I'm hoping that NZ win, and the three so-called BIG 3 can try again in 2019.

1 failed to make it to the knockout rounds and the other two just played each other for the right to play a minnow.

A highly capable minnow. I hope they can put one more brilliant performance together and win the World Cup.

I'll happily concede defeat to the Black Caps in exchange for a (potential) semi-final victory at the RWC later this year. Hoping the Boks can do better

I agree completely! The Boks certainly have a sufficiency in talent to do so. It's really a matter of whether they have the self belief or not. Just glad we are not in the "Pool of Death".

Boring final.  Why don't they just give the Ozzies the WC every 4 years?  NZ stuffed this one up big time.

Black caps to Black Throats: all that internal bruising due to very hard choking.

hey give them some credit..they managed to make it all the way to the final before they did the big chokaroo this time

what i said doesn't take away from what they did before, but then again, what they did before didn't count for jack in the final. I'm actually just disappointed with them as I was rooting for them to take it.

Such a pity they had their best game against SA and then followed that up with their worst against Aus in the final. I was really hoping they would beat Aus, but they were just never in it.

Was the World Cup any good as a spectacle? Apart from SA's close games vs NZ and Sri Lanka; England getting beat by Bangladesh and NZ over-achieving for a while - was there a lot to get excited about?

Seemed like no-contest in 3 of the quarters, both semis and the final - and a helluva long time to get to the end of the whole thing?

England vs bang, SA vs Pak, Ind vs NZ (1st game), Aus vs Sri Lanka...and there were a couple more I cant remember...overall I would say it was ok

that said..I think 10 teams would be better

The Aussies are just in a Class of their own.. Their bowling is simply the best...

Someone, please organise an Aussie bowling coach for the Proteas.  Donald is clearly not able to get it right.

A coach can only do so much, if the donkey he works with is a mule, he's on a hiding to nowhere...

Very disappointing final, and many predicted that it was going to be a hurdle too far for NZ...McCullum's high risk game wasn't always going to come off. and they really did allow the aussies to dominate them upfront. The collapse was also quite disappointing once elliott and taylor had picked up the pieces. worst powerplay of the tournament no doubt.

I think you have to go all the way back to 1987 to find an exciting final...Aus held out for a win by 7 runs, England had #9 and #10 at the crease(in India).

for 49 games...i'm sure maybe only 10-15 were a 'spectacle'. I think you're off the mark with the SA/NZ semi, probably in the top5 ODI games of all time.

Nice analysis and quite right, I had a brain fart not counting SA/NZ as a semi.
