  1. Am I the only one hoping for a "Make CWC Great Again" memorabilia hat?
  2. I just registered the gf with PPA this morning and about an hour later was eligible to enter her into the 2019 CTCT.
  3. If I've signed the missus up to the PPA this morning, will I be able to get her a pre-entry to the 2019 CTCT? I tried a moment ago and couldn't go through as I'm sure it takes a day or 2 to process at PPA.
  4. I have read somewhere, in the past, that the 67km has about a 60% DNF which should give you a fair estimate...
  5. Does free camping also apply to those only keen on doing the Saturday event?
  6. Inside job indeed. At the CTCT MTB event earlier this year also in Stellies, my passenger door of my car got broken into by a screw driver. Dressing up like a fellow cyclist does not take the security guards' eyes off these guys, it takes your vigilant eyes off these guys.
  7. Sunday morning: Woke up with a terribly sore throat and some congestion. I coffed it up to the braai we had the night before and maybe some smoke inhalation. I took a few menthol strepsils with on my ride and boy do they make a difference. Thinking of taking them permanently on my rides in future. Sunday eve/Monday morning: Body broke down so badly I could hardly breath. post nasal drip had me coughing up all kinds of green stuff. I've been on some sinus meds since and a cough mixture for the flem. Any of you out there have some natural remedies for this sort of stuff you use? Trying to prevent the need to run to the drug store every so often.
  8. Probably used Testo-boost because he realised he looks a bit like Derrick Hougaard
  9. So I didn't realise that my phase 1 team plus subs would have to be the same as my phase 2 team. Guess I'll have to bank on some sprinters to conquer the mountains for me
  10. So I've read some contradictory pieces on the efficacy of Vit. C as treatment for flu, etc. What is other peoples' opinion on this matter? https://atpscience.com/the-great-vitamin-c-hoax/ https://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/pauling.html
  11. I saw it this morning. I immediately thought if this qualifies as an E-Bike (Or Petrol bike for that matter).
  12. Seriously cool 45min movie to watch:
  13. Lots to consider when reading both sides of the argument on this thread. My personal feel to this is each to his own. On an E-bike you just don't have any bragging rights on completing events, etc. I would perhaps go as far as saying that you should not get a finishers medal. Don't go chasing down strava segments. I think E-bikers in races should be strapped up with a Go-Pro so they can film footage of the riders in the event (thus acting more like a film crew capacity similar to that other dude in the Cape Epic on an E-bike filming the riders)
  14. I just reply with, "do you want the front half or the back half of the bike"
  15. Couldn't agree more. I also think the recent issue with scammers on the hub have created some trust issues and soured some transactions
  16. I was trying to crack it into the top 20 of the 56km today, didn't quite get there, but close enough to put a smile on my face. I didn't bump into a lot of the 75km guys on the merge, but did get stuck with a lot of 30km riders coming through some of that last single track towards the finish. They were all very friendly and let faster riders go past them without much complaint. I had a lot of tyre issues today and had to bomb 2x and only made it to the finish with just enough air left in my wheel to keep me going. Maybe a technical station at one of the water points would be a good addition to the event, or in my case I was just desperate for a bike pump at the very least to be present at the water points.
  17. I blame the groom. He should know better than to have his wedding on RWC semi final day.
  18. Why do people always get married on important dates? I've had 2 weddings on the currie cup final when rugby was still something worth watching. 2 weddings on Argus weekend and now a wedding clashing with this too Or is it just me?
  19. And just to make sure he's not using V-brakes coming down that hill
  20. Depends on how you define "sick at this moment" Because since the start of this thread on 10 June 2014 I have definitely been sick right at "this" moment
  21. I've done the CTCT for a third time yesterday and on all those races (even the 47km one in 2015) there was an accident on hospital bend and everyone has to slow down very quickly there. I take that section very easy as a result of this.
  22. That was a fantastic day out with regards to the weather. I was aiming for a sub 3h30, but for some reason I felt that around Misty Cliffs and through Camps Bay I was going far too slow than usual. Finished in 3h42. The wind must have picked up more and for me it actually felt like I was riding into the wind towards the end. I was shocked when I heard the sad news about the 3 people passing away. Condolences to their family and may they RIP
  23. Thanks for the heads up
  24. I've heard that some of the Financial Advisers selling Momentum products are also leaving now for Old Mutual Wealth or Liberty, etc. because the state of affairs at Momentum is a shambles. Got me worried, because I've got all my products with Momentum...
  25. I agree. I've enjoyed multiply for the better part of 5 years now and this year it's just gone to the toilet. My Safe Dayz were on again - off again throughout Feb, but since the beginning of March I cannot seem to get a single Safe Day as it's just stopped working. I am very frustrated to say the least.
