  1. Cabling is cabling it wont make a difference, if you really want to make a splash of cash at cables get yourself a XTR cable set they about R290 odd if I remember correctly
  2. Bike setup really is not difficult and you also don't need very specialist equiptment to do it to
  3. It means if your scale has ANT technology it can wirelessly transfer your weight to the Garmin, work like a dream for guys upgrading to power metre's that don't want to spend more cash on the tracking unit
  4. Its not the shop thats expensive its the supplier, one example for you Scott Spark bearing kit for pivots from Probike to retail at the shop for R1500, my bicycle shop at the time said now ways they are getting those for me and got bearings at bearing man for R150, they worked exactly the same
  5. I joined in May and was sorted by end of July. I paid R250 for my club fee can't remember how much I paid for my license fee and will do it again next year as it helps to grow the sport because goverment needs to see how many registered/active cyclists SA has before they decide how much funding they willing to give
  6. Garmin 500 for me, works like a dream, and small to!
  7. Some items they are cheaper and some items not...well still pays to shop around
  8. Go for your option with the shorter stem
  9. Ah well give them a try can't hurt its their 1st issue their has to be some teething problems
  10. You need slow rides as well in your program but I wont go into all the technical details. These rides are the ones that make you enjoy cycling again!
  11. They only brining those 899 Scale in frames only so a very very slim chance of testing one
  12. Depends on colour of your bike but it normally looks awesome!
  13. Well the GT's have a true life time warranty on their frames where the Silverbacks are 5 years if I remember correctly. I am not saying the Silverback is worse just that the GT is stiffer for me, I have ridden both
  14. No don't think so, next year alot of local suppliers are going to sell their products via websites, choose your bicycle shop and it gets delivered their and you pay their....oh and the prices are going to finally challenge CRC...well thats what they say we have to wait....
  15. Aerozine cheap option does not last, go for the ceramic option of them which does last
  16. GT frame would be better and stronger so my vote go with the GT
  17. If you are heavy be careful with Mavic, and the importers of Mavic are pathetic at getting parts from and take long although their wheels are beautiful. Easton's are nice and strong and will last but are a bit expensive, the Fulcrums would be a nice choice and are rather good value for money. American Classic's are nice and not expensive, think Victory 30's from them cost about R3100 and weigh 1550grams. You can get a light wheel from them for about R6500 My choice would be the Dura-Ace carbon wheelset, they are light stiff and very durable. My buddy weighs 95kg and rides on these, has had them for a year and have not yet had to have trued
  18. Depending on the geometry of the frame you can even ride a 52 in some brands, I am about as tall as you, well 1cm shorter but my in seam is the same as yours and I ride a 54, it makes a huge difference, you should be on a 54. Did you purchase the frame/bike 2nd hand or did you buy it new? Either way the person should not have sold it to you
  19. Going to be a long day in the saddle, enjoy
  20. Their rep should be the same as my area, phone Omnico directly my issues with warranty items with them have always been sorted out within a week
  21. Its very difficult to get affordable BB's for FSA cranks, not all Shimano one work but Aerozine Bb work perfectly, just make sure you take the ceramic Aerozine option they are not that expensive
  22. Hehe...defnitief veral die road bikes...mouth watering stuff
  23. Have you had your pivots replaced with the new ones from GT at no charge? If not do it, it makes a difference
  24. Man these bikes looked good in the flesh
  25. Go for Rock Shox they can be serviced the Suntours can only be serviced to a certain extent
