  1. Well done Capies. A few people raised their game this year, can't wait for Giro
  2. I think its on. Not sure if prize money is guaranteed.
  3. Vkin hel, donner, bliksem, ek en Latrinus is gister ge enter. Het vanoggend 2h gery. Sal ons fit word? Hy kry vlgde week n mountain bike. Goal. Top 25 masters, 100 overall.
  4. Does Dawid get results if he's so strong. Remember 10th in TdB is broomwagon in Giro. TCS get your riders ready to do Argus in A bunch.
  5. money
  6. There are moves to try and let the pro's ride the Giro?ARGUS stage at 15h00. This short route mixing up was a reason why I didnt enter the 99er. Austin, come and ride the Tour de Boland next year, very safe, no funriders, rolling road closure! No... not you, your team!
  7. There should be an officials association in your province. Put an complaint in against this person. The days of them and us is finished. Or complain via your club, they can go to the province. Come and ride Tour de Boland next year. We treat the riders as adults.
  8. The letter was about Gotty getting ousted by CSA. They say you must read the Bible in context, the HUB is allmost like the Bible. Welcome to this forum, we may critisize. i hope Gotty enjoys his retirement in Plett.
  9. eRik is training moerse hard, not getting the results he deserves, I hope he has a good Giro. Doing a lot more quality this year than before, and the team is better. Unfortunateley, Arno V rides for Nam again. Erik and Chris allmost got Arno's Helshoogte time, from the 100 board just before the railings. 10m05sec, Arno's club record 9m45.
  10. We wanted to imitate some of the hilly stages in the Giro, but as soon as you have mountains the traffic costs escalate. The Paarl traffic people didnt charge us anything. If we have a bigger budget next year, hopefully, we will have the mountains. We had 56 entries at R250 each gives you R14000, the prize money was exactly that, R14000. I hope we get some of the Gauteng teams next year.
  11. WE will have a debriefing, need some negative and positive critisism of this event. I know about: Marketing, stage 2 directional boards, marshalls not well trained, traffic entering paarl from Wellington. But it was nice to see people race on the right hand side gutter without getting warned! I also think I wont invite vets to next years event, they take the leagues to seriously, and its a lot of expenses to have an extra race. Otherwise I really enjoyed organising , and we had a good vibe between riders, officials and organisers. its supposed to be FUN!
  12. Yes Chunky, its the same guy. i think that letter was written in the early hours of the morning, like most of his posts. And after a few brandys. I will enter Carinus for one of the makeover shows on TV. I think one of the major complaints against the top bras in CSA is the bad lines of communicating. Carinus was appointed to improve on that, and other things.
  13. He was the cycling reporter for Nasionale pers in the 80's. Went on all the big tours to enjoy his brandy and coke. I had a chat with him a few months ago when he and Willemse were going to launch a fund to fight against drugs in sport. Nothing happened about that. Its interesting that he still want Gotty and the guys in charge. Gotty needed to go to his beach house in Orania. I dont like the personal attacks and I think before one says someone is criminal you must first check your facts. I dont know about that. Colin is the same dude that Chunky so much sh*t in all hours of the morning. Lets judge Carinus on the Giro and Colin on the CSA website.

No reply so far.

  17. Dear Funrider If you miss the split you're out of the race. You may just as well return to your car. If you're not in the front of the bunch same thing. It's about winning for the elites. How do you know you're a funrider: You ask someone what their time was, or you check your own time!!!!! If you dont believe me, ask one of the pro's their time yesterday. Or in last years Argus. Maybe the racing is negative after the break went away, or the split occured. i get so de moer in if people shout at me to pace hard after we were dropped. Dude, the race is finished. Meanwhile, go back to the B bunch. And where did those juniors finish?? At the finish, not the hot spot.
