I used to run front, downtube and a rear mudguard(kinda looked like a skinny motor bike) while commuting. I took it for my first ride at Giba ever and was laughed at by my mates and have not put them back on again. :(

Spotted this for Lefties on Dr Cannondale:

Why can't you just use any of the other that attaches via an expander plug in the head tube?

It's a 1.5" steerer tube - not sure what else is going to fit

I grew tired of having my water bottles full of mud/sand...

Fitted a The mud guard - which works well..

Doesnt ever stop the dust from settling on the water bottle nozzle - nothing practical can help with that...

But we are MTB'ers after all...the elements should only aid in our perseverance...

if you get one - THE is the ONLY way to go!

The downtude ones are nice and small and unobrusive ... I use the proper THE fender that bolts into the underside of the steerer tube when it gets muddy

Likewise, work like a bomb.

I just need to pop in another star nut to the underside of my new forks steerer for me to bolt / screw it on as the rubber bung on mine is missing.

THE is nice and bling, I know BBB makes a cheapy as well that looks/works the same.

Only used mudguards once, in Dullstroom when I was in a proper thunderstorm. Worked like a charm ! Bought them for the Isuzu 3 towers and never used them but was money well spent.

Look at these Topeaks if its reall wet and muddy http://www.topeak.co...FenderM1_M2_Set

With all due respect that rear mud guard really looks wrong

I agree, it does look somewhat wrong. What I did was....cut a bit of the length OFF and now appears to be more in proportion with the rear wheel.

Why not use up all those old tubes you got lying around?

Cut a template like this:

Attach to the crowm and arch with cable ties.

An inexpensive one of these:

Keeps the mud out of your eyes.
