Who uses this shop as their LBS?

Was there on Saturday (about 12h30), looking for some info on the Ksyrium SSC SL wheels, as they sell Ksyrium wheels. Shop was not busy with about 5 customers in Cycling section. 3 Staffmembers standing behind counter chatting to 1 customer. I stood at counter looking (later glaring) at them. One staff member looked at me once, but DID NOT acknowledge seeing me. After 10 minutes of them chatting to guy and ignoring me, I thought if I started wandering around the shop, looking like I might also be a potential customer, "SOMEONE" might come and help me.

No such luck, and I left the shop without getting any attention or help.

This is the second time this happened, AND I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THEM, EVER!!!!!!AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Ps. The part I was interested in buying was in the display cabinet behind them, a BBB spoke spanner for the Ksyrium wheels.

Many years ago (about 2001) I had exactly the same experience at Westdene Cycles when looking to buy my first MTB.  I have never been back.  Since then I have supported West Rand Cycles and NEVER been disappointed.

Do you know whay they are in business? Because 99 time out of 100 times they have what you are looking for. I hate asking a shop to order me something.  And they can spell.  LOL

Stange, Faried Steward and Justin were busy with me for over an hour on Sat at the said time and not once do I recall anyone asking for help with wheels or the like. Charlie and Dylan were hell busy selling mountain bikes and the like to some customers. The story will always remain the same from certain customers when it comes to Cajees Westdene Cyclelab and Solomons yet when Linden needs items they don't have in stock who do they call Faried or Fatima. I know as I am in either shop most days .

At Westdene most customers only want to be served or helped by Steward or Faried which is their preference hence the other youngsters wait for the customer to ask for help( This makes YOU the customer not feel like you been harrassed by over eager saleman)

The Customer might be King BUT is not always right.Simple rule not happy go where you feel happy and get everything done at your wim.

I think that was the problem.  The post says he stood, looked, stared and walked around the shop to get attention.

Using the phrase "excuse me, how much is the spanner" might have brought a more positive outcome & saved a thread.

Wannabe' date=' did you ask someone to help you?  At Westdene you sometimes need to ask.

why do you need to ask, the minute you walk into the shop, it means that you are there to buy something. And if they don't know that...

If you a regurlar customer to Westdene you will understand how they operate. Half the time I go there to admire their frames and just browsing. ... When I need something I walk up to Faried and ask for assistance.

Thats not true at all. 90% of the time i go into a shop is to browse, and to see if they have anything interesting or new. Sometimes im there to look at a product in the flesh, that i have seen advertised in the magazines or the net. I like to shop around for the best price, and to get the guys opinions on the stuff. I do a lot of research on things before i buy, and normally i find the shop assistants more or a nucance than a help. i can tell in 5 seconds if they know what they are talking about, and if they dont i politley say thanks and move on. If i want help i ask for it, and i never buy at the first shop i walk into.
