    MTB weight

Anthem X29er medium 11.3kg, all in.
  2. R239 at Sportsman's Warehouse. Bought mine yesterday.
  4. My steel and alu ss comes in at over 14kgs of fun AND intense training.
  5. How's the WAF with the 2905s? I could never pull that off.
  6. Welcome to the party - sitting on R10 000 in savings!
  7. Enjoy! We'll probably see each other on the commute. Converted mine to SS, added the light and thicker bar as well as Conti tyres....lots of fun and cheap as chips! Running 44x16
  8. Haha, would definately have to do that. Although, I'm an esl guy....highs and lows are overrated! On a more serious note, Diana K, Priscilla Ahn, Rodrigo y gabriela and Johnny Cash always form part of my test session. If a system can replicate the drumming on the guitar front with Rodrigo, I'm impressed. BUT...every now and again it's time for some Rolling Stones or BRMC. PS, I've got the Grado SR60s - really do think that's one of the cheapest ways to get a taste of true music. Add a Woo audio to the mix and you're sorted. Can't imagine what the GS must sound like!
  9. Have you been able to listen to the ML Theos? Considering that as my consolidated loudspeaker set. Love the look of the MLs.
  10. On the Melkbos rd the buses get rather close...but it's the speed at which some people constantly come past that gets to me. With summer here it seems the number of guys that will hook on to your wheel seems to have exploded. At the very least they can say hi?
  11. Have a look at Franco Serblin's creations. Real wood, but as above built up from multiple sections. And remember, quite a few manufacturers specifically go for designs such as thin wall bracing over more rigid designs...enter for example Spendor, of which I am a great fan. My SA1s are some of the most musical I've heard. Of course at the other end of the spectrum you get YG Acoustics and Magico, utilising aluminium.
  12. Dangle, from the VA kit I take it you have had the pleasure of spending some quality time with Schalk? What a gentleman! His workmanship is incredible...had two Exclames before giving if up for Primare kit. You really do have some beautiful pieces there...those MLs must sing! How do you find the SFs on the VA amplification? They can be tricky to get right. I'm at the point where I'm contemplating selling my various sets of loudspeakers for one do-most-of-it set...just can't see myself getting rid of the panels or Spendors. RE Joel, I will never forget the first time I saw his USD waveguides...
  13. I hope one day you have the opportunity to listen to Katie Melua on ESLs. You won't listen to the music...you'll experience her own emotions. Then again, glowing tubes are not to everyone's liking, and that's perfectly fine.
  14. Not able to do much listening now, with the little one around. Luckily he still prefers the flashy dials on the washing machine over the Primare. Has been a mission to fire up the valve amps.
  15. Guys, make this real...Atta, BUT you have to eat two Spur burgers as well.
  16. Let's just say I operated on the IOU system here Only a few more months of commuting to pay off the new MTB. The priceless part is having a chat to a neighbour - and telling me he's now commuting as well every now and again since seeing me do so. It feels good to have been able to make a difference, even if it is a very small one.
  17. I've just hit the magical R10 000 of savings, just on fuel alone.
  18. Commuting on a singlespeed means constanly sore legs!
  19. Same here, but mine due to low bloodsugar. As long as I eat soon after a tough long ride, I'm fine. If I forget, it's halo time and vision blurred...too late then. The other long shot may be your glasses...eyestrain which will cause the headaches.
  20. Picture from earlier this week...on the way to work. Been lucky with the wind so far the last few days - makes for a spinning week Think my luck may run out this afternoon though.
  21. Schwalbe Marathon...Absolutely brilliant, long lasting and puncture resistant. I'm running Conti country plus on my hybrid, old ksyrium elite wheels. Be careful of going to wide as around corners, even with correct pressure they start squirming quite a bit. These are 37, so really pushing the limit ito width.
  22. Which one would you suggest then? My little wanderer is 14months old...can't wait to take him on rides (edit: and runs)! As for the training, commute, commute and commute. It saves money, is actually quicker than the car, and by the time I'm home I'm relaxed, done with training and ready to take over the little one. I also get to do one long ride on the weekend, but the rest is all her or family time. Seems to be rubbing off now, as she has started running again on her own as well. I'm happy with this arrangement anyway as there is nothing better than spending time with my little boy! We have some issues though: Are you on the ***** hub again?!? Are those shoes new?!? (The scary part is they're 2 years old! She even once asked that of one of my bikes...the very confused expression made her rethink it) Trying to store your cycling stuff, including bike. I have an issue with folding bibs, it just does not make sense, so now there is a cycling drawer that she has agreed to not even open.
  23. Couldn't afford two cars so the S had to sit in traffic. As you say clutch heavy, but also not liking the heat and would bog, esp if the intake cover is off (useless ito performance but what a sound!) Even so, utterly reliable and huge fun.
  24. Stunning car! Dog in traffic. Boot is deep, but oddly shaped, so no bike going in there. Technically should fit in the front seat but window slope might affect it, and absolutely no space behind seats.
