  1. Look things are always going to go amiss. If youre a business owner something somehow will happen that will be out of your hands and the same can be expected in any type of organisation. However, when it happens, you expect that mistake to be rectified and it not to happen again(CSA)... This is whats known as lessons learnt. If it keeps happening then someone is not doing their job and strategic methods need to adjusted. Why the hell would someone want to make a stage go through Sandton central? I believe the biggest problem here is not publicising the tour. I am in my car +- 4hours a day. During the months of me being aware of the cycle tour I have heard 2 adverts on the radio. No bill boards, no newspaper ads, no lamp post ads. As with PE, the residents are unaware and can understand them getting peeved about road blockages. Of course PTA would work better, it does not have the congestion like Sandton, its more open with multiple detours. What comes to mind here is just not enough time for planning. The logistics and planning behind this tour is massive. Can you imagine how many turnoffs there are on a average day in the saddle? You needs months and months of preparation. I personally think this tour was thrown together ASAP because of there being no more GIRO and it was just too much too soon. That being said, the Garden route should go without a hitch. Lots of open areas and if you take the Rapport into account, Garden route used to always be a winner. As for taking the cycling to the people CSA! Lets rather not(unless its a pro criterium). As for Cell C, lets take the people to the cycling by giving us bus rides to the spectator points. it works in Europe why not here?
  2. Is it my imagination or does it seem like supercycling programme is all over the place tonight? Then, is Greg Till not meant to be a image of fitness if he represents CSA? Shame poor guy was shitting himself. Crack a joke in your first sentence is a nervious person.
  3. Me want to see pics
  4. If you have the money available, why not. Otherwise cant you buy a cheapy and use it from your hotel to work just to keep fit?
  5. So then piss off and leave us positive folks here to enjoy our beautiful country
  6. Shame that poor mother. RIP little man. Strength to the family.
  7. I agree with you. Groenies is really nice and I particularly like the bottom section as I find it alot cooler with all the trees and shrubs. I tried voortrekker monument the other day and must say it was also really nice. Cost only R20 to get in and I believe the charge for a year is something like R250(UNDER CORRECTION).Its alright, but not Groenies. Its got 3 routes, and not as long as groenies but still very nice with some wildebees, zebra etc. It is a bit rocky and some soil errosion in some places but overall, I would give it a 7/10.
  8. Same Sh!*t different day. I say knock their handlebars with your mirrors. Ooh ooh backlash coming...

    WE BIKE

Looks like rookie is "punting". Hope Willie gets it right second time around. Good on him to keep trying
  10. http://www.news24.com/World/News/Dutch-police-bait-bicycle-thieves-20110125 Now if only we could get our local SAPS to bait a bike or two here in SA then we could possibly get to the source(ring leaders) of all the bike-jackings . Unfortunately not as easy as that cs our jackers come armed with more than a nife.
  11. mmm you naughty nuaghty woman. Think this topic might break the "most viewed"
  12. So how dirty has your bike got?
  13. I will stick in there. Who knows, maybe after 2 years I will give you all a go Went for a 15km ride yesturday at groenies and felt great. 14.1km/h average with a 2min stop to eat my energy bar.
  14. I will hang in there, things should hopefully get better.
  15. Not nice at all. I know what it feels like to be in that situation. When my son was in ICU, a 8 year old girl died two beds away and they were giving her CPR but she did not make it. Really really **** seeing that. RIP
  16. Tx for the replies.Yip need to loose that weight, but also cant wait to get fit. Nothing worse than getting dropped by a 60 year old.
  17. Hi all. Here is a bit of a concern for me. Im 35 and been cycling MTB for about 3 months now. I dont get to cycle too much, about 3-4 days a week and do about 12-15km per session. The problem I am having is that my body is just not adapting. After 5km of Groenies or voortrekker I feel like absolute hell. I have to get off the bike to walk up the hills. I just cant understand it. I do the 20km races but want to get to the 50km races but my body just cant recover quick enough. I am over weight(1.85m, 104kg)non smoker but i should think by now I am able to atleast sit in the seat for 10km. Anybody got feedback?
  18. "Never ever in my life do I want to feel that again, you feel helpless, angry and just plain wasted" Happens to me every day
  19. Sorry to hear bt that but its not these days. A car hit me when I was 15 years old and that was around 20 years ago and this during rush hour traffic at a traffic light and not one person got out of their car to come see if this kid was ok. Its a sad society we live in but Im sure there are still good people out there.
  20. I take it you are not a business owner. Competition is the best thing possible to bring down pricing and increase service standard. Dont shoot people down before they have even started. Atleast they are giving it a go while you sit in your cocoon shooting your mouth off.
  21. I have a luxury transfer company. I spend that sort of money weekly, so I know what you going through. My cars warranties expire after 1 year. Yip, 100 000km a year per car. We covered 960 000km this year in my fleet. It doesnt matter how nice you drive your car or how many times you take your car for service(Ours every 1 half months). They will always break or something will always need to be replaced. If its luxury, you need the moola in the bank and know whats coming your way on every service.

    94.7 Info

Anybody know when and where I can get the results and pics for the MTB race yesturday??
  23. Well, I was one of those hackers and no fault of mine. Let me explain...So I get to the Sandton Convention Centre and look for my name on the list and HUH? I am not on it. Go to enquiries and they say the reason I am not on it is because I have not paid yet. What? I paid months ago. Now I have to phone my Fiancé to look for the page I printed out from my bank showing the payment and get her to scan it and send to my BB. OK, so I get and show the lady. She is now happy and gets my number, just the number, no goody bag, just the number (my kids love the goody bag). So I see the have just decided to put me in the 50km race(I have only ever done three 25km races)and I am in group A1.I tell the lady this is not right how can you put me in group A1 and the 50km race, please change. By this time I am wondering if I should do this race at all as it has started off a bit shaky. She tells me the system told her what number to give me...Eish!!!!And she cannot change it. So there I was in group A1 today with Burry and Robbie feeling way out of place. So to all the guys in this group, sorry if I got in your way but I stayed as far left as possible. If you saw a chubby guy in blue and grey riding a Bianchi that would be me. As far as the race went, they could have cleaned up a bit better. Lots of barbwire, broken glass. Saw many guys with punctures. First impressions, not very good. I know of many other routes I have done in my limited time in the saddle that are far better. However, Century being one of the sponsors I doubt the routes for the years to come would change much. Other than that, it will do but not up there with the top 10 rides I have on my to ride list.
