  5. spent a day in ER once with caffeine poisoning the doc took one look into my eyes and kept on asking me what drugs I took & I could not convince him that I was not taking anything a couple of glucose drips later I was doing just fine. it took them a couple of days of blood testing to figure out that I actually had caffeine poisoning. you cant get it from a one day binge - it builds up in your system over days / weeks before it hits you. if you drink enough water to flush the kidneys you should be just fine.
  6. this is a shock! Ben is great guy! Hopefully he would be OK!!!!! always happy to see me and always time for a chat - even at the races! I bought my very first bike from him - and then 2 more bikes, and shoes, and helmets and...
  7. eat more carbs to restore the glycogen - it wont make you put on weight if you eat it within an hour of hard exercise.
  8. ...all this is making me feel rather inferior sitting at 3.6W/Kg
  9. it's all about the intensity of the ride, not the distance... (have you seen what Witkoppen / Main looks like at 07:20 in the morning???) anyhow - MWNN is correct - Pantani also took a shortcut yesterday morning! Pantani - does that little gold & black bike still have a PT on it?
  10. looks like I missed a bit of action this morning. it has been a while since MWNN got up in time for the Engen Series start... Dr. Seuss2008-09-04 03:08:05

  15. BSC - get them at CycleLab or PM bruce Dr. Seuss2008-07-14 11:07:54
  16. how did you lose all your kit on sunday? sounds to me that you are wearing way too much kit -- i just do winter bib - full length for when i will be back before the sun comes up and 3/4 for when i will be back later. canberra long sleeve undershirt (the stuff the rugby players wear) - this is excellent with moisture wicking and actually does maintain a comfortable body temp (almost like climate control) normal LS cycling top and windproof bib if it is howling after snow in lesotho. most important is the beanie - nike skullcap is the best!!!! windproof gloves. neoprene booties for when back when it is still dark and neoprene toecaps for when back later.
  17. why would they have tested him for cocaine in any case instead of the true performance enhancing stuff like EPO, steroids or testosterone? i am sure they dont just draw blood and test for about 100 substances with cocaine being one of them? to what performance enhancing benefit is cocaine in any case? does it mask the pain? just find it strange for someone to do an out of competition test and then test for cocaine that i am sure does not stay in our body long enough to have any affect come race day.
  18. get that i-magic listed somewhere here - going for more than you are wanting to spend, but at least you will use it far more often and it will last a long time.
  19. check you chain links - could have one that is stiff

    HGH

my 2c -- how can you take something that warms you up and gives you a "tingly feeling" over your body and then still think it it safe? remember this stuff is going into your kidneys and liver as well... you cant buy HGH over the counter in any case - these supplements (GABA in particular) claim to stimulate HGH production in the body - seems to me there is only one very dodgy study done in milan to support the fact. seems to me a lot of these supplements claim to do wonderful things and manufacturers generally just bottle a promise. snake-oil salesman? was it Nivea that had to stop claiming that one of their creams acts as the skins natural fat burner because it contains l-carnitine? how can a cream containing an amino acid applied to the skin ever be absorbed to promote fat loss? again there is no substantial evidence that backs this up. 21. now you i have not seen for a while! on leave, so slept nice & late - now i have L5 session waiting for me - still not decided if i am going to do it on the IDT or at the cradle
  22. see him every morning and he is just fine, but i am not so sure about his mind...
  23. http://www.tacxvr.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1699&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 cant get it to match the PT, but you can get close - it seems that in high cadence (90+) it seems to be rather accurate, but as soon as you drop to about 80 - 85 it overestimates you wattage by 10-20watts depending on how hard you are going.
