The size of the contact patch is so small that groves are irrelevant for water dissipation. The important factor is how well the softer tire molds to the harder road surface. So the softer the compound the better the grip, but like all thing in live, the shorter the life of the tire will be and the more prone to cut s it will be. Some manufactures try to juggle this by using a harder compound in the centre, high wearing area, and softer compounds on the shoulder of the tire where you would like more grip.

In running you still have to use the sponsors number for the bigger races and they also like to hold watered down expos. But for the smaller races you can enter at your local running shop, get your number and pick up your goody bag as you finish. I am/was also a bike rider. TB is missing out on a great marketing opportunity by not having a bunch of cyclists riding in their kit in the 94.7?..

  24. That could be a problem but will depend on the head tube length. I ride a 54 because I like a shorter top tube. All measurements say I should ride a 56. I have a bunch of spacers to lift the front end a bit. You can use BBB Extender to increase the length of the steerer tube. This will unfortunately add weight. I used it to fix MTB front shock after I cut it to short many moons ago. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  25. Velo is right. Measure your Horizontal top tube lenght, this is virtual on a sloping top tube. This is the most important measurement on the frame. If it is the in the right range (in the 535 to 545 range for a 54 frame) just get a longer seat post which is a lot cheaper than a new frame.
