  1. Umm.... this has taken an unexpected direction but: JF - Butch DR - No idea /interest, but the avatar is not encouraging. Need opinions from people who've seen you - start a poll?
  2. I've seen the magazine ads for Raleigh with Jaques Fullard looking very butch & saying that he think they're great.... so I guess they must be
  3. Ladies 2 x world cup champion rides a raleigh - but they're not like "our" raleighs. Best team in the country by faaaaaaarrrrrr ride raleighs - ahhh but they're forced to. Looks like people see what they want to see. Same with the M Lange thread. You like him, you excuse his words; you don't like him, you condemn him on the same words. We've all got our preferences and prejudices but sticking with them so rigidly makes people look silly.
  4. Hi WW If you can't find one check with the airline people moving your bike if they're still selling them. I paid R100 for a box 2 years ago at the drop off point for bikes and they put some wrap on the vital bits. I only had to take off the front wheel, whereas a lot of shop boxes will need more dismantling of ur bike. U should take bubble wrap along if you're going the airport option.
  5. She must be pretty good to do this on a Supermarket bike. Nicole Cooke Wins The World Cup! http://www.raleighbikes.com/media/nicolecooke.jpg Riding her Raleigh, Nicole is the World Cup Champion for the second time. Read all about it on her web site. Oh and if you say "Raleigh frames are cracking" it can be taken as a compliment in UK parlance. What do I ride? Raleigh since my 1st tricycle at the age of 3!
  6. Hot and bothered ...
  7. The thing about the elites being faster than expected and intersecting the fun riders was raised yesterday and call me a bit thick but I don't understand. The fun riders were there before during and well after the elites went past - like hours after. The only way to avoid them was to get to the intersection before they arrived. From the telly it looked like the trafficat the intersection was the main problem.
  8. That's the way it goes DT I liked it that you didn't name the shop (not that I saw) - that's more decent than some of the "knife" attempts we get here.
  9. Apart from literacy it's hard to see what his problem is amongst the hints and innuendo - possibly he's trying to avoid specifics in case it comes back to haunt him later. Anybody remember the rastafarian cyclist in Thelma and Louise when he blows cannabis smoke through the airholes of the police car's trunk containing the bad cop? Thought that was pretty funny - maybe it's the way forward.
  10. Ironic signature Underachiever.
  11. How far did you manage ? About 20mtrs after a couple of attempts. Car was of next door neighbour in USAF - we used to live near their bases in the Uk. Him not happy but time heals.
  12. When I was 10 I was hit by the side of a stationary car whilst trying to see how far I could cycle with my eyes closed. Some might say it wasn't all the car's fault but I like to reflect on how it's one in the eye for Darwinists and other genetic supremacists as I'm still here.
  13. Ride nice, be considerate, smile. Life's too short and could get shorter by acting the same way as the people we criticise.
  14. It's a big tin and when I was reaching for it and it fell off the top shelf and hit my head, I would say that was harmful to my body. Other than that, no.
  15. Means it costs a lot.
  16. Hi Alida There's a school in running and cycling that says there's nothing better than half coke and half water and anything like Cytomax just makes for expensive urine. If it's working for you stick with it. I really liked the difference Cytomax made to endurance, buffering etc. but it made me feel a bit crampy / bloated so I've switched to Cytogen that doesn't have that effect but maybe isn't as good in the performance areas. My 2cs
  17. ??????????? Was she overcome with your sporting prowess that she had to make that leap, or what? We need the video of this, or at least a diagram.
  18. Hi Mux, I reckon I'm a middling cyclist and know what it's like to be uncomfortable going fast. With the wobble I s'pose it has to be you or the bike and it's probably not the bike as something would have fallen off by now or made a loud noise if it was that defective as to give a pronounced wobble. I'd check to see if how tense you are, if you're expecting a wobble, chances are you stiffen up and it's self-fulfilling. Balance and nerves work in opposite directions. Anything over 55 and I come off the drops onto the hoods, still crouched, but I don't feel stable in the lower position - there's more leverage for the bars to move around so I come out of it. If you're relaxed on the hill you mention, 80 even with the bumps is fun because it's smooth and wide. So my 2cs is to say be aware of how you're feeling and slowly work your confidence up by increasing speed on downhills for shortish periods, then coming back to where you're comfortable. I find thoughts of crashing a pain but they get easier with time (and no crashes!). You could also check that your wheels are not banana-shaped. Good luck
  19. Great day; sad day. Well done to everyone for making it happen.
  20. Jeez Widget, sorry man.
  21. In the soccer team when I was 10, the coach before the game says "right I want you to give 200%" I said "then won't we be worn out by half-time, sir?" Don't remember getting picked again.
  22. Ahhh yes you remember - well he's come and gone (so to speak) and I'm not a grandfather yet - as far as I know.
  23. What's the best line you've heard from a kid or said as a kid? My 16 yr old needed dropping at her new friend who is a boy last week, and when I asked when she said: "Half an hour, he's not back fro re-hab until 7"
