Dammit I was starting to get conflicting reports last night and almost got hopeful

Last night, it depended who you followed or listened to. Some were saying off and some were saying on. Then eventually 2 hours before the start of FP1 the FIAsco came out of a meeting with the race organisers and they said it is off.

I don't watch Soccer or NBA so was not phased when they started cancelling all those games. But then the MotoGP last weekend, F1 this weekend and all the cycling I am starting to feel sad. At least the UFC is going on-for now.

I listen to HOT 91.9 when I do drive and this morning it was raining so drove, they played a snippet from a few days ago. Jeremy told John to do a sports report for 3 weeks time. It was hilarious because he was reporting on dogs chasing each other around the garden. No sport to report on. It seems it is going that way. I hear all the RSA vs India ODI's will be played with no fans.

Bahrain and Vietnam postponed. Season is now only expected to start in Europe at the end of May.

Nothing said about the Dutch and Spanish GP in the beginning of May?

Bold section was not part of the official statement. So expect it was just bad reporting.

It's been raining here the whole day and the trails are as slippery as hell, so decided to binge on "Drive to Survive 2"

I enjoyed the Gasly / Albon story, but the rest was pretty ordinary. The Williams saga was a big let down.

I see the FIA say it was the Aussie government's late response that led to cancellation happening so late.

Again, this was more likely delaying to maintain the revenue. If the FIA cancel they still need to pay the promoters, track fee's, etc. If their hand is forced by government then that waives any fee's.

Same reason why MotoGP is doing everything they can to postpone and delay as opposed to cancellations which would mean paying tracks and promoters with no racing to bring in money.
