  1. Where does it state that you need to be a "paid up parent"? So old boys cannot ride there or people frequenting Higher Ground?
  2. True, that is why I generally only buy booze from them, one size fits all!
  3. One Day Only special on Fox Rangers - R700 https://www.onedayonly.co.za/fox-ranger-cargo-shorts-20200922.html
  4. Benefits: i) Don't look like a chop ii) Pockets to hold cash, cards iii) Because inners are sewn in they don't slip down like cycle shorts under baggies would - saves you having to wear a bib iv) Hellavu lot easier to have a pee break
  5. Go to Sani2C website as the are selling all old stock and Indola baggies are in the mix - seem to recall them be round the R700 mark
  6. Go to a dog park if you want your dog to run free - not the busiest thoroughfare in all of Jhb over the weekend strewn with other dogs, kids, horses, walkers, cyclists and innocent ducklings. Off the leash is never going to end well in Delta
  7. Where on the Spruit may I ask? I understand that there is loads of jeep track or dual "single lane" and obviously one keeps to the left but the only place I can think of there possibly being a one way traffic flow is at the bottom of Delta Park.
  8. All the best, hope its just the start of great things to come!
  9. Thanks Duane! That is it!
  10. Possibly not the typical buyers guide question most of you are used to be I have searched social media high and low and cannot find what I am looking for. About 2 weeks ago I saw an ad from a company (in Joeys I think) that takes the satellite pic of your route and prints and frames it - really looks cool. Any chance anyone knows the name or contact details of this company? Thanks
  11. That was my thought process too, as I have been riding on that exact same pavement during lockdown, so I thought rather head to the Spruit, only problem now is drunk motorist risk is replaced by some dude hiding in the bush with a knife or gun ready to rob you! Cannot win!
  12. Just saw a post on FB and Jozi Trails where fences and gates have been erected just before and after that little river crossing near William Nicol/Republic. Anyone know anything about it, is it just a security measure for the evening or permanent? Will follow the post to see if Jozi Trails knows anything.
  13. Holla Trails appears to be open as received a mail from them saying great to have everyone back but they noticed that several people were riding without permits ie had not paid to ride (not lockdown related permits!).
  14. Don't quite agree with that logic as they have far bigger overheads than online stores yet they will price match - I see no issue with that - each to their own though
  15. I always steered clear of Cycle Lab as I believed that I would get a better, more personalised experience/service from the smaller LBS types . That has not been my experience - perhaps I never went to the right LBS but I gave up trying to find the right one after many misses. I am now a very happy Cycle Lab (Fourways) "regular".
  16. Thanks all, will be sticking it out, bought the tyres just in case I have a blow out but will aim to put them on only post lockdown
  17. My current tyres are starting to look worse for wear, is it worth putting new decent tyres on my MTB if most of my riding during lockdown will be on tar? Other option would be to stick it out on my dodge tyres or buy el cheapos which I use in the interim?
  18. I was in NZ in early March and visited Piha whilst they were busy setting up for the Piha surf classic. Few days later it was called off due to Covid-19 and the town took a huge knock as a result. Beautiful spot that!
  19. A few special wankers out in Fourways area this am - passed 2 pretty large bunches - it's tjops like these that will get this exercise time taken away. Perhaps if we all make a point of hurling abuse at them they will get the message or do you think the sense of entitlement runs so deep it wont make a difference?
  20. Oh, I also hooked it to the West Coast ie Piha and Titirangi - amazing that those places are like an hour from the CBD. Also did a hike in the Waitakere Ranges - beautiful and peaceful. Corona has obviously cocked a lot of things up but when I was in Piha they were setting up for the Piha surf classic and that whole town relies on that event which is now binned - so sad.
  21. Looks like I managed to get in and out just in time - I landed back in SA on Saturday! Wayne and Patches, sorry we didn't get round to that beer/coffee but the few free days I had actually got taken up with unexpected meetings, rather coffees, discovered the Kiwi's love an informal coffee, with some peeps in the banks that the recruiters managed to line up. Spent my fist week in a very cool loft in Grafton/New Market and really enjoyed the vibe of the city and all those scooters and e-bikes that you can just hop on and get around. That AT App is better than sliced bread too, really enjoyed my stay in that area and had a lekker night out in Ponsonby - draughts are not cheap though! Then went and stayed with a mate and his family in Murray's Bay and he drove me around the North Shore over the weekend so I got my bearings. I was fortunate to have the use of another mate's car during the week so I then went and checked out all the bays on the North Shore in a little more detail. Really dig how each Bay has it's own little beach an then a few roads in it's own little "village" - granted Brown's Bay is a tad larger! I liked the feel of Torbay to be honest. Didn't really dig Long Bay that much, felt like a smaller, ungated version of Waterfall estate! I really enjoyed the North Shore but if I stayed there then my view is you really need to make an effort to get down to the beach during the week or else what is the point? One spot that stood out for me was Greenhithe - seemed a bit more insular and that Wainoni Park felt like one of those commons in the UK and the pony club and walks around the neighbourhood are awesome. The Malt could also make for an ideal local and you have access to the water. Getting into CBD you could cycle to Hobsonville and hook the ferry into Britomart - I must say I am really leaning towards Greenhithe. Was curious as to your guys views and if you had heard anything about Greenhithe - I heard that they have a good community gees and have quite a few community get together type things. Other than that, what can I say, the place was clean, people follow the rules, pace seems far less frenetic, obviously safe, you can see where peoples tax money is going and I had a great time - on the other hand, it costs you to breathe and my eyes are still watering at the type of house you get for R15m!
