  1. Ride stage 1 well within yourself. Don't start stage 2 too fast...There's some solid climbing to do before you drop down into Sabir (and if you haven't recce'd the route the climb is quite deceptive). Don't charge out of Sabie on stage 3. With luck you'll pass lots of people on the Long Tom! And hold something back for the ride back to the finish as the rollers can bite on tired legs! So in summary...ride it and don't race it first-time out!
  2. So I'd like to understand one aspect of this thread, namely the apparent multiple suggestions that the OP should just get out there and get on with his challenge without publicising it before hand? Is this general consensus? If so, why?
  3. Had to bail at halfway. Hyper-ventilating and iliac artery issues that he attributed to excessive caffeine consumption. Has committed to giving it another go.
  4. Good luck on Sunday's ride. Wishing you all the best and a safe ride.
  5. https://bikerumor.com/2018/04/11/shockstop-seatpost-adds-advanced-suspension-for-your-saddle/
  6. Shock stop stem also works wonders. And perhaps the seat post when they launch it?
  7. Not maybe the best tag, as most SUVs never leave the tar!
  8. I wonder how they define a glycaemic carbohydrate? Maybe it's in the name? Simple carbs are generally fermented out in most, but not all beers. But more complex carbs, but still carbs, such as dextrins and more generally polysaccharides typically remain in beer. Without them, beer tends to have a thin mouthfeel (think water-like).
  9. If you wanted to go to town, then you'd have to test hypotheses 1 and 2, rather than just assuming them. But who has time for that?!
  10. What was the R^2 of your correlation? By the looks of the 'fit', eyeballing only, it doesn't well represent the data? If so, then using the correlation to aid interpretation will introduce an error, as I think you might be suggesting?
  11. Interestingly Beamon's Olympic record is the only one still standing as an Olympic record. And it was superseded as a world record by a jump at sea level in 1991, but it's still #2 on the longest jumps ever. There are some great images of that jump on the web...
  12. Would you have some info, or a link, for the urban trail? I'm in Hermanus over the xmas season 'armed' with a gravel bike and may be keen....but I'm a roadie who doesn't mountain bike, but something non-technical, did I mention I'm a roadie , might be nice to try?
  13. Well, how about donating an old helmet to the oke?
  14. Hope you secured that Chopper otherwise, if it comes down on the head of your better half, you might be for the chop...
  15. So what do you use it for? Road or gravel noise reduction? Seems quite expensive. How much better is it than double-wrapping bar tape?
  16. On the topic of vibration....has anyone tried one of these? https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/326212-redshift-shockstop-6-deg-90mm-suspension-stem/?click_src=topad
  17. Never a good end to a ride.... Hope she recovers quickly and is back on two wheels soon. Regards to you both.
  18. Not exactly short of craft breweries on that road....good luck with the established competition!
  19. Trying to sell that old bike of yours in the UK, huh?
  20. This thread, although not as old, may have helped too? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/145453-building-a-cyclo-cross-bike/page-1
  21. Chapeau Patch! Despite what others say about you ( ), I applaud your charity and your wish to encourage paying-it-forward.
  22. Or take the idea further and use the whole space.........
  23. Ordered at the end of last week, and it arrived this morning. Couldn't have asked for a better fit and the quality looks spot on. Happiness!
  24. You might want to double-check that horizontal 130mm dimension... Possibly more like 230mm?
