reinet works from home some days. The subscription I am not sure. Will investigate it a bit further.
  14. I have no idea to be honest sir. I will have to use it with my Mountain bike. I only know of the Kickr range because one of my friends used his to train. But I have no idea what to look for to be honest. I have a spinning bike, but I can't move the thing around. The last time I tried I tore open my scar. So I need something that is light that I or Reinet can move. The main goal is to get on a bike in our house (we have a very small rental so space is a huge issue). I can feel my fitness slipping and with the new meds I can't go cycling outdoors. At home if I fall or pass out, Wilgers Hospital is 3 minutes away. On the bike... That time can increase to an hour.
  15. The device could work, but the price at the end is very VERY steep.
  16. This is going to be a big ask.... Does anyone have a contact that will sponsor me with a Kickr smart trainer? I have made peace that I would not be able to cycle for a long time due to passing out at random times. So I could be on a cycle path with death leading me away, and no one would know.
  17. hope it is a new device and not a refurbished unit or being fixed. The watch still falls under the CPA of 6 months. If the charge me all hell will break loose. Just sucks as I am at a very bad time of my treatment. I need some of the functions of the 6. Including fall detection as I passed out a few times due to the medication I am on. Just glad every time happened at home. But if I am site, I need my wife to be notified that I fell and that she would be able to contact my office to send help
  18. So last week at 04h00 Monday, my watch Series 6 stopped taking my pulse. Then started asking me for my unlock code, then switched off. Tried resetting the watch, but it was dead. It did not even respond to the charger. So took it to Apple. Now we know the BS of Apple that if a screen is broken and you need it replaced, they tell you to buy a new unit? Well seems that if a warranty unit dies, they will replace the parts. I received an e-mail that a module in the watch died, and they do not have stock in SA, so i must wait 5-7 business days for the module to arrive from the EU. If something is broken in the unit why will Apple fix it and not replace it? That after I lost all trust in the product, to get a repaired unit back? Not feeling happy with Apple at this stage
  19. Started watching Resident Alien (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8690918/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1). It is something funny to watch and worth the 45 minutes per week. Another series we really enjoyed because it is not the usual crap coming out of the US, is Upload (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7826376/).
  20. Morning all Sorry, been a little busy the last month. Chemo is going well. My hands and feet are still taking a hammering, and blood pressure is sky high even with medication. But this far it is not to bad. I can't cycle at the moment (due to my feet). I am not on crutches anymore so that is good as well, as I can move a lot faster without the help of the alu brothers on my side. And it sure makes getting out my car much easier (people have no respect for disabled parking users as they try to park as close to you as they can) All in all things are looking good. Will keep this fight going as long as I can.
  21. The Doctor said it might be a bad idea to reduce my weight, as it might not be weight gained, but other fluids. I have a very bad infection in my lower abdomen, so had constant fluid discharge from a wound in my navel for more than a month. But can’t get it fixed now because I am on treatment and can’t stop the treatment or else I have to start from scratch... again. So I might have to step back a bit and listen to the doctor. The medicine helps to suppress my hunger by replacing it with nausea in anycase

  23. Fudge this new chemo is kicking my arse around the block! Blood pressure last night: 137/112 down from 149/121 Constant headache and nausea. My feet and hands are taking a beating as well. They are hyper sensitive at the moment making walking a bit difficult. Went to see the GP this morning at 07h00. On blood pressure medicine, rapid headache pills and a beta blocker because my heart started running away. At least I have my new contact lenses so there is a huge plus point. I can see much better now...
  24. Oh I placed an order at Herbivore to test their produce to see if it can work to go more plant based than meat based seeing that the new meds I am on pushed my blood-pressure into the sky. 143/125 is not much fun
  25. We wanted to see if the Food haters market in Lynnwood lane had Herbivore stock today. The person we asked was a total waste of the title human. The person did not know what vegan was and was super rude to my wife. After attempting to explain what vegan was we were rudely told to go ask at the meat counter for meatless patties. What wound me up was the way the person spoke to my wife. I had to hold me in not to pick up a steak and ask the steak for help, because the piece of steak knew more of what was going on in the shop than the people working in the shop
