  1. buts it's right, though. At the end of the day, willing seller, willing buyer always prevails, and if the seller gives in a little bit on his asking price and the buyer feels like he gets a small geluk, even if he is paying a bit more than he wanted, then the market place is working well. Hard nosed non negotiable sellers holding out for months on end and @sshole buyers bidding 50% and more below the asking price result in a non-functioning market which fails in the end.
  2. wow, that is such a dick move. Even if they then took out the full price I would love to be able to tell them to get stuffed
  3. I would be nervous to buy a used MTB, and I don't think I am alone. The increase in popularity of the discipline I think may have contributed to the issue of stuff not selling on the Hub because there is a bigger proportion of MTB vs road bikes and paraphernalia.
  4. very interesting thread. I wonder if there are any cycling "fashion" trends affecting sales either. Are different types or styles of riding affecting sales?
  5. brave. your tchommy is going to need some attention. ride with myprodol
  6. I enjoyed LA's blog during the TDF - it was very self deprecating and wonderfully insightful. Why all the hate still?
  7. If you really want to enjoy cycling, then smoking has to go. But that's a good thing, because cycling will keep you off the smokes. I quit 2 or 3 times and started up again, once after nearly 2 years - proper stupid. I then started MTB, and could not get up the smallest hill without wheezing, coughing and snorting like an asthmatic warthog. But the riding bug had bitten, and I hated not being able to keep up with people who were hopelessly unfit and out of shape. I also badly wanted to have a go at a stage race, and knew that I could not carry on smoking, and so I stopped. That was 4 years ago, and I think I am now safe. Use your cycling as your motivation. Set riding goals like doing really tough races or long distances or hectic climbs. The satisfaction you get from achieving these constantly reinforces the decision to stop smoking, and reduces the risk of relapse, or so it happened in my case. Good luck smokers, and its never too late to chuck the twakkies. To add to your motivation, remember that if you quit before you get a smoking related illness, you almost certainly will not get one. Don't leave this too late, or you will really learn the true meaning of regret.
  8. I get it, you vape!
  9. i just tried to enter the 70 - is it fully booked?
  10. Its starting to get WARM (as in VUH-RUM). He writes nicely. Going to be some serious racing over the next 2 days. Go Pyga Eurosteel!
  11. You must have an impressive recovery time - the only thing flat at SBR is my will to live!
  12. The unfortunate thing about the Wahoo products is that if you are with Discovery, and like to accumulate points, then you cannot use the Element to get Vitality points. I bought an Element a few months ago, and the okes who distribute were a little economical with the truth on this point, which really pi$$ed me off. As a result, I never use the blerry thing. They said you could do manual uploads to Garmin Connect, but Discovery will not credit any workouts manually uploaded or edited. Only workouts loaded through proprietary websites from the respective manufacturer's devices will be credited, which includes Garmin and Suunto. Wahoo relies on third party sites, like TrainingPeaks - they do not have their own hosting for data collection. Sucks, because the devices are lekker
  13. Karbonkelberg? That is a thing - seriously? Gotta love SA! How do you even BEGIN to translate Karbonkel??!! (well, without a risk of warning points!)
  14. This first post sounds rather similar to a long stream of repetitive posts by someone with around 2220 posts, or am I being paranoid? #Rule1.4 #justsaying
  15. hmmm, I wonder? Surely if they started the race in a different place it would have changed the weather?
  16. Seriously Rob22, you are RUINING this thread with insightful commentary, fact-based responses and downright good common sense! HOW DARE YOU!!
  17. Have you not noticed that your drum is getting worn out, and nobody seems to care about the beat? The only thing I can offer is this: Just don't enter! Nobody is forcing you! In fact, PLEASE don't enter. And maybe have a cookie - low blood sugar often leads to endless and repetitive rants on the hub.
  18. You have dominated this thread with a constant stream of repetitive bashing of the organizers, and sure, you are entitled to your opinion. My question is: How is it that you seem to know so much about the state of mind of the organizers? Are you part of the organizing committee? Did they take votes or decisions in which you witnessed first hand this outrageously dismissive arrogance that you believe to be so obvious? And seeing that is so clear that the organizers are inept, incompetent and useless (read: arrogant), then it will be a slam dunk to wrench the event away to be staged PROPERLY by someone who obviously knows how to do it better? I look forward to the 2018 Carbon29er Cape Cycle Tour. It will be GRAND!
  19. Absolutely! I am sure this was going through their heads the whole time! After 40 years of putting this race on they must be sick of it, and I am sure that any little excuse would have sufficed to cancel the event. Maybe something for Carte Blanche, I am sure
  20. There is a lot of bashing of the organizers, use of words like "arrogant" and general whingeing of a galactic proportion. This from some local rocket scientists who obviously know where and how to start the biggest cycle event in the world. To these people I say: PLEASE exercise your free market right to not enter this race. If the event and its organizers are so hell-bent on wrecking YOUR special day, then please PUNISH them by withholding your magic entry price, which I am sure will make them change everything to comply with your demands. To the other entrants who graciously accepted that a perfect storm of really cr@ppy circumstances ended the race, and chose to be adult about it - big up guys. And then those selfless cyclists who kicked in to help distribute food and drinks to fire victims - NICE ONE. You help sway the tide to show cyclists CAN be decent and caring people, not these self-entitled crybaby spoilt brats that tend to dominate social media when they are so inconvenienced by gale force winds, wild fires and dangerous protests. Some perspective please, people
  21. I didn't know what stanchions were, so I googled it and this came up - who knew? https://factoryjackson.com/2015/03/25/how-to-repair-fork-stanchion-scratches/
