I was in such an aircraft on Wednesday. I must say I far prefer jet propulsion. That said, those turbo-prop planes aren't slouches. According to my GPS we maxed at 742kph on our way back (average was 568kph). I don't know if that was a glitch or not.

That's sounds pretty fast for a turbo prop, which type or airline was that?

Maybe they had a good tailwind

Turbo props are essentially a jet engine, just the prop is outside the engine instead of contained within the cowls like a turbofan engine

That's a bit of a simplification but not far wrong

here's a view of a modern jet engine with its propeller fan blades

It was one of those SA Express 70 seater De Havillands.

We did have a tail wind on the return flight.

I don't know the ins and outs of turboprop vs jet... all I know is that it was noisy as hell in there!

It's easy, your issue was that the url was "https" and not "http" and the url should be ...ube.com/watch?v=________

where the _____ is the video's code eg "2as-DSdoqzI". So don't use the the embed link that youtube gives you under "share". Link would look like this "http://www.youtube .com/watch?v= 2as-DSdoqzI"

Then once you have the link, just paste it in the reply box.
