Futurlife is almost the same as Pro Nutro

raw oats (oatbran, i think, the box looks different) with double-cream greek yogurt and a sliced banana or a handful of dried cranberries or any othger fruit.

you could probably replace the greek yogurt with something with less fat :)

or half outbran & half futurelife.

havent tasted the futurelife chocolate, will have to go hunt for a box.

white toast with honey or jam...

Did an 84km ride today on the back dirt roads, took 2 sandwiches (4 slices) of that white GI bread with peanut butter and honey on them and every 45-60 minutes I ate a quarter and drank water. Works well. Breakfast was some toast with jam.

You could say that. Future life has more benefit with the Moducare though. I use the same amount of Fututre life as Pro Nutro but find it take longer for me to get hungry with the Future Life.

I have oats mixed with Future Life. First boil the oates, than add milk and then add the FL - it gives it a nice creammy taste. 50/50 It's great!!!

PS - PnP in Claremont/CT has FL on special - R19,99 (Friday when i was there)

Before a rather big outride I used to have oats (mornings)

I've come to a point where I cannot even look at oats anymore, everytime I looked a spoon with oats I had gag reflexes, and everything I did manage to swallow I wanted to throw up (excuse the picture)

What would be the best replacement for oats, as I know it's carb rich and slow release to keep me going.

I know I could google this but I might not find something thats tried and tested by other riders...

Just stumbled onto a recipe that made me think of this tread...... :D :D :D

Have you tried this: I am sure you will have a great day..........or not?

Looks like is its non fattening too.

do what i did to my hubby when we were married for 6 months when i ran out of salt, add a heaped tablespoon of aromat to your oats, see how much you can eat without puking. after that you will appreciate your oats again

I use flavoured instant oats... Cant keep any flavour down especially the plain

According to my dietician, Instant Oats aren't anywhere near as good as the non-instant oats.

She also mentioned that its better to soak oats in hot water for 20-30 min than cooked them. They open up when cooking and there realise energy quicker.

I got Bircher Muesli from Pick 'n Pay. Its in a shaped box (wide at bottom, narrow at top). It is absolutely DELICIOUS !!! You just mix it with yoghurt or Apple juice if lactose intolernt and then leave it over night. If you want, grate some apple over it in the morning (I'm lazy and don't bother with this).

I now alternate between the Bircher Muesli, Oats and Future Life which helps with the boredom factor.

I buy the oats or instant oats, but I make a point of only buying oats of which the ingredients is only rolled oats or oats flakes. No additives or anything.

Now bearing that in mind it is interesting the different brands the taste differs a lot. Some of them have the immediate gholf-ball-in-the-cheek effect and others actually taste good. ( I eat the oats with hot water- no sugar or milk)

So what I am trying to say is have you tried to buy just a different brand?

I did some blood glucose testing on the 32Gi chews, which will show you the stability.

So basically I did this:

Oats breakfast, with future life in it, honey, yoghurt, almonds, half apple, nice pre-race meal :-)

1:30 later did a blood glucose test blood glucose sat at 5.4

I then ate 4 packets of 32Gi chews right after each other, yes I know ill feeling from overload, BUT

then took my blood glucose levels +-25minutes after, and blood glucose went to 6.2 it stayed stable for 90minutes and then went back to 5.4 after.

Really shows stability and balanced release.
