  1. both - the okes were golden
  2. thats a lot of free-wheeling
  3. this is not restricted to SA - worldwide inventory levels are a $h1tshow. I am building a bike at the moment and have battled to track down a specific fork which I finally found at jensonusa.com. I called them to make sure they had the fork and the guy told me for sure, but shipping would be 2-3 weeks. I placed the order and paid, and today i got a "sorry, out of stock, we hope to have it by end of Jan 21". Now to try to get my $$ back is going to be fun
  4. too true - and then having to explain why the only pack of bicycle playing cards had 37 cards when the family wanted to play rummy! good times.
  5. lot of this going round lately - "my opinion is the universal standard, and if you disagree you are a troll" combined with "the shop didn't offer to wipe my 8ss, so they have the worst service ever in the world". I actually think this may well be a symptom of how C19 has made people more selfish, self entitled and "its all about me" which in some sense is understandable when confronted with a global plague that has threatened to kill us all. I also think this has caused people to lose perspective of the relative importance of things, with small insignificant issues being made into complete mountains. Buy hey, that's just my opinion, and if you disagree I promise to suppress the anxiety and pain without lashing out
  6. last I checked this thread is about bicycle hubs, not weird psychological conditions triggered by motor bikes and cars - no need to get personal
  7. Full disclosure - I am a pyga owner, and have dealt with Pat and the guys many times over the years. I have no other connection to the team of guys or the company, other than being a big fan of their homegrown success and awesome products while others in SA moan and whine on tuesday of this very week i discovered a crack on my 4yr old Pyga Stage chainstay and send a pic to hilton at pyga to see if it was serious. within less than 48 hours i have in my hands a replacement chainstay (couriered from PMB) at a deep discount and the bike will be rideable tomorrow, less than 3 days later. this is one of my many unbelievable service experiences i have had with the pyga guys Now, it seems your unhappiness stems from not being able to visit the factory, and according to you, being denied an opportunity to ride a bike. I have to say that your story sounds incredible, given that the guys go out of their way to respond to customers. the long list of positive comments above back this up. I think a right of response by pyga is warranted, and maybe from the very person you claim to have spoken with. For my 2-cents worth, I find this difficult to believe. But lets just for argument sake accept your story for the moment - ok, the guys said there is no bike for you to test ride. does this justify a topic heading " "PYGA ARROGANCE/BAD SERVICE"? This drips with cancel culture viciousness designed to cause maximum reputational damage out of the most innocuous event, and is disgusting. Arrogance? Look it up, but then maybe the irony is lost here. You also claim they told you the mobu is "nowhere close to being released". On this I WILL call you out and challenge this as being a complete lie. Maybe you felt the need to embellish on the fact that the production has been delayed into october, but I have kept close tabs on the mobu, as I have paid for a mobu frame and have been kept up to date on the progress. So what motivated this comment - to hurt a SA homegrown success story some more? Not really sure what motivated you to attack a great SA brand for no reason - maybe it feels good breaking others down, but I know they will continue to move from success to success. Can any of us say the same?
  8. ja, I had some cheesevwith that wine!
  9. we live in a world of perpetual outrage and snowflake sensitivity. Everything seems to make the fee-fees ouchy. go figure
  10. not if its chris king angry bees!!
  11. that wasn't weird! Did BH create a new hook-up protocol that I missed?
  12. if you cant beat them why not join them and have some fun rather?
  13. just get cleats. seriously. do it
  14. get cleats
  15. that brought back some cool memories - nice one. Windsurfing in Sandvlei, LAngebaan, Knysna - I never made it into the ocean, was too k@k, but still lots of fun
  16. i have DM'd you
  17. thats a good looking bike too
  18. looks like they've been ridden through road paint. Still, I thinks its quite cool
  19. follow him on STRAAAVAAAA!
  20. they represent a number of known and popular brands - what choice do you have?
  21. the posts in this thread really amaze me as to how online businesses in SA just don't seem to get it, and never even try to improve. ASG has been around long enough to have no excuse, and yet here they are dishing $#it sandwiches day in and day out. Do they have no pride in their business, or do they really just not care? Its like onedayonly as well - they must have the absolute worst customer service record judging by the litany of abuse they get on the social medias. They have also been around for long enough to know where they suck, but hey, you be getting a "bargain" so shut up and eat another poop sandich!
  22. Pyga - no contest. Can switch to 120mm
  23. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to check before I hit pay, after my last debacle trying to buy something from ASG. Don't buy ANYTHING from these guys without checking in person that the stock is, in fact available. I had the misfortune on previous occasions believing their "in-stock" listings, and the pain that ensued, including a 10 week wait for the product - they burnt me good and proper. I see, however, they continue to play games with customers - check this out today. This listing was around 10h30. I added the item to my cart - no problems there, but then decided to phone before I hit pay. Oops, I was told, no stock. Not cool, and I am sure there is all manner of false advertising whatwhat nonsense that they are flat out ignoring. Given the seemingly great specials they are running, be careful chaps, you are likely to be disappointed, and who knows if you will get your gear/money
  24. can confirm. i will also miss cycling mags.
  25. I am trying to get my hands on a Qhubeka bike for a gift, and they are fresh outta bikes. Ironically components come from the Covid capital Wuhan, and the out-of-hand sale of bikes is suspended for the foreseeable future. Does anyone have one, or know of a corporate/NGO that has any lying around that they are prepared to part with? I will donate the value of a new bike to Qubeka to get my hands on one. Any suggestions welcome
