  1. Double checked with my LBS used DT Competition spokes and to date the hubs have not given me any hassles and their bearings are not that expensive. They seal very well to protect the bearings, used them on Sani2C and the Sabie Experience both muddy and wet races without a hassle. Doug from DT Swiss knows his stuff on wheels
  2. Go into you LBS and ask them to go through their manuals, all the groups weights are listed in their
  3. I have seen many customs wheels build in the past by friends and myself. Your best option to go for in my opinion which are bulletproof hubs and don't require special bearing replacement set or parts are DT Swiss hubs. These hubs are more expensive from the start but if you look at there maintanance requirements you make up that initial investment very quickly. I myself went for DT Swiss 240s hubs with ZTR Alpine Rims and DT Swiss spokes think either revelations or comps can't remember. These are easy to maintain and don't give me any hassles.
  4. What a machine, looks awesome!!! Must be very light to
  5. If you don't have tubeless tyres it will loose pressure if you don't ride as you need to ride with them for the tyre sealant to seal the small pores a non UST tyre has on its sidewalls
  6. You can do it yourself but kiss your warranty goodbye, you can get seals from any LBS. Their is a certain part on the shock if you remove it you may as well throw it away. If your confident go for it
  7. Nah its better to take it off, why do a minor service on the fork if you only open it up every 80hours+ of riding, may just as well do it properly and do seals and everything
  8. Can't be as a road bike is closer to 28" than 29", well thats what the measurements say
  9. You have two sides of the fence on this one, the Specialized side which works on width with refernce to your sitbones and then the Italians like Selle Italia, Selle San Marca, Pro Logo and Fizik who work on flexibility. In a way the Fizik group actually says that while you sit and bend over your sitbones are not taking the pressure anymore, I have done the test with the Fizik guys and it makes sense. The spesialized theory also makes sense, so who cares what who says as long as its comfortable for you its 110%
  10. It will be Truvativ handlebar, stem, etc
  11. Awesome looking machines who sells them, what shops?
  12. Wow thats impressive well done and money well spent With a DT Swiss fork or even a Sid you would even be lighter B)
  13. I recon its a ploy to get people to purchase PVR's, very sneaking but in a way makes business sense for them or do I mean more cash in their pockets
  14. Those ZTR Crest 29er rims are real nice
  15. You crazy if you want to go that way its not safe
  16. Better frame, 9speed gears and a better fork, jip I would pay the extra bit
  17. Truvativ Stylo, great crank and their blades to replace are not that expensive
  18. Go the Scott route you won't regret it one bit
  19. Cabling is cabling it wont make a difference, if you really want to make a splash of cash at cables get yourself a XTR cable set they about R290 odd if I remember correctly
  20. Bike setup really is not difficult and you also don't need very specialist equiptment to do it to
  21. It means if your scale has ANT technology it can wirelessly transfer your weight to the Garmin, work like a dream for guys upgrading to power metre's that don't want to spend more cash on the tracking unit
  22. Its not the shop thats expensive its the supplier, one example for you Scott Spark bearing kit for pivots from Probike to retail at the shop for R1500, my bicycle shop at the time said now ways they are getting those for me and got bearings at bearing man for R150, they worked exactly the same
  23. I joined in May and was sorted by end of July. I paid R250 for my club fee can't remember how much I paid for my license fee and will do it again next year as it helps to grow the sport because goverment needs to see how many registered/active cyclists SA has before they decide how much funding they willing to give
  24. Garmin 500 for me, works like a dream, and small to!
  25. Some items they are cheaper and some items not...well still pays to shop around
