Just remember, if you are comfortably warm before you get on your bike, you will be uncomfortably hot within 20 minutes on the bike, end up having to remove too many layers, and have nowhere to put them. Always start the ride a little chilly, not cold, chilly, and keep head, feet and hands warm.

This is not the first winter we will be facing as cyclists, harden up a little chaps.

Why so polite? Don't you mean HTFU!

I think Dangle must not be feeling well. Winter is getting him down.

I'm sure he meant HTFU.

try riding at 4:30 in winter... thats no joke

Had a lekker ride this morning starting at 4:30. Short sleeved mtb top & shorts, otherwise I would have overheated. Ah, the joys of living on the sunshine coast.

Not sure what you chaps are all complaining about!

My last early morning bike ride (5:15AM) the MAX temperature was 3 deg. C! <div> Temperature</div><div>Avg Temperature:2.1 °C</div><div>Min Temperature:1.0 °C</div><div>Max Temperature:3.0 °C</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div> And that was on the 28th of April!

Not sure what the whole storm in a tea cup is about 6 deg. C? Surely you all are going to do the Bela-Bela?

Just find a big hill to start your ride, and the best thing about winter in JHB is starting a little later and by 8:00 it is clear, warm and dry and the trails are hard and fast.

CPT can keep their rain and wind.

The problem with a big hill is that you sweat up it at 8km/h and then fly down the other side at 30km/h, resulting in being even colder than when you started.

But I will take the advice in this thread and HTFU.
