  1. Care to elaborate?
  2. Would've been a bummer. Fortunately not!!
  3. As a Cheetah supporter, I'd like the Waratahs to win against the Crusaders. Looking good so far ...
  4. @scuzzy - I wouldn't know how to balance nor start peddling. How do you propose doing this? And camera footage please, or it didn't happen.
  5. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't been on my bike since Sani. I've had piles of work to catch up on and weather hasn't been great either. Well, that's my excuse and I sticking to it. And I don't think too many Western Cape folks will be on their bikes this weekend either.
  6. Don't want to open a can of worms here or go off topic on my own thread, but I saw quite a few riders at Sani struggling with their GoPro mounts, i.e. not being able to secure it properly to the bike. In fact, one such incident stopped me on day 2 down into the Umko. I was honestly quite relaxed about it, but it could be dangerous if not properly secured.
  7. I'm just starting to get a little bit excited about this weekend's fixtures ... with the crescendo peaking on Saturday at 19h00!!
  8. Yeah, have to agree. They are really great people and don't deserve the DQ, but unfortunately won't get the sympathy vote.
  9. So friends of mine recently completed a stage race. Unbeknown to them, when they looked up their results, they were DQ'ed on day 3. Upon following up, it transpires that a UCI official spotted one of them with earphones "hanging around their neck" and they were duly DQ'ed. Quite harsh I'd say, although I detest it when riders have earphones in during an event. It just takes away one of your senses, and makes it potentially dangerous to the rider concerned and those around him/her. Especially on single tracks in MTB events. What say you Hubbers? Fair or not to DQ? Should earphones be allowed or not?
  10. Lekker lag ek noutjies.
  11. Only thing I'll say is "just do it", but be sure to get your dates correct. If I'm not mistaken its not this weekend but the weekend thereafter.
  12. Ai toggie. Ja nee, julle mensies moenie so sukkel nie, hoor.
  13. Wishing Malcolm a full and speedy recovery. Not nice. From the Sani Facebook page ... Malcolm Estment, one of our riders, fractured a vertebra in his neck during a bad fall in the race and is currently recovering in Entebeni Hospital. His family is in Cape Town, so it would be great if riders in the area went to visit him. Farmer Glen, Mandy and Judy have popped in and he's very positive about his recovery. At the moment he has feeling in his arms but not in his hands. Doctors will decide in the next week whether they need to operate. Visiting hours are from 3pm to 4pm and 7pm to 8pm. You can find Malcolm on the 5th floor (neurological ward). Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery. And a post from his son: The accident occurred on the 3rd and last day of the Trail race on the last floating bridge only a few hundred meters from the finish line. I don't want to give exact details of how the accident took place to avoid misrepresentation of events that I was not there to witness. As soon as he is able, I will ask Dad if he would like to comment on the fall itself. His biking partner and best friend John Tennant was there to assist where he could and I believe that the life guards in the water and the GP onsite, nurse and paramedics all did a sterling job. John stayed at Dad's side, missing his return flight to Cape Town on the Thursday evening to wait for Arlene and I to get to Durban that evening. John, your support is more appreciated than you know.
  14. Sometimes. If spending more than 4 hours in the saddle.
  15. Not to mention Massa - two identical accidents in as many days!

    Drying sport perhaps?
  20. Yeah. Tells me he's not thinking with his heart or his head. Temporary insanity.
  21. No problem at all. You're already thinking with your head whilst I'm still thinking with my heart. Is there a(n) (unlikely) scenario where we could have a Bulls Cheetahs final?
  22. Easy. Sharks = Cheetahs B team. Support the A team.
  23. All good points. But don't underestimate Steyn's ability to run at the inside channel if the opposing 10 just drifts ever so slightly. Of course his tactical kcking will keep the 15 on his toes, but then there's that freak called Willie le Roux to cross cover as well. Love his style of play. Either which way, it's going to be a cracker. BTW - is Jano out of the mix? He was my least favorite scrummie at the start of the S15, but I thought his recent form made him my first choice 9 for the Boks.
  24. I would love to agree with you, but next week the Cheetahs halfback pairing will have to step up to the plate if they want to win. The loss of Goosen in the presence of Steyn might just become apparent.
  25. Just logged on after two days offline. Thank you Barry, for an open and honest account of what went down at the Epic (pardon the pun). Wishing you millions of clean and fun miles on your bike.