  18. Now we dont have to wear HELMETS!!!
  19. Lemmer appointed COO for 4 month trial period - Wilhelm de Swardt (Beeld) << BackFriday, February 09, 2007 In what will be seen as a surpise for many, Cycling South Africa (CSA) has appointed Carinus Lemmer as its new Chief Oprating Officer (COO) for a trial period of four months. According to Lemmer, who is closely involved with Maties Cycling Club and Harmony-Schwinn, it does not bother him that his appointment is not permanent. Lemmer is also the Tour Director for the Cape Argus Pick ?n Pay Giro del Capo. "Actually it suits me. It gives me time to see whether I can do the job and also whether I want to do it on a permanent basis. It also makes it easier for Cycling South Africa if they are not satisfied with the way I do things." Lemmer makes it very clear that at the moment he has no real big vision for South African cycling apart from promoting cycling as mass participation sport. "CSA wants me to start an awareness campaign for the misuse of performance enhancement products. I want everybody involved in cycling to participate in one way or the other. It would be great if we can get to a situation where cyclists have got enough confidence in CSA to come to us when they know about drug abuse cases. "Lawrence Whittaker, chairman of Cycling South Africa, already proposed last year that we should implement a system where cyclists could on a voluntary basis go for lie-detector tests to prove that they are clean. "Riders passing the test will then be able to wear special armbands during races to prove their status as clean riders. "I have been asked to see if we cannot try and do this in the week building up to the Argus." Lemmer who rode for Bic during 1989-1991 also wants to talk to some of he ex-professionals to see whether they would consider giving talks on how they managed to win races without using any illegal substances. One of the other things Lemmer has got to work on is apparently to improve the seeding-system for all cyclists. He will be making contact with the cycling bodies of some other countries to find out how they are doing their seeding. The third thing Lemmer will be working on in his first four months as COO is to better the communication between CSA and all the role players involved in the sport. Asked why he accepted the job as COO, Lemmer said that it meant he could live out his passion as cyclist himself. Lemmer makes it clear that he is still a very active cyclist. At the moment he is training to compete in an Audax-event in France where riders have to complete 1 200km in three days. ?I have already done the first qualifying ride of 400km in one day but I still have to do a ride of 600km in a day.? Lemmer will also be doing the Cape Epic. As pro-rider in the late eighties and early nineties he competed in all of South Africa?s major tours. He proudly tells that he has competed and finished the Rapport Tour twice. The last time was in 1991. He then rode as a ?privateer?. According to Lemmer he has won a ?moerse? lot of medals (silver and bronze) in track events and also managed a few podium placings in some of South Africa?s one day Classics. His best result was finishing 2nd in the Argus. http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/Images/butt_email.gifhttp://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/butt_print.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/CycleLab_02.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/CycleLab_01.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/anatomicbutton_1.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/banner.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/banner2rob.jpg http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/Bianchi02.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/120x60_hitroad.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/CycleLab_02.gif http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/images/Banners/CycleLab_01.gif ? 20. This is the time when everyone starts pulling out of the Epic. Not sure if Latrinus organised us an entry yet... and his 10k's overweight...
  21. U dropped down one group!! My last Argus was the windy one in '05 A bunch in 2h58m. So I drop from A to PE, starting around 10am!!!! Can anyone beat that?
  22. Just finished with base, and now 3 league races in January, a bit soon. What now? Maybe use the races as intervals, hill climb training?
  23. A manager gets good results with good riders, players. Look at Johan Bruyneel, seemed he could do nothing wrong when Lance was there, and in 2006, they were really bad. Tony got good results with the right riders, allthough the performances of Hunter at Olympics and Worlds not good at all, most under Tony. But hats off with the Langkawi performances, good for him. I just think he needs to get more on his CV than "the guy who discovered/managed/made money out of???" Hunter. The questions cause I'm not 100% sure of the facts. I also think he ignored Cape riders and racing too much as national selector. There were about 3 Cape riders nominated by other national selectors for the Langkawi training camp, he just laughed at the names. Cape Town also produced 2 SA champs in the vets road champs, both ignored for worlds.
  24. Good, no one could work with him anyway. A bit big for his boots. Did he also resign as selector. Who will pay him his R10 000 retainer now
  25. The FRench named rider is Cape Town rider Gilbert Quevailliers. He was in about 10th place in elite SA road. Also raced with CSC in mauritius. Solid, slowish, domestique. I hear Jeremy Maartens is a BIT overweight, hope he finds the motivation to train well. Maties has nice team next year. Erik Kleinhans, Alex Milner, Ryan Kemp, Micheal v Staden, maybe Neil Gardner. Harmony also signing Cape Town based riders , mostly ex Liberty I hear.
