  1. They really don't do themselves any favours with their marketing. Wait till you start getting adverts for Steve hofmeyer concerts from them. Such a pity cos the Tour du Cap is special and could be even more so were it not for one or two things they just don't get right.
  2. You okes are distrusting
  3. 36one clashes...otherwise I'd be there
  4. I avoid the r27 at all costs.

    Munga Grit

JA some munga people opt not to carry an Uswe or Camelbak, instead generating solutions for bottles on the fork and in the frame. I've seen people use saddle mounted bottles like the tri-athletes use too - I didn't have much luck with those as the bottles fell out.

    Munga Grit

I haven't done northwest but I think it's pretty weather dependant. Generally you're not ever more than 50 or 60km from the next water on a Munga event but that could be anywhere between 2 and 5 hours depending on conditions and all the other intervening variables of an ultra.
  10. I hate those pavers - have fallen there myself - erosion on the sides can make them tricky -
  11. I remember primary school conversations around cards that had sports cars on them, or super heroes and heated arguments over which was better, faster, bigger, heavier .... I always thought the silver surfer was dope but Chat GPT doesn't even mention him The answer to "Who is the greatest superhero?" depends entirely on how you define “greatest”: 1. By Power: Superman often tops lists—he’s near-invincible, can fly, shoot lasers from his eyes, and once dragged a solar system with a chain. Doctor Manhattan (from Watchmen) literally manipulates matter and time. He’s more god than hero. 2. By Moral Authority: Captain America represents unwavering moral conviction, even when it's inconvenient. Spider-Man embodies the mantra “with great power comes great responsibility”, arguably the most concise superhero ethic ever penned. 3. By Popular and Cultural Impact: Batman wins hands down in many circles. No powers, just obsessive discipline, brains, and tech—and he’s generated more adaptations, merchandise, and psychological essays than any other hero. Wonder Woman broke gender barriers and stands as a feminist icon. 4. By Psychological Depth: Wolverine or The Hulk might win here—both are plagued by inner conflict and trauma, adding existential grit to their mythology. If you're asking for a considered opinion, I’d argue: Batman is the greatest superhero for the combination of psychological depth, moral ambiguity, cultural influence, and staying power. He makes heroism plausible—no superpowers, just the choice to act. Would you like to explore who might be the greatest superhero by narrative structure or literary significance?
  12. What's the easiest MTB race in the country?
  13. Me neither - I think it is incumbent on all of us to call this kind of nonsense out
  14. MTB is the new Golf?
  15. Hosepipe and hang on washing line
  16. Frequently see walkers, skateboarders and other recreational activities happening there so I suppose it was just a matter of time. Also, delivery motorbikes use it as a shortcut.
  17. Has not been repaired. Rode it 3 or 4 weeks ago going up - I wouldn't descend at speed because of debris etc ... and pedestrians
  18. I have no idea what the cost would be - three million capital outlay? A couple of million a year? I'm thumbsucking - I imagine drones would be all but invisible to people using the mountain? I recently got a little DJI as a birthday present so that's the full extent of my knowledge - I'm amazed at the range and capacity of what is essentially a toy.
  19. Eina!! Where did this happen?
  20. A modest capital outlay and a similarly modest ongoing cost would buy a drone based control center for TMNP to co-ordinate ranger response and mitigate the crime risks and would be repaid in intangible and tangible benefits for all. There is not the will nor the competence to establish this unfortunately.
  21. Deliberately started according to news reports
  22. .... the oke on the corner in his rags, seizing on the soggy brown banana I gave him at the end of my ride, a lifetime of malnutrition etched in filth and desperation on his face ....
  23. Please do follow up @Shebeen- I'm not getting over the fact that this route is lost
  24. Well we have lost access to one of the area's most lovely places to go and ride. It is deeply disappointing when this happens but it seems unless there's someone enforcing rules and brokering an arrangement with landowners like Patrick at Tgmtb, that same percentage of people who drive like @$$hats, ride like @$$hats and screws it for us.
  25. That's my kind of ride that!!!
