  1. Another example of encouraging mediocrity? Hand out participation medals? parkrun is not about a race. The idea is participation and improvement. But of course many do try race and racing, even against oneself, is fun. So leave it be.
  2. Haha my mistake. I got confused😅 Het Koffielokaal seems your option
  3. I think you’re too far south 🙃 some very decent speciality spots further north 🙂
  4. You can also look at the German sites (eBay etc) perhaps
  5. Where in NL are you?
  6. Agreed. And in Europe in general. Many decent spots but sometimes hard to find. https://europeancoffeetrip.com/city-guides/ gives a few ideas
  7. There hasn’t been too much happiness with the UTMB empire lately that’s for sure.
  8. Not just difficult but incredibly costly. The costs associated with paying municipalities, police, metro police etc for road closures and personnel are significant for event organisers.
  9. Some make their way across the border. You’d be surprised at some of the bikes you spot in places like Mozambique. Some of them probably get loaded into containers and taken across the seas.
  10. Great video. Thanks. Do you also do testing for running at your Girona facility?
  11. And the ones getting “pocket money” from the franchises whilst at school
  12. Maybe give the Saucony Endorphin Speed a try. The Endorphin Speeds have a nylon plate (not carbon). You might also be able to pick up the Saucony Endorphin Pro (carbon plate) on special.
  13. Haven’t had much chance to get back on this thread. Well done to all those who took on Comrades and achieved your goals or had a tough day out but still took a lot out of the event. Every single person that commits to the training and lines up inspires me. The August date wasn’t too terrible I thought but would quite like it being in June. Living in the northern hemisphere though the August date definitely makes training that much easier. For those who complain about training in winter I smile sometimes. Not quite as unpleasant and challenging as trying to train through European winter (indeed dodging potholes in the dark in SA is risky business), believe me. The earlier sunrise and later sunset in August definitely helps, but the potential for a very warm day in August is always there. I do believe the aim is for June again. And a Down run again. This to get back into the pattern for a Down run 100th run in a few years. The August date this year was to try make it as late as possible to hopefully be clear of anything covid related potentially cancelling the event yet again. The ongoing roadworks and need for very expensive lighting that would have been needed in the earlier stages for a darker June run also played a role. How did everyone go?? I had a goal of silver and chuffed to get it with decent margin. Was definitely concerned how the legs would hold up to the hills given predominantly very flat training in the Netherlands and other flat European countries. Could run the downs okay in the latter stages.
  14. Not taking anything away from the bronze from Candice. But only 5 ladies finished the race. 6th and 7th were lapped and 8th was dnf. Seems like a lot effort putting on a race for 8 participants
  15. Agreed 37min 10k is not the same as 2h33 marathon.
  16. Mmmm. Not sure. Definitely lacking the hills.
  17. Anyone know what happened to Eli Iserbyt?
  18. Asked the same question a few weeks ago. Anyone doing Boston marathon on Monday?
  19. I have no idea of the product offerings at Decathlon in SA (vs Europe). Headlamps wise I couldn’t say but they might have options for lighting to be visible to motorists etc.
  20. I saw they’ve handed out quite a few pairs at some running clubs. Would be interested to hear the reviews so far
  21. Anyone run in the Forge V1 from New SA brand Pivot and Run? https://pivotandrun.co.za/
  22. Anyone here doing Boston Marathon this year?
  23. Not sure about compatibility. But what about trying a different brand entirely? I have the HydraPak flasks which seem decent so far.
  24. I do agree. There are a few questions that need to be asked before. Rather than just providing a plan straight away. I have found someone who has helped many others with plans to help them out.
