  1. 8 laps? i was sure we only did 6! my lights went out after 20mins & i lost count of pretty much anything and everything after that! was hard racing, but a lot of fun. nice report bruce - was it not for the "Pyramid of Pain" there would have been no way i would have stuck it past lap 1!!! nochain - sorry for you, but as far as I know dougie is here to stay.
  2. I think some of the guys battle to warm up before a race.....rollers work nicely as you warm up quite quickly in a few minutes. No wind to cool you down and then the puncture thing that was mentioned. was very nice to sit on the rollers for 40mins and then wait 30mins in the starting pen before we hit the road! i could have slept 40mins longer!!!!!!!!
  3. cool - i can see my hand pointing to christie & spinnekop.
  4. think it is the cheapest frame on the pro tour and i still see photos of the CSC guys riding them in ProCycling and CyclingNews i am convinced that a lot of the middle to lower priced carbon frames are heavier than the soloist alu
  5. also have the soloist team & use it as a training bike. great ride, but you do feel every little bump in the road, but really stiff. got a carbon seatpost for it, but just have not gotten round to to putting it on yet. can be a little heavy when you pick it up, but you don't really feel it when you are riding the bike. i am sure with some light components, lighter fork, carbon bar etc. you can get this bike down to about 7kg's.
  6. i found it very interesting. hunter allen is great speaker & i am a bit upset that i did not manage to wangle things here at work so i can attend the coaching course as well! was great to see the power stats of Jens V - it sort of puts things into perspective of how hard these guys can go when it really matters! was good to have met bikemax as well. thanks to bruce for inviting me on a ride with hunter & peter on the saturday morning - it was a privilege & i had to really constrain myself not to bombard hunter with all sorts of questions! (but then again bruce does not know that his bike has a small blade, nor does peter, so there was not much time for talking!)
  7. ...but it cant show you the temperature!!!! Dr. Seuss2007-07-12 09:14:39
  8. cant you put a fan behind you or to the side? even if you have it blowing on you legs it should make a difference. perhaps point it away from you - it should still cool the room down a bit. as i said - the fan made a HUGE difference for me. http://www.cyclingforums.com/t-343971-15-1.html
  9. if you showed up for more than one clubride a year you might just get to average 200w
  10. have to agree - 200W is easy even in my book... 1000W plus and probably for 30s plus - now that is something else!
  11. 101% - plse just never make your watts/kg public - i suspect it would discourage some of us. where's the pics of your new steed?
  12. the boys must have seen the PT built into my ZIPP and started to get a bit worried for the coming season. i would love to hear the comments after that first Pyramid of Pain session!
  13. looks like they went without you - sorry! is there mr. price teams outside of kzn? will find out more.
  14. two of our guys are there - apparently not that many entrants from what they can tell & they would possibly make all the licensed age cats. start together. they say that there is a mr. price team?
  15. toemaar jason - selle ding hier! hoeveel weeg die oom - miskien sal dit dinge meer in perspektief stel? my peak 5s is maar 807 watts (11.8w/kg)

    OMG

good luck to anyone putting anything in their bodies that is manufactured by Shandong Kexing Bioproducts! the name in itself sounds a bit dodgy. i suspect the dried apes & vultures you can get from the Sangoma (oops, sorry - Traditional Healers) market in town could be more sterile...
  17. crux - try and get the book "How to Train and Race with a Power Meter" by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan - I got my copy from Cycletech - last I was there I am sure I saw a copy or two in Marco's shop. also check out the Training with Power section on BikeMax's website.
  18. leave him BikeMax - let him bail! in fact, Bruce - take the rest of the week off and enjoy the fine wine and cuisine the area has to offer. do as little physical activity as possible. between 101% sleeping in and bruce not doing his 2x20's the cowboys are becoming a bit soft it seems ...
  19. I am going to let your coach answer that... Depends on a lot of other factors - I am only getting 4 weekday sessions of an hour each' date=' so I can get away with it mostly - the 4th session is often easier in terms of overall load but still some high intensity. [/quote'] i already know the answer - NOT a good idea on my current schedule! Dr. Seuss2007-06-27 06:40:24
  20. is it a good idea to to L4/L5's in 3 consecutive days?
