Don't try anything that you do not usually have most days unless you fancy an uposet stomach.

I usually have raw oats & Pronuto with milk.

May just have a bit more on race day just before I leave the house, which would be ideally be about 1 1/2 hrs before the start.

I have raw oats and yogurt every morning, when I am doing a race or have a really long ride planned I increase the 2 ingredients by about 20% and have a banana sometime before the start. With today's race being such a long distance I had a Protein shake with 2 scoops protein too

What's the benefit of raw oats over cooked? I always put my oats in the microwave for 4 minutes. Then I put in

a banana and raisins and honey or sugar. Why raw?

Oats porridge with yoghurt and honey. The oats form a gelitenous mass in your stomach (like cold oats in the pot) and slowly releases during the race. Two hours before race start.

Listen to Pinky, DO NOT TRY ANYTHING NEW ON RACEDAY.

I have them raw because it is really quick to mix raw oats in with yogurt and it tastes yummy :D

Ok, but isn't it harder to digest? Does it become available as fuel soon enough? Oats is low GI and

takes longer to start converting to fuel than high GI and sustains your energy levels for longer as a result.

But if not cooked then may take even longer.

Couldn't find a dedicated thread to my question but this one is close enough.

So usually my weekday morning routine is get up at latest 04H00, have a double shot cappuccino, then have breakfast and leave on my commute to work. If I plan on riding further than just to work I wake up a little earlier but the routine is the same.

This morning I over slept and woke up at 04h36 according to garmin connect. It was a rush and I decided to skip breakfast, still had the cappuccino though. I thought my ride was going to be tough but I felt fine and in fact pushed slightly harder.

Got to work and then had breakfast and have felt fine all day.

So I decided to google riding without breakfast and it's actually a training technique!!!! For various reasons and you need to ride accordingly depending on what you want to achieve but I learnt something new and I think I might be doing this a bit more often.

So who else does rides without having breakfast and why?

That's the way I roll - my weekend 100+ km rides start at 5am with only a strong coffee in the bag and that's all.   Why?   I recon there is enough fuel in my system from previous day's meals?    After the ride I am always hungry and then I'll enjoy a nice breakfast  :)

Do what you do every morning before you train, its an one day event no need to worry, snack on route  if you must and once you have finished have a good chow you will be fine.
