  1. Not sure why you mention all those other things - they are false equivalents and have nothing to do with the subject of cycling on the promenade. Not really sure what your point was. As a cyclist, I feel there is no need to ride on the promenade as it is just too narrow with too many highly variable and unpredictable obstacles - kids, dogs, grannies on zimmers, families walking 5 abreast etc etc. Riders on the promenade also often have little regard for other users in terms of line and speed and I have personally witnessed numerous near misses and unpleasant encounters. I support the ban and moving riders to the other lane - makes complete sense once we get over our sense of entitlement.
  2. I'm curious to find out if anyone else has experienced this: I have had an enduring medium level pain on my left side (only left side), artor around the hip for some time now. If you put your hand on your hips like a Karen at the bank, and then move your fingers slightly into the groin, just in front of the hip. Possibly ITB related? It is constant, and some days worse than others. I am really bad at stretching discipline, but stretches that open the pelvis as well as lower back and ITB stretches make it a bit better, but it never really goes away. edit: The pain actually wraps around the left side lower back, just above and to the left of upper butt. Any suggestions?
  3. bloody revolutionary! Those are the tried and tested roads to success - ask any ANC cadre!
  4. Who is this guy - what is actually known about him?
  5. Motard or Etard - which one to pick? LOL
  6. no idea what you just said. Irrespective of how many or what types of bikes you have, in the event that you CHOOSE to ride an e-bike on chappies, should a toll be charged, as opposed to real cyclists, who don't have to pay a toll. Verstaan?
  7. There has been an explosion of e-bikes riding up chapman's peak - both sides. Given that real cyclists are exempted from paying the toll fee and going round the booms while motorbikes have to pay the toll, shouldn't e-bike also have to pay the toll? The smallest moped which likely has less kw than a fancy e-bike have to pay, so why not the e-bikes?

  18. Agreed. Its a slippery slope to full blown psychopathy. He probably goes to coffee shops without a phone or laptop.
  19. i think this will wreck your bike if you take long trips - think of all the stones and road debris that gets kicked up from other cars. Also, I'm not sure that tow-bar mounted bike racks are designed to take the sort of force that head-on wind resistance will impose - this is not a good idea for anything other than a campervan where the whole vehicle is a wind block
  20. slow at first, and then...
  21. so I couldn't resist (damn you for that, BTW) and also had a wee stalk. Seems ol' Throttles seems to like himself a tasty discount, and won't be denied!! I guess when you get so fixated on extracting every last drop of benefit you get truly hysterical and outraged by a perceived lost saving, no matter how relatively insignificant? Hopefully this has been a teaching moment, and a good outcome for the Castelli guys. Win-win?
